Hey Tony can you post more detail on the voltages. I have mine at 3.6Ghz on 1.376v under load. But i can't stabilize it at 3.7ghz even at 1.48v. I keep my CPU-NB VDD at stock, do i need to change that ? What about the NB voltage ?
Basically i need to know:
CPU-NB VDD
NB Voltage
CPU PLL
Spread spectrum "DISABLED" ? C1E + the other Virtual machine option "DISABLED" ?

Sounds like me. 3.6GHz was almost easy as pie, but anything more and it doesn't seem to matter what I do, it just won't quite stabilize any higher :shrug:
I keep reading other threads, they all have like NBv at like 1.2-1.3 for 3.8Ghz but i don't know which voltage is that on the UD70. "CPU-NB VDD" or "NB Voltage"...
I get like 7 hours Prime95 stable large FFTs on 1.376v at 3.6ghz and it wont even stabilize on 3.7ghz at any voltage... We are missing some option.
ps: Or we have the lamest 955's out there. :)

Yesterday i managed to pull a little over 3 hours Prime95 stable large FFTs @3.72ghz on 1.45v but Core #3 gave me an error. NB @ 2400 mhz. Its all about the NB...
WIth the egg lowering the price for this board by $20 to $150... I am tempted.. but I am also considering the GA 790FX-UD4P.. Will be pairing this with a X4 810 and Corsair XMS3. Any opinions???
All the guys I talk to who use these boards pretty much agree this is the best for air/water :yepp: I dont think you can go wrong with it - Since I have had it it has been smooth sailing to 4ghz for the most part :D I find the OC knob fun to play with, if only it had a second mode for .01 cpu voltage increments it would be perfect!
Just got this board and finished putting everything together. So far no issues, have the X4 955 clocked@3.6 with a slight core voltage bump (1.376 according to CPU'z) NB and HT are both @2.1Ghz currently after some very quick bios fiddling, anything more on either and prime would fail, will test more combinations later. Bus speed is set to 300Mhz, 12x multiplier.
I had some Intel kit tri-channel OCZ3G1600LV6GK running two of those (of course) @1600 8.8.8.24. I had to bump the voltage up to 1.7 from their default 1.65 otherwise things were not 100% stable. So the memory is okay I guess, I have not been able to take it past 1600Mhz in quick testing.
So this board looks so far to be pretty decent, I would like to go much higher on the NB clocks, will have to play with all the combinations of settings. BTW, I went to use the built in BIOS flash utility, going from 1.1 to 1.3 it complained about a ID mismatch, so I flashed using the AMI utility, didn't want to risk bricking a new motherboard.
Using a Coolermaster V8, about 57 degrees after an hour of prime, 26 degrees ambient, good enough cooler for me for now.
Have you tried to bump the NBvid or NBvolts for CPU from 1.1v to say around 1.2vid-1.3vid for 2600mhz NB.Quote:

Note:
Play around with the NBvid first , while keeping CPU where its at. Dont change CPUvcore. Just raise NBvid a hair. You problem should go away.
If not then you can try setting NBchipset on Mobo to 1.2v(default should be 1.1v) since your @ 300x12..This will help with ram also.

How are some of you running NB@ 2.9Ghz anyway? Running Win7-7201 x64 BTW. On another note, OCZ3G1600LV6GK is not the best memory around. Won't go past 1600 even a few Mhz, which holds me back. Won't run at stock speed @1.65 volts (stock voltage) either. It's i7 specific memory don't know exactly what that is supposed to mean or do.
edit- forgot to post, memory read in Everest is 10,000 on the nose. At 2.6NB, got about 10,120 read.

AMD overdrive latest version freezes and crashes this board a lot, using whatever version MSI has on their site.
Maybe you could try a little more core voltage. As long as you're keeping it cool, don't be afraid to throw some volts at that chip. You don't have to go crazy, but 1.4-1.45v isn't going to do any harm.

2.9GHz NB under air cooling is IMPOSSIBLE. Unless you have some 'exotic' air cooling or air itself. Of course this is XtremeSystems and I know some might disagree, but for normal folks with 70~80F room temperature around 2.6~2.7GHz is max under air.
NB heats up like crazy yet it likes cold. The core itself doesn't seem as much sensitive to heat. I'd first try to find out the max of core by locking NB speed to 2000MHz or even 1800MHz (so that it doesn't heat up), then same thing for NB Max. Divide & Conquer style.
Sorry to flood with posts but i have good news. After 2 long weeks i finally got the hang of the mobo and managed to stabilize it for 6 hours (had to stop it) Prime95 large FFTs @ 3.7ghz. So now my aim moves up to 3.8Ghz: :woot:

What settings?
Play around with NB voltage(if you are increasing NB frequency) + CPU-NB to stabilize the CPU. There is some kind of ratio between the two but im still working on it. Yesterday i redid my 3.72gz Prime95 and got it stable for 9.5 hours, so im pretty sure that i got it rock solid for 3.72. CPU@3.8Ghz prime stable so far is not looking good. I've tried many different settings but looks like 3.8ghz 24/7 might not happen that easy if at all. Keep in mind that too much voltage on the CPU has a negative effect. ;)

Temps are fine, the clock gets negatively affected and more unstable. Right now i have it @ 1.432v rock solid for 9.5 hours but as soon as i put 1.5v it is not stable anymore and blue screens like crazy. They just don't like high voltage. And im not going over 63 degrees under load on 1.5v so go figure, it makes you crazy until you figure it out. Im working on some theories for 3.8ghz right now and I managed to pull about 15 minutes prime stable but than it blue screens or sometimes the system restarts so its gonna be tough...
ps: Another thing i noticed is that on most shots for stability over the web the memories are with low timings and low frequency. Most of us who have trouble clocking past 3.7Ghz are trying to go 3.8ghz with memory at 1600nhz. Furthermore, look at the Am2+ and 940BE, they all clock like MOTheRF@@@@@ and they all use slow DDR2... I wanna see 3,8Ghz Prime95 8 hours stable shot with memory 1600 or above... That kind of shot is hard to find so im thinking higher memory speed puts too much strain on the controller for stability(YES, you can bench test for 1 hour with more than 1600 + CPU@3.8ghz but thats not Priming for 9 hours.) use and that's why we might be having hard time. After all, its just a theory im working on and i'll begin tests with memory @ 1333 + low timings to see how the stability goes. Also, there is some kind of wall after certain frequency for the memory so this adds more support for my argument (@ 1600 and 3.7ghz+) and shows the weakness of the memory controller. So i have a few things to test in the next few weeks but i really wanna keep 1600mhz.
I have a problem
i was using my msi @ 3.6 stock volts today and all of a sudden the board decides to just turn off by itself.
So i turn it back on and it just stays at FF on the debug leds.
i removed battery waited 15mins plug everything back in still nothing.
It did boot up all the way to the win 7 log then freeze.
is this rma time?
Shut down your PC and then clear CMOS. Should get rid of any non stock settings and get you booted right back up again.Quote:
