So I just tried the Crysis demo...
(In Vista, have not tried in XP yet)
1. I was getting obvious artifacts in the opening cutscene. They were like little white pebbles going horizontally during the dialog on the plane. Turned my clocks back to 800/950 for now.
2. I set the res to my monitor's native of 1680x1050 and then ran the "optimal" wizard, it came back and said my system should be set to high, so I left it at that.
3. The game ran decently smooth the whole way through. There were occasional slowdowns, but nothing as bad as what I get with Oblivion in XP.
4. I just ran the GPU benchmark, got about 32FPS avg, 42 max and I think 12 min (Frame 146 iirc).
DX10 may actually be viable after all. Also, this game is alot of fun. I love how destructable everything is. Seeing buildings actually get destroyed as a result of an enemy grenade....
Unrelated to this post: It looks like in XP after turning on the adaptive AA in CCC, and then turning it off, it seems to have stayed on. Have been on an Oblivion kick lately, so that's where I'm noticing it. That is to say, slanted lines like rooftops and the like don't look jagged at all.
