Think he was suggesting settings not a hardware loan :p.
As far as hardware loans well my ass is still sore from lending out 2 boards one of them my 939 DFI lanparty that i can't replace, and a set of ram to a team member, formerly our captain........
Never heard or seen the hardware since.
Some info about the competitions that ended on Sunday night.
In the Asus 1156 competition FUGGER was able to rank 2nd.
This was also the last stage of the competition, in overall ranking Brian ended up 3rd, FUGGER 6th and ZenEffect 7th. :)
MSI MOA 2011 Americas pre-selection ended on Sunday as well, chew* was able to win the first stage and will represent XS at the MOA 2011 AM Qualifier in Las Vegas.
well hallelujah! we now have some greek flaover on the team, MR. Tiltevros has joined the XS team :)
is this good for u??
Please welcome our new member Tiltevros! :welcome:
Yeah! King T is in here!
Linux asked a good question. What hardware you have currently? Guys that dont know Tilt, he is one of the LSI 92xx series pioneers and a fellow HDD brother of Computurd, SteveRo amd myself. He is a good dude and we will vouch for him. Show him respect. T its been a while man. what do you have right now in terms of hdwr and cooling?
Brian ..relax :) I was just joking.. because I knew you had probs in the past with hdwr loans and dont want to risk anymore losses so thats why I said that. its nothing personal I just hear where you are coming from and respect that. I just want you to know from meeting you and your family that I would never screw you over.
I'm 100% positive those guys that never returned your hardware prob got bad clocks because they were dishonest. I firmly believe when you do shady things with hardware.. dishonest RMA's, cheating..etc. IT PISSES THE OVERCLOCKING GODS BEYOND COMPREHENSION. THE OC GODS WILL MAKE SURE YOU WILL FAIL. Whether its a bad run, or condensation short, you drink the ln2 thermos instead of your beer. you will eventually get whats coming to you.
BIG plus one there...karma is a mofo!Quote:

A warm welcome to Mr Tiltevros!
A most knowledgable storage tuning guru - I have learned much from you my friend!
thnx steveRO we have to set PCmarkV on points mode ;)
that will be our victory.
Good morning again Mr. Tilt,
As you already know - this month's HWBot challenge is pcmv - one of our (yours and mine) favorite benches.
We have been struggling with the 1x (single) core – having difficulty in just getting it to run sometimes
(Hangs at completion of game 1, I doubt pcmv was ever intended to be used on single core but that is another discussion).
So a question for you.
From your previous post, is the xeon pcmv results you posted really a single core or are you just running a multicore as single core (via bios setting)?
Can you post a cpu-z of the proc?
that try was with Bios disabling the 2nd CPU but the system see it as inactivate CPUz says that im using only one processor but Hwbot team doesnt accept my result...
i dont know why they do that..
in bios i set USE CPU 1 disable from 4 cores the 3 and then i set only multithread (for the one core) and turbo mode and thats it.
now the Hwbot says that im using 2/2 cores threads to 1 so i cant post it in 1 core section but on 2 core section only.....

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1500230
I believe that only single CPU configurations with CPU that is sold as single core and has a single core working are allowed. So the only nehalem-family CPUs allowed would be Xeon LC3518 or Celeron P1053, except that you can't get them and they probably would be supported by desktop boards...
Yeah T its a no go. I wish you could. but they did it to make the 1 stage the ultimate challenge. think about it. you are limited to cache and htt/fsb and locked multis. If that was the case I would take my x3 BE and just disable cores and use the multi and have the cache. You would see dudes on thubans just using cache and disabling cores it would be no fun.
The single stage is by far the most challenging in this NOV contest. first off you need a board that can do high fsb or htt since there are not unlocked single cpus currently.
2nd problem is that pc vantage was never intended for single core cpu. its funny how much smoother the bench runs from 1-4 cores. then you have the gaming 1 bug to deal with.
it looks easy and yeah its pathetic benching at 4-4.5 ghz on ln2 and you can make your judgements and ":p " remarks but you have no clue until you are actually doing this yourself totally limited to the bare bones. the 1st stage is a completely different ballgame. its in a class by itself and prob the toughest hw contest yet.
Our member Aerou made news at hwbot, he is now ranked first in the 2 core stages of the Gigabyte Core Prime Contest! Well done!
Congrats to ZenEffect and mk-ultra as well, for taking home the lucky draw prizes in their respective categories of the MSI MOA 2011 pre-qualifiers!
mk-ultra won the MSI P55-GD85 and ZenEffect will get the MSI P55-GD65.
Congrats again guys!
Good morning,
regarding 8800 GTX overclocking - rivatuner seems to be working great for fan speed and clocks.
question - is there a way to increase voltages like we do with the 5870/AMD GPU Clock Tool?
About your only options steve.

http://chew.ln2cooling.com/XS%20mods/IMG_2611.jpg
Thanks guys but I think I will try and see how many points I can pull down w/o the mod first.
I see we are still holding strong in the November Hwbot contest, great work y'all!
I concur, nice work everyone involved!
well guys, it may just be PCMV, but looks like team XS dominated the November competition, winning all four stages with a new WR in each of them!
barring any last minute email submissions or other BS this one should be done :)
Also, Trans Am has made a very good effort, with his ssd's and the 9260, and did very well on two difficult segments, the one core and three core. Undeniably the two hardest segments to win in this competition, and he did an excellent job, his LN2 skills are truly ninja!
SteveRo's work with the acards is phenomenal, and his knowledge and skill are complete for this bench (he does hold the overall WR).
I have seen guys with better hardware do worse than these guys, thats for sure. My hat is off to both of my teammates, not only are they great competitors, but very good friends as well.
http://hwbot.org/competition/hoc_nov10?tab=info
Excellent work guys!
Here's one screen that tells the whole story:
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/261/100winn.jpg
XS = 100% win. :D
man I was getting nervous when massman was nipping at steves heels. Steve had to work late so he submitted that bench as soon as he got up and he gets up early. anything couldve happened. Im amazed by all this. not that i dont have faith in my team but you know how these things go. Its a big ebay auction and people always snipe. I have a 35l dewar and that thing will last for usually for 5 sessions of just cpu pouring. even during 32m and wprime 1024 ive never seen ln2 go this fast. 2x 5 hr sessions of pcmv and its gone. and that single core stage was by far the hardest bench ive ever come across. my apt is a disaster area for the past month. it looks like an oc hurricane hit it! its gonna take the whole month of december to clean it up and put all this computer crap away.
computurd has a new baby on the way due in 2 weeks so I'm glad we got this over with while we did.
i gotta get off here and clean up this place. i dont know how the married guys with families can get away with this crap. ive seen chews place and he benches in a 8 x 8ft space. maybe the Dec hw contest should be how fast you can clean up all your computer crap after the nov contest!
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/f.../hurricane.jpg
nice work indeed guys!
and NAMEGT claimed another gold cup with his x4 955 @ 7154mhz!!!!
congrats!
Now that is firggin TOP NOTCH :surf:
seems like it get squeezed into these twilight zone timeframes and we got to pull chilled rabbit out of the hat! I love that scene, computer karnage but still the drums stand for the extreem overburdehn!:yepp:
time to play~
Wow. That's all this? :)
I must say, you guys showed how phenomenal you are in the November challenge. A lot of will and horsepower. First in every stage - that's a perfect display!
I will try to push some more in the Core Prime contest, PMed Hicookie for mods on my board :toast:
Much thanks to everyone for all the cudos, but as Mr Trans am eluded to previously - the great storage guru - Dr. Computurd guided us to this perfect score. :yepp:
Without Dr CT's mentoring we may not have won this competition - let alone acheived the perfect score. :yepp:
Hats off and much thanks to Dr CT!:up::up:
Guys,
That was epic. With this months and last months competitions we proved that we deserve to be named XtremeSystems.
I can't remember if such progress has ever been made in any benchmark across all categories in such short time.
Keep it up
Yah great job guys, now time to ove on to the next one.
I have some 939 and 754 stuff here i can dabble with.
Remember, he has done a cool song lately :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87rxE...layer_embedded
You deserve a break more than anyone else, you've worked very hard in the last 2 months! :yepp:
Just have a look at this:
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/2...wbotaddict.jpg

yeah give steve a break.. he deserves it
Chew I dont have much old stuff but I do have a vmodded ati bullhead 939 board but I have no idea where I can get a bios or drivers. Does anyone know anyone at amd that can provide these files?
I have an opteron 939 170 and a fully working 256 x2 gskill tccd kit. the good ones!
Also some ch5 kits but those are all double sided. what do you have for hdwr?
In a recent conversation I was informed info/programs/bios etc etc I had for any past ATI chipset boards is still to this day NDA so i can't help you there.
My tccd is dead, I have real deal bh-5, I have a nice 939 lanparty Ultra-D that got loaned out but thats a sore subject for me, I have a ES manta + ASUS board for 939, I got my lanparty 754 board and a 754 chip and a handfull of 939 chips.
its you and me man. were gonna do this. old school style.. Im so stoked because ive been on massmans ass for months begging for a contest like this. I didnt have the balls then and only had h20 and only looked at oppainter, fugger and shimano at the time and i was dicking around on h20. this is like when marty gets in the delorean and puts the huey lewis and the news tape in and travels to 2003.
Nice runs Yoto, MK, Systemviper, tomasis, and szpara today!
Keep it coming!
Yoto, hope you have time to push the 580 on LN2 for 03 and Vantage!
I need to get some globals out quik to get to 2nd place at least again the two Poland guys snuck up on me and now I'm 4th global on our team. :hehe:
I'll start with CPU-Z and 3dm01.
I was bored today and i benched a bit with 10ishC water, i don't think it will get any better than this on water
spent most of my time trying to pass 3DMVA cpu test @ 5ghz but it just refused to do it.
I need to stop this madness on water from crumbles :D
GTX 580 is a review sample and shall not be frozen or in any way modified :(
Until I can get a retail Sandy Bridge chip I'm going to dedicate myself to benching PCMark05 on machines with odd core counts :)
Here are the screenshots:
( saved one yesterday but forgot to post )

Nice work guys, we passed 17300 points today!
Raw clock speed hunting is fun! :DQuote:
I'll start with CPU-Z and 3dm01.
But 01 is even better! ;)
Finally broke down and ordered a K|ngp|n Gemni unit...
Can't wait for it to come in, I know it'll be amazing. :D
Anybody participating in the December Hwbot challenge?
I have a Asus P4C800-E Deluxe/a few P4 3.0e's and a pair of Winbond BH-6 sticks from my old gaming days that should still work.:)
Yotomeczek has some socket A stuff but with Sandy Bridge release and the holidays, we probably won't have time to bench it.
nothing special but 2 cups for the team ;)
8 cores 16 threads competition
Good job
Dual core, quad core and 6-core global cups left :D
Thanks Linuxfan!
No problem guys. I'll still give a shot even though I know next to nothing about benching SuperPi. At the very least I will see what my old setup can do under some cold.:D
If anybody wants to give me some tips on benching 32m, I would greatly appreciate it.:)
Hey David, nice to see you around again!
steve how did those 8800 runs go? I have 2 and like to see how it went> did you do any vmods?
on another note I plugged my opteron 170 (dual core) into a piece of history today.
I cant believe it even still works!!
the sad part is that at the time the board and bios came out there was no support for 939 dual cores. I need to call ati canada tomorrow and see if they have an old bios floating around that can fix this. for all of you that have been around for a long time then I dont need to tell you how rare this board is and what its capable of doing in the ram clocking dept.

You guys like collecting silverware, don't you? :D
http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/8...mber8th201.jpg
Btw, congrats Tiltevros!
And everyone else too of course! :)
donny. its like this. ever since amd 754/939 (a64) was released. it was always dominated by nvidia chipset. nf3, nf4 ultra. hence dfi lanparty ultra d and made Oscar wu famous.
Oscar wu (was a bios engineer for diamond flower international/DFI) if you guys dont know was the driving force behind enthusiast overclocking and was the holy grail of ocing bios and ocing options on bios especially ram ocing options at the time. he is what everyone copied and is one of the main reasons we have the assortment of options on bios these days. all the ocing options you see in your bios since then are all copies of Oscar wu's but he was the first. Ati before it was acquired or right around the time amd bought it was looking for a chipset to compete with nvidia. the canadian bios engineers wanted to make a chipset for 939 that had onboard gfx but could compete with nvidia. it was called RX480.
ATi sent some boards out to andantech and some other review sites and was only reference boards. at the time I was heavily into amd athlon 64 ocing and was doing an amd 939 shootout and a member on this site from ati was nice enough to flow me one of the reference boards except this board was very special because not only it was an engineering sample but it was modded to the teeth with vdimm mods to allow insane ram vdimm. note this was also the same time when CH5 the successor of Bh5 started making its way into the scene, Twinmos, ocz VX, etc. thats why we had hipro's and ocz's ddr booster.
the ace in the hole for athlon 64 was the onboard mem controller and you saw a lot of products designed to exploit high performance memory on athlon 64. so when the bullhead came out it was the 1st board to really compete with nvidia. VIA was horsecrap and not even a contest but RX480 was the light at the end of the tunnel and never took off. I think MSI and sapphire made some and they didnt have the options the original ATI samples had and then the nf4 ultra came out and the bullhead was history. AMD took over and the engineers got lazy and were at the top and thought they had the enthusiast market and then intel came out with core2 and that was the end of the amd saga.
to sum it up this board was ati's answer to DFI nf4 ultra with bios options that the legendary oscar wu didnt even think of. Its extremely rare and I probaly have one of the few left in existence and I never had extreme cooling at the time and always wanted to see what it could really do. Its been hanging on my wall as a trophy and just tonight I decided to see if it would still work and it posts but I can clock it until I can get a working bios that will make it compatible with dual core 939. I cant remember if dual core 939 was even around when the engineers were still playing with this board. if thats the case then I need to get a single core 939. there were so few of these boards and Im not even sure anyone ever played with dice/ln2 on it. its totally uncharted territory so its my mission to get this thing back in action on heavy duty cooling and see if I can make history with a piece of history.
Youve all heard of the 7 wonders of the world. well there are 4 canadian wonders of the world...
1. blackberrry RIM
2. colin mckay
3. The trailer park boys
4. ATI bullhead.
Congrats to T! we missed you in the nov contest. good to see you back buddy! :)
nice result T! you da man! where is that damn SR-2???
Yes, much congrats Mr. Tilt!
hey guys is anyone with me on this dec contest? I need to know who the players are. I'm going in full force. PM me if you are down. I need to know who's got what. We can take this.
So I have a setup for the Dec HWBOT comp stage 5 socket 939.
Ive had this thing sitting around in a box for a long time.
Motherboard is a Biostar 6100 M9 and CPU is AMD 4200+ Dual Core.
I know it's not much but the best I can do atm.
So this board might not be the best OCer but it does have a few settings in teh BIOS.
I can raise the vcore up 3 settings in the BIOS... +0.05, +0.1, +0.15
With this set to +0.15 I can raise the buss speed up to 226 tops, so its like 2.48ghz
Not fantastic I know
Now I had a OC program for it called Warpspeeder that had more options. Only problem is the only 1 I can find on the net is version 0.9 7.2
This version just does not seem to work. I have tired on nlite XP, WinXP and Vista with no luck.
Any chance some one has a older version of this utility ?
Rig is all setup on SS Phase but not sure if thats gonna help this one :(
Using what I had for the HWBOT OC Challenge December 2010, Stage 5 Socket 939.
Motherboard is a Biostar 6100 M9 and CPU is AMD 4200+ Dual Core.
I was stuck for a long time at 226 Buss Speed at this motherboard had pretty limited OC ability.
Digging deep in the interwebs I finally found a BIOS that made so I could raise that to 250.
Tweaking this more and more I was able to get a CPUz of 2.9ghz / 266 Buss.
Saddly tho after many, many attemps I had to lower the Buss speed to 254 to get this puppy to run 32M.
Was a lot of fun tho and I really enjoyed the comp ! :)
Wish I could have done better here.
http://www.hwbot.org/community/submission/1089805_
oh man. thats tough. oh well. nice try at least. If I have to oc in each stage for our team alone then so be it. As a member of xs team I am not going to rest until I get at least 3 stages for us.
this contest has been my dream ever since I started overclocking on a p4p800 dlx and a 2.4c. I didnt have ln2 then and didnt have the balls then. I was a kid. Im a full grown adult now and massman built me a time machine to go back in time and kick ass.
Good showing in HWBot's December challenge so far, we are currently ranked 2nd!
Does anyone plan to compete in the DDR3 challenge?
not since cpu tweaker limitation was added.....imo timings are what makes people individuals, take that away and you just have a bunch of people copying one another.
Of course no one says twkr has to have the timings you used, I could always jack all timings way slack for screenshots.......
Not your fault but look at it this way, advanced memory tuning is what got me first in MOA pre qualifier.
I had a much crappier chip and crappier IGP.
I spent a good week + debugging memory related issues that board and intels IGP had before even putting any time in on ln2 ( both of which endusers will benefit from in future bios's )
Would not have been hard to copy timings if twkr was mandatory which imo is just others profiting off anothers hard work and time.
This is why vince i feel leaves his mem tab out of all 01 screenshots.
Yeah, I know what you mean, and I agree with you for usual overclocking, however in a Low Clock Challenge memory timings ( and software tweaks ) are your only way of improving your result. If more people don't want to show their subtimings one might consider making screenshots available to staff only. ( In this competition. )
After the competition is over they could be released to the public.
http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/1...mber13th20.jpg
Buckeye and MTP04 are pushing their old-school setups for the December challenge, mkultra is pretesting a 8800 GTX before vmodding and SteveRo is finally addicted to 3D-benching I think...
Much thanks to Mr. Linuxfan for all the help on ocing my 5870. :yepp:
Got a few good scores and some nice global points.
Particularly 3DM01SE @ 104737 is not too bad. :D
I did most of this with the back door open into the room.
Outside temp was as low as -4C.
Inside I measured as low as +14C room temp.
Painfull at times - but looking back - perhaps worth it after all! :)
im proud of you steve. we all are. :) you just keep kicking ass. hey did paul have the baby yet? keep us posted/
:shakes:
This is unacceptable guys. :hehe:
Got a nice little SS unit from Gray Mole today in the mail and going to retest the Q9450 and possibly start on the E8400 tomorrow. :yepp:
Yes Paul's wife had the baby, much congrats to CT! -
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=263516
unigine have been awarded points guys.....time to re-bench your dx11 vgas :D
i need to do it too with the 580, my efficiency is horrible compared to the guys around me
linuxfan, expect something from me by the end of this weekend, currently testing.... ;)
edit:
congrats to the new father!
nothing huge but should be worth it
