250K pot between pin 8 and ground will do Vcore on the ADP.
Thanks to HKpolice for getting the resistance measurements for me.
It's almost 1AM, I'm going to sleep. Any more mods will have to wait untill tomorrow. (Or be made by someone else)

Well after several days of being very frustrated by this board, tonight drew the last straw. That being I fried my Opty 175 with given it only 1.6v! ARGHH!!!
The board has its pluses, but there are a few things that really annoy me!
- Give it 1 wrong memory parameter, and poof, clearing of the CMOS is necessary to get it to turn back on. Never could get the recovery function to work.
- The Clear CMOS jumper and battery are in the WORST place for SLI! You have to remove the bottom card to get to the jumper and battery!
- The layout of the slots are really annoying. Asus should have kept to there original A8N-SLI layout!
- The BIOS to me is frustrating. I have used AMI bios' in the past, but why don't they group all of the memory and cpu settings together in the same menu?
These are just a few things. I know they are probably minor, but after taking the computer out of the desk countless times in the past few days to remove a video card just to be able to reset the CMOS, enough is enough! I'll have to contact AMD Monday to set up an RMA. For now, I am back on my NF4 SLI Expert with my trustworthy 4400+.
Good luck with the board!
250K to Pin8 doesn't work. Well, I soldered a 220K fixed + 50K VR and turned the VR down all the way, still no effect. Will try 150k fixed + 50K VR next.

There's no need to reset cmos at all on this board. If it doesn't post, kill the power on the psu and wait 2 seconds for the mainboard to drain the power. Flip it back on, hold Insert key while power on as usual. You'll then have to hit F1 to enter setup/bios.
Good to see one off the OCZ team have got there hands on the mobo :toast:
I most welcome post:woot:
nothing to do with my E-mail was it 'mackanz' ?
50K VR to Pin8 mod works. Thanks to craig588! I turned up the vcore to 1.65v and now the warm boot issues @ 2.75Ghz are gone 50% of the time.. if I press reset, it'll post 100% of the time, whereas before, I had to shutdown then power up again. It feels like there's something else causing the warm boots and upping the vcore only helps SLIGHTLY.
I was priming perfectly fine @ 2.75Ghz 1.61v before the mod, just that warm reboots would never post.
It is NOT caused by memory because I've tried UTT BH5, CE-6, and TCCD chips, all with and without dividers.
My theory is that during a warm reboot, the mobo applies the overclocked FSB before it applies the upped +0.2vcore (at least for X2 cpus). I assume this won't be a problem for cpus that don't need more than 1.55v or so, but any higher and it'll cause problems.
The current bioses are still full of bugs, so only time will tell if it will be fixed....
Not at all Zeus, not at all.
U have got your hands on the mobo thats all that counts :)Quote:

Mackanz,
I've dtiched it already,now i'm with a DFI Expert...:woot:
Yeah, I was too tired yesterday and screwed up in my math. I added in an extra zero. A 25K pot will be fine for the Vcore mod.
Someone help me with the Vdimm mod. The voltage goes up a little bit, about .1V, but then the machine shuts off. What's going on? I can't find any information on the chip either.
I really just want to do a 3.3= Vdimm mod, but I don't know if the memory is getting fed from the 5V line or the 3.3 line.
Edit: I'm tired of waiting. I'm going to do the mod and if I fry my regulators it will just be a warning to other people.

he was using an older thermaltake psu with a 20-24 pin adapter.
Hmm, might be the right time to ask, is using a 20 ping ATX connector with a 20>24 ping adaptor going to make much of a difference to this mobo?
Good thread, well done Ben 805 for being so helpfull. But to be honest, the DFI SLI-DR looks more tempting compared to all the problems this ones having.
It happens one Winnie died on me once within a week RMAing sorted it quick enoughQuote:

It's memtesting now. (I need to make sure it's not gonna pop the fets in a half hour when I'm trying to do something)
Do the 3.3 = Vdimm mod, you'll love it. The VTT it tracking too. (But it's still droopy, I need to add in another regulator to stabilize the VTT circuit)
can some one post a pic of where to measure the vdimm and vcore on the motherboard with a dmm. if it ahs already been posted just point me in the right direction. thanks again for all the great work.

The white side of that capacitor spot is Vdimm.
I don't have a handy photo for Vcore, but someone else might.
thanks bud
Be careful with 2GB, the cable I soldered is getting a little warm from all the current it's drawing. I might add another to help with the load.
Edit: There is good news though, after an hour of memtesting nothing on the board has popped so the mod's deemed safe by me. Don't try my other Vdimm mod, the memory regulators shut down after you add about .1V. It's pretty much useless.
We have Vcore and Vdimm, does anyone want any other mods?
Im sorry I read about 5 pages of this thread then I couldnt go on, I am in the process of buying a new mobo and I just wanted to know If you guys had come to a verdict concerning A8N32-sli-vs DFI lanparty.
Thanks
-Maximilian
If you don't mind soldering and modding this is a better mobo. If you want to use it stock get the DFI.
I own both.
I am extremely happy with the asus a8n32-sli. I have not done any mods to it and love it. I switched from a dfi sli-dr and it was the best upgrade i have ever done.Quote:

I am currently using an asus mobo(a7n8x delux) and i like the idea of using one again cuz i like the bios, Although i understand you can DL other bios:confused: but if the new asus can really OC better than the dfi then i will go for it. What would i need to solder?
O and can this mobo fit two watercooled 7800gtx 512's?
Thanks
