Hi all , my Crucial Ballistix 8500 ram currently set v2.20 in bios and the Maximus overvolt to v2.27 reading in everest. Currently speed at 1092 (5-5-5-15)
The problem is my pc don't boot , get hang at DET DRAM if set lower than v2.20. I don't really know if it's the ram problem or what . And I have read alot about this kit died if going over v2.20. Anyone have any suggestions
I got 4x1gb Ballistix tracers PC8500 yesterday but i cant even run them @ stock 1066 5-5-5-15 2.2v.
I'm running them on a GigaByte DQ6 X38 motherboard. My old Team PC6400 CL3 did 1200 MHz @ 2.2 with two fingers in there nose.
Are Tracerts bad for overclocking ? or do i have a compatibility problem with the crucial PCB ? I also tested the modules in pairs 2 by 2 same problems. One pair wont boot stock speeds second pair could boot 1200 but with errors in memtest straight away.
uhmm strange that my old memory could run 1200 but non of the Ballistix can. I have a newer bios that made it possible to run 1066 but not more than that :(
strange or my motherboard does not like these sticks or i got 4x bad crucial sticks :? very strange.
Cant even run them 2x1gb 5-5-5-15 1066 MHz with 2.35 and 2.2 is stock :(
It seems :( i'm gonna send them back but because all 4 stick preformed bad i dont know if i really want new sticks. I do need 4 GB. Maybe that shop only has sticks from the same batch.
I can also try normal non tracerts. But normally the tracerts should perform just as wel as the normal sticks ?
Or maybe i should be looking for one more set of TEAM Xtreem 800 MHz CL3
Uhmm these are also without clips.
But i also found out the GA-X38 wont like 4x1 GB. So i have bad sticks and a motherboard that will not support it :( so back to my old team memory. Not gonna buy a new motherboard because i need 4 GB now. Hopefully GA will fix the 4gb issue. Then i will find a old set of good D9's to match my team memory.
These ballistix are going back. I liked the looks tho :) Looks cool all those lights :D
they are what you ordered - BL12864AA1065 - (16fd3 - 8fe5 are different batch numbers that are usually tested and then matched as pairs - quite often you get a matched pair but one set will be a different batch number from the other set).
CONCLUSION -----YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
I read some forum posts and there are a lot of people that have problems with GA and 4x1 memory setups. GA ignores the users a bit telling them there is noting wrong with the board and that the problems ly with the memory but there are just to many people having this problem most of them are using crucial memory.
So its back to my old Team 2x1. The Ballistix are going back where they came from.
gigabyte dont give a crap after you bought the board
odds are f3"the shipped bios"is still the best for overclocking
i got so fed up i shelfed my p35c-ds3r
and now i boycot them for life
if you keeping your board n you need 4 gigs go with 2x2
i dont think they can fix it with bios i suspect they released the board way too early and the design is flawed
my dfi was pushin 4x1@1200 like it was nothing and it can do it with 2.13v
Do you all think I might be having the same problem then?
My motherboard is a Giga P35-S3L, and my 2x1gb ballistix tracer 8500 will run at 1066mh 5-5-5-15 but will NOT let me tighten the timings no matter what volts I use. I can however get (just) upto 1100mhz @ 5-5-5-15 stable but no further.
Is it the board thats the problem?
I had no problem at all running 4X1Gb OCZ 6400 Plat Rev 2 on my P35-DS3R board at DDR2-890 4-4-4-15.
The code on my anti static bags is:
BL12864AL1065.8FE5
if that helps. If not, I'll have a look inside my case later on!
I got the with Asus they also dont care about supporting there motherboards. They know that people will still buy then because it has a sticker Asus on it.
I bet if you take to most crappy motherboard there is a put a sticker on it that says asus everyone will still buy it.
I guess its back to DFi and Abit Boards again
yes alot of the general public think asus is the best n they pay the xtra money for it
i sold my 2 p4c-800-e-deluxes on ebay they both sold for 300us$ LOL
the best boards i ever had were the 865 n 875 chipsets by asus
but after touching a dfi board i doubt i will buy another brand
