i took out my mushkins with d9gkx to test out a pair of kingston value d9ghm
2.2v
i finally broke 11000 lol
with a little tweakin should get better
my new 24/7:D
cpu 1.54v
vdmm 2.1v
woot nice one zsamz_
zamz nice work, is that your normal 4 gmh sticks but with performance lvl 7 and whats the NB voltage and phase settings still eaeee eaaee
I was looking in the DFI manual and it said that PCIE 1, 3 and 4 are all x16. I'm wondering if there would be an impact on performance if I run my single GPU in slot 4? In case anyone is wondering why, my OCZ xtc ram cooler won't fit with the GPU in slot 1 and my SB waterblock blocks slot 3.
slot 4 is a 4x electrical pci-e1 slot so i wouldent use it for grafix, but slot 3 works great
and u dont need a water block on the SB it barely needs a heat sink
no bud its my crappy kingston value pc2-667 lol "d9gmh"
i had to go performance level 8 @ 535fsb lol but phase settings are eaeee
i got another pair in my hr-07s:D
my 2 sets of ballistix 8500 been put away for a rainy day
i put my mushkins that couldnt go past 1155 with 2.32v into my old p35 now they doin 1200+ with 2.22v
i wasnt happy with those d9gkx but my son lovin em now
since i broke 11000mbs my next goal is to break 12000mbs:D
takin a break soon i will see how high i can go lol gonna try 2.32v next
now i really cant wait for my block to arrive so i can flash to the x48 bios on a new block and keep my original intact
man i thought you had it already biosdepot is quick n cheap
took 5 days for me to get mine i'm in canada
i paid 24$ for 2 chips shipped:D
i miss the days when it way 5$ for a damn chip
my sons pc was @ 8500mbs:rofl: now he happy with 10200:p:
New BIOS for the 'bold' ones:

If you flash it to x48,can you flash it to x38 again?
Anyone tried to flash a x38 to x48 with the 03/20 bios? Results?
Yes, zsamz did:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2531
It's still working. X48 is just a binned X38.
So did felix bg:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2536
Ah sweet, might flash aswell.
Btw http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/3228/mem1254rk2.jpg
Was able to boot up at 1300MHz, but as soon as windows started to load, BSOD ruined the fun =/
2,38v is at the edge of doable for me, 2,4 > is quite risky.
I'm not that familiar with the GTL settings. How's the impact of increasing/decreasing them? When is it effective to increase/decrease them?
so did i, and proof that itÄs the same thing is
a) the flash works
b) the bios says x38/x48 series on the logon screen, so they dont even differ between x38/x48
Performance increase with X48 bios i'd say is wishful thinking....or as eva2000 said probably because NB voltage-table glitch is still in the bios, resulting in dangerously high NB voltages for all "made in china" boards selecting certain NB voltages, resulting in better stability at tighter timings (yeah, running NB at 1.76V, much luck with that :)
I personally dont think the X48 bios is worth it:
a) old bugs are sitll in there (still resetting to default cmos values with 8x multi and certain straps on otherwise stable settings)
b) dangerous NB voltages bug might kill china boards
c) no real performance increase (IMHO)
Yeah, I know. Can you put a fan on the H/L series. I know the singles cost more, but you can mount a fan easily and it has more surface area to cool. I haven't seen any reviews to see witch is better and the cost is only about $4 higher. I'm only planing on running 2 sticks anyway. Maybe I'll just flip a coin, lol.
Are there any aftermraket ram coolers that will still allow the use of the first PCIX slot? I'm almost tempted to pick up the enzotech heatspreaders, but I figure those will still need active cooling.
just use a fan :p
hrm - found something very interestng wrong with my setup
400*9.5 passed OCCT for 30 or so mins so i decided i couldnt be bothered doing any more testing
I installed HL2 and tried to install the texture pack (mentioned in the news section) but i got a decompression error. i thought it was the download of the pack and thought sod it - uninstalled HL2 and deleted the pack.
i left my machine for a bit while i was downloading all my Oblivion mods (4.63gb's worth so far :D ) and then tried to install Oblivion but got an error at about 75% which i thought was strainge. i tested the Oblivion disk in my laptop and it installed fine.
Tested my hard drives with seagate tools on Hiren 9.3 cd and they passed, so at this point im starting to get confused and decided to stick my machine on a quick Memtest86+ and left it running while i was browsing for some 3870x2 aftermarket cooling. (browsing on my laptop)
i noticed out the corner of my eye after about 16/18mins lots of red errors  all around the 6707mb - 6715mb mark so i went into the bios and set everything back to default values and ran memtest again but got the same failures after about 22mins this time :( !!!
I'm going to have fun testing all my equipment again
its either;
the board from germany
1 set of ram (2*2gb) from Memoryc.com
1 set of ram (2*2gb) from overclockers.co.uk
i should of just stuck with my e6600 + ab9 pro
perhaps i will need 2.1v for the ram @ default speeds? (the rated for the memory) since i have 8gb
why not give it a shot? I know I do not have the same problem as you, but my rams needed 2,38v to reach 1300MHz. Was quite unstable there though so I set the volt back to 2,35v which was the intended volt @ 1150MHz.
Didn't read the posts about GTL setting, quite stupid of me. Thanks Praz and co.
ill be testing the ram in two different machines later (2 sticks in one and 2 in the other) using memtest to see where the culpret is, unfortunatly i have work before then :(
OU:
OCCT/CPU for CPU
OCCT/MEM for northbridge/mem timings
MEMTEST for Windows (!) for memory test
A OCCT test alone (maybe only on CPU) wouldnt find a lot.
Besides i assume you use latest OCCT 2.0.0a/b....then at least one hour at "mix".
Add: forget *bootable* DOS memtest. Its really only good for checking whether ram is defective.
i noticed board really doesnt like going over 540fsb
feels like its gonna break if if i test beyond 540
How has the temp/volts/fsb been scaling? I can't get pass 510MHz when I feed the nb with 1.5V. Any hints?
Sorry these are very newbie questions, but i was just wondering if this board is going to be able to provide 1600mhz fsb support in the future (bios update) and does this board have auto sensing sata ports so i dont have to reboot when i use my esata drives?
Thanks
if u use the jmicron it auto senses and if u use the intel raid manager u can refresh a port to find a drive
and this should have 1600mhz support we have teh boot strap and ram dividers, if not just flash to x48 that one dose
also i got new bios block today performance lvl 7 time
one of my sticks of ram is faulty - back to overclockers.co.uk it goes
http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/3...zfsbjz9.th.jpg
After 500MHz I always get C1 error. The funny thing is that with my Corsair xms2 PC6400 sticks, I was able to reach 510MHz....
Sorry but that's BS... I've been using Memtest Boot-CDs for a long time now, as does the company I currently work for.
Works a treat, after 2-3 passes you can be sure it's not your mem holding u back.
Anyway, for 8GB of ram you might need to increase NB Voltage to higher levels and/or tune NB GTL differently.
Yeah I read that, sorry to hear it. 8GB Ram just needs more NB voltage in general ;)
Over 1,5V is a hell of a lot of voltage... I'm running FSB 450 with a quad and 4x1GB @1100Mhz with 1,45V NB 24/7, and it's watercooled. Dunno if I'd go above 1,5V for long.
if i put in NB one of this:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...SLI-IFX_04.jpg
and the original nb cooler that comes with the mobo, can fit in the SB chip ? using a ati 3870x2 ?
I'd just leave the SB as it is. I still have the stock cooler on it and it doesn't even get warm.
Is there any reason that my multiplier on a Q6600 with this board would be locked at 6? I check in bios and it's set to 9 there, but CPU-z shows 6.
u have c1e or speed step enabled, i suggest that u return the board if that got u, u will be lost in the bios
The reason I'm doing cas5 at the moment is because I don't want to stress my rams before finding max FSB. I'll try cas4 aswell then.
I've creamed on with 1,5v to the NB, but C1 error remains. I was able to push it to 505MHz too.
I've done 4GHz on air with this beauty so of course I will aim for higher clocks, but again, I don't want to stress anything more than the fsb at the moment. After that's done, I'll try to find a sweet spot for all the components.
Thanks, but the sarcasm is unwelcome. First thing I did was set both to disable, but I guess c1e was left on auto. I've been up for just over 31 hours now and spent the last 3 finding out all 4 sticks of my OCZ platinum were bad, same with my generic ddr2.
After 3 hours of a C1 error and finally stealing 2 gigs of gskill back from my dads comp (45 minute round trip) I had this problem. Now I just need to remember to disable my floppy drive next reboot (forgot these last 4 times).
Nah, I have the thing stable at 3.6 now. Wanna see what I can manage.
>>>
finding out all 4 sticks of my OCZ platinum were bad,

how likely is this???
if you boot into Win and are idle speedstep/EIST is on..so your multi is down at 6x...with a little load it wil jump to the max. Nothing to worry about. Also no need to disable those in bios. Works fine here also with overclocking.
Wish i could UNDERclock them way more when idle...still using way too much power. I tried rmclock, but i can only go as low as 1.26Vid, if i request lower VCore the Q6600 just doesnt take it. My old A64 is sitting idle at 0.8V !
Woot, 3.737 @ 1.35v wPrime 1024 stable. Hoping to break 4 before I get to 1.45v, then I'll start tuning my ram :D
Edit: 3.9 @ 1.4 wPrime 1024 stable. Sleeping finally, hoping to tweak it a bit more tomorrow. . . errr, today.
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced a huge difference between the Prime95 calculations in each core?
This never happen to me before with this same cpu and now it's freaking me out::shocked:
http://i27.tinypic.com/t0sviq.jpg
http://i32.tinypic.com/2zdp0rs.jpg
Is this normal? Should I be worried? Does this indicates something is wrong?
update
i got to 500fsb with only 1.4v bumped my gtl by 1 n its stable but only pl8
What ram would you guys reccomend for this board? 2x2gb ~$150 or so?
Just flashed to the latest bios, seems fine. However, I did load optimized defaults before flashing and couldn't bring my mobo back to posting after that, kept hanging at C1.
So I removed all ramsticks but 1 and it bootet up fine... flashed and put all 4 back in. It does post, but it hangs at the bootup screen saying 50... so I removed 2GB and it works. Very strange... I do hope it didn't fry my Cellshocks (again) when loading defaults or something
Anyway, played around with 2x1GB of Crucial Value 667 only and the new bios and found the following:
a) it boots up with 266 strap at 445 FSB, something that wouldn't even post before
b) still can't go below perf. level of 8 - no post
c) runs rather nicely at 1066 4-4-4-9 and 2,3V - not bad for 667 rated sticks I guess :D
try setting PL manually with one stick, then adding the rest.
Hey folks! I'm a DFI mobo newb and need a small amount of help:
Can anyone tell me how to find out what bios I'm currently running? I've looked thru all of the screens in the bios and can't find any rev numbers.
I would read through 100+ pages of this thread, but I have a little bit of a life.
Current specks:
E6750 o.c'd to 3.6GHz, 8X mutli at 450 FSB
8GB DDR2 at 2.1V, and all ram timings are set to "Auto"
CPU volts at default.
As you can see, I've only oc'd by changing the fsb. I have a lot to learn about this incredible mobo. The incredible thing is that to achieve this fantastic OC all I've done is increase the FSB. I'm amazed so far. OC'ing has been a bit boring though.
All I need to get finalize my 24-7 OK is to find out if I need to update the Bios or not. I need to know if my temps and volts listed by the bios are trustworthy.
Thanks!!!!
Really having issues getting prime stable past 425fsb. Looking for some guidance my best luck seems to come when increasing the VTT & GTL settings but it seems that they are REALLY touchy. I've been able to post @ 500fsb. I've made it into windows @ 450 but then it locks up. Are there common things with the DFI x38/48 board that I have have overlooked that need to be changed? I have not really touched the ram at all could the 4 sticks be holding me back? Any help is appreciated.
The BIOS date etc is displayed on the first post screen down on the bottom left of your screen but you may miss it if you have the DFI boot screen come up rather than the post screen.
Perhaps the easiest way would be to download CPU-Z, run it & look at the BIOS date on the motherboard tab then check that against whats available from DFI.
CN :)
Stupid FSB walls! I got everything at stock volts, Vdimm at 2.2v. It runs smoothly up to 500FSB, after that, it's a dead end.
Now, I've tried to raise NB volt to 1,5v-1,55v =C1 error.
I've tried the 400/x strap/divider = C1 error.
raising fsb VTT to 1,5v = C1 error.
Mems running at 5-5-5-18.
It's just.....so frustrating, especially when I see zsamz_ hitting higher fsb clocks. :(
One thing struck me though. I had similar problems with my asus P5B board, no matter what volts I fed that bastard it didn't get pass 360FSB. My E6700 is very picky, apparently. Any tips of how to keep pushing it or should I just start clocking with 500*X?
lol i just have a better cpu you lucky to hit 500fsb
on another note i too am frustrated i can only hit 555fsb i know my cpu can do 580 :( i cant wait to get an e8500 my cpu suks or maybe my board
if you really wanna go higher you gotta pump more cpu vtt volts i need 1.52cpu vtt for 500fsb
n only use 333/667 and 333/800 straps
my cpu dose that too i cant get it past 500mhz but i know that it can since i got it used from sniipe_dogg and he had it at 540 posting when i asked before he shipped it, over 500 is just missing something i need to put in
Yeah I think it's chip related. Zsamz is one luckky bastard. =/
no i not lucky i seen better ones
if i was gonna tempt my luck i woulda gotten a 6750:rofl:
my old e6400 can go past 550:rofl:
kunak has a nice e6300 he went past 600
edit:for those who havent changed nb heatsink put a 120mm fan on it n watch the temps drop
i took my hr-05/fx off to put a monster 120mm fan on my true
now i gonna mod my hr-07
actually something im curious of. if you have a gfx card int he top slot youre supposed to attach a floppy power cable to the connector just next to it so if you use the middle 16x slot do you need to have the floppy power cable connected to the top or middle conenctor?
whats the proper vco divider for 500mhz + fsb, and would changing the clock gen voltage help to get stable
Hey zsamz, wanna post your volts (cpu, nb, vtt, gtl, pll) along with memory frequencies @ cas4 for 520MHz? I need them as references so I don't end up with a scorched system :P
thanks in advance.
What defects or options that are disabled between the DFI LP UT P35-T2R and DFI LP LT P35-T2R? Want to know if I really need to spend the extra money on the UT model. Thanks.
Only in heatpipes
yes, the UT is useless it cools worse and has connecting heat pipes, so u dont have the option of a watter block with the UT like u do with the LT
Man this sucks.. wanted to flash to the latest official bios yesterday, so I went into bios and loaded defaults before the flash (naturally).
Note that I was running 2 weeks BOINC without pause with my mem 4x1GB D9GMH@1070 5-5-4-9 with 2,13V and a fan for cooling.
So I loaded the defaults, saved and... C1. Damn. Tried CMOS clear, cut power, nothing helped except taking all but 1 stick of ram out. It bootet right up, I flashed the bios and put them back in - C1. Argh!
So I tested each stick individually today with 3 different mobos and guess what... one of my Cellshocks is dead - AGAIN!
1. I have RMAed my 2Gigs of Cellshock 2 times already when one of them died for similarly pointless reasons (remember: I didn't touch a thing!)
2. What the hell did my DFI do when loading defaults with the official shipped release (!) bios?!
I can't believe this crap is happening to me... again. Never touch a running system, I guess.
Never had such problems with my cheepo 667 Crucial Values also carrying D9GMH - and they only cost 50 bucks as opposed to 200, go figure
At least Cellshock MSC is located in Germany so I will have them RMAed within a few days. I certainly know the procedure :p:
sorry to hear that jcool
effet might have a point here.
Ah well, still sad to hear =/
so what is the real deal thing wrong with the "china" mobo's. i have one its rev: AA0. i guess it sucks i got one of these?? i keep reading a lot of people saying these china ones suck. someone please enlighten me. thanks
my board is damn picky i cant seem to do nothin with my mushkins need 2.32 just to get her stable
i put them in my p35 n they rockin @ 2.22
it even hates my micron fatties:mad: only likin d9gmh:(
anyone get past 555fsb on x38 or x48 with dfi
