Thanks but I can't even get into XP or anything else right now
Hi all.
i have an Asus P5W DH Delux. with an E6600 Conroe.
I was thinkin of buying a quad core Cpu such as the Q6700.
Im running Bios 2302
Would my board be ok. Is anyone running a system with these 2 components.
c
there are people running q6600 not sure of the 6700 but should be about the same
Rich
Thanks Rich (again lol) and mat.
sweet
np some have got 3.6 on there quads seems to help if you have the later rev 103g or 104g boards
Rich
I got 3.4ghz on my q6600 GO, but I cannot seem to get past 380FSB. With 1:1 ram ratio
thats a good clock for a quad i would be happy with it

Hello to all
I seem to be having issues overclocking this Cpu Mobo combo... It is an E2180 along with the P5W-DH Deluxe, OCZ Reaper PC26400 at 800 MHz timed 4-4-4-15 stock along with an 8800 GT, I have the cpu cooled with a ZALMAN CNPS7700-Cu, so I'm not really wooried about heat yet, also have a fan on the NB, trying to keep that sucker down.
When I try to get the CPU to 3.0 Gigs at 1.25 v all the rest at auto except I have disabled hyperpath 3, windows Vista keeps blue screaning on me but I do pass 3Dmark..odd stuff I find, also when I try to get 3.4 Gig at 1.425v again the rest at default except again hyperpath3, the system wont even boot.
I would love to get it at 3.6Gig but I don't think this Mobo will let me do that.
Would love some help, I have read alot of these pages but it seems to just address the e6600 ( don't have one..tight budget )
Also I have failed to mention the 3.0 Gig setup was with default multiplier.
Many Thanks
under jumper free set your ram for 1 on 1 lower and pci-e 100 or 101 pci to 33 you manufacters ram volts nb 1.65 fs 1.2 bump up mch also

Does anyone know how to enable 4GB of memory on this board.
im running 32bit vista ultimate.
specs below

Is this a pretty good setup ?

it seems fine...just not to sure about it.
does anyone here run Vista 64bit.. does it run just as good as 32bit?

Here are my idle temps:
Attachment 68536
Any ideas?
Also, where is the link to pencil mod for vdroop?
GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS
Good:
THE QX9650 WORKS WITH THE P5WDH. I'm using it right now at stock. I have no time to mess around with overclocking. Voltage control works (bumped it up to 1.4v, will lower it later). Using 2403 BIOS. Also there is FULL multiplier control apparently (not tested), so I suspect the MP issue is also fixed with the older chips, where it got broken with 1602+
Bad news:
ATTN: Larywild:
THIS CHIP DOES NOT WORK with your modified BIOS! And I suspect many other 45nm chips also will not work. With your BIOS, it detected a 600 mhz CPU, said ucode error, and any attempt to save any settings in the BIOS and exit, caused the computer to not POST ever again, until a CMOS reset.
I was able to download the 2403 BIOS and flash that (somehow the Ez flash utility still worked right after a CMOS reset) and it STILL didn't post, but after I cleared CMOS AFTER the flash: Presto=)
thanks Falkentyne thats good news for most of use nice to know

This made my day :D
Forget the overclocking. I'm having another problem, and it's serious.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone is going to be able to help with this, and I could be just completely screwed, but here goes...
Basically, the system is **SLOW**.
It seems to be using something like 1% of the available processing power.
It's FINE in safe mode, but NOT in normal mode.
I'm currently not at that system, but I did a 1M SuperPi run and I think it completed in something like 3 minutes and 48 seconds. I checked Speedfan and Coretemp, and the temps were going up by a whopping TWO degrees at best. I think speedfan went from 34C idle to 35C with Superpi/4 prime threads.
I ran Prime with 4 threads, and the temps went up by again, like 1C or something. I think the cores read: 31C, 32C, 27C, 30C.
When I did the same thing in safe mode, Speedfan went up a LOT more, to 48C. Also, the 1M SuperPi score was around 15.8 seconds...a LOT better than 3 minutes.
Is this a BIOS bug or something? (CPU-Z identifies the CPU, cache and etc correctly). Is this a problem with windows, that can be fixed somehow?
Note: EVERYTHING runs at proper speed if I disable 2 cores in the boot.ini, where the NUMPROC switch is. The problem is when I remove that switch and boot with all 4 cores.
Any suggestions, people? I updated to 2406 with no change.
I need to know if this is a BIOS bug, or is my OS improperly configured somehow, after using a Core 2 X6800 for a year?
I'll buy a new board if I have to, but I want to make SURE it's the board or the BIOS first.
This may not be of help, but why does System Properties, in control panel, say this? (again sorry no screenshots):
Computer:
Intel Core 2(TM) Extreme
CPU X9650 @ 3.00 ghz
360 mhz, 2.00 GB of RAM <---------???
Physical Address Extension <---------??? wth....
360 mhz?
PAE? WHAT? T_T
I changed the multiplier from 9 to 10, and that "360 mhz" became 400 mhz. (core speed was reported at 3.33 ghz).
On my older single core system, that exact same location had the CPU string for 3.4 ghz (P4 extreme Northwood), and showing 3.61 ghz. (yes, overclocked a bit, forgot the exact settings, but 3.6 ghz in BIOS).
Looks more like a driver bug than a hardware problem if Safe Mode works well.Quote:
When I did the same thing in safe mode, Speedfan went up a LOT more, to 48C. Also, the 1M SuperPi score was around 15.8 seconds.
Tried a clean install or another OS... erm, Vista?
