What is the importance of the onboard molex connector to feed more Wattage to the motherboard.
When / at what level of usage does the motherboard need the extra power and how is that working out.
For example. At about n.n Ghz you need to have the additional power connector in place.
When using n SSD/HDD you need to have that in place.
Also
Are there any PCU specification requirements for this board ie ATX12V v2.1 not recommented Or ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V or ATX12V v2.3 etc..

I hope your Saber board behaves better then mine, with Ivy all is fine here with the Corsair Plats 16GB 2666C11, but once I pop in my 2600K it only boots with max 4GB ( 2 x 2 or 1 x 4GB Dimm) Boot behaviour is very erratic with 2 x 4GB , leave alone 2 x 8GB dimms... no matter the speed selected, XMP profile,...
I have a 3570K on standby.
I am dealing with a strange problem> i have the deluxe version of the motherbooard and Intel I5 3570K processor.
In Win7 through the turbo evo app and having a multiplier of 45x i can reduce the voltage until 1.24 volts in offset mode and be stable but i cant boot with this voltage when i manually set it from bios (no offset mode).
In fact i cant even boot even if a set it at 1.35v. there is alwayz a blue screen as soon as i log on to windows.
In bios i have the following settings:
aI tUNER: xmp
BLK = 100
Turbo ratio manual
Ratio CPU = 45
Ratio synchronising control enabled
Epu power saving mode disabled
Memory frequency : 1600
PLL = AUTO
CPU bus speed = auto
DRAM Voltage = Auto
Turbo = enabled
Load line = auto
CPU :Spread spektrum auto
All other voltages are set to auto.
DIGI control is pretty much left to its default
C1E C2 c3 disabled
Can anyone tell me why this happens?
Does anyone have a link to a diagram or page that explains the differences between Asus' 19 different versions of their Z77 boards so I don't have to comb through the entire thread?

Everything can be found on ASUS site, takes just as long to type in all of them different mobo types... if you want to compare so many boards it's time to do it yourself, c'mon...
It's not exactly that simple, especially for someone who has been out of the overclocking mix for 4 years. The majority of the content on the product pages is marketing jazz created by a marketing team that doesn't understand creating 9 versions of essentially the same product is a terrible idea. Why today's mainboard manufacturers seem to have gone on a versioning binge I have no idea, but it creates problems for the consumer. I was just wondering if there's a simple chart or article that explains the differences in layman terms so I don't have to spend hours trying to figure out which board to buy. I'm not trying to be lazy - I just simply don't have the time to become a Z77 motherboard expert. I'm not a teenager like I was when I first joined XS, and unfortunately real life catches up.Quote:

If you can nail it down to eg 5 boards you can compare them on the ASUS website.
The V LE series mostly have the S-ATA ports in an upright position, which is comon on low end series, this can be a pain if you install a GPU with a big cooler or multiple GPU's and you need to use all the S-ATA ports. Premium boards have extra features like extra USB front headers, WIFI sometimes etc...

If it's for gaming and one GPU : Gene V is a brilliant mobo
Daily work : Z77V or V pro
Hardcore gaming with multiple GPU's : The Formula board
If you are stable in offset with low voltage, why don't you simply leave it that way. Offset is preferred anyway with lower voltage and heat at idle.
Can anyone tell me why my second PCI-e slot is stuck at 1x? I'm using 2x 5870 on my Maximus V Gene, the first slot runs PCIe 2.0 8x but the second one only PCIe 2.0 x1. I'm not using the mPCIe slot or the open ended 4x PCIe slot. Just the two red ones.
I have tried all settings in bios for the slots, auto, GEN1, GEN2 and GEN3. No matter what i set it to, it stays at 8x and 1x.
I'm on bios 1101 and Catalyst driver 12.8 Tried at least 10 different drivers the last days, all to no avail.
For P8Z77 WS there is a new Bios update market: P8Z77 WS formal released BIOS version 3105

I just powered up a new ASUS P8Z77-V and I was hoping it would come with one of the latest BIOS versions but I have 0906.
I will be using Windows 7 64-bit and it's unlikely I'll ever update to Windows 8.
I don't want to use a beta version so should I use the latest BIOS or an earlier one?

1406 was no good for some people, when pushing delete to get in the bios sometimes it wouldn't work. I'm using 1504 on mine with Windows7x64 for a while now and it works great.
I just got a new asus p8 z77 pro v that came with the 1406 and I can get into the BIOS. When I went to the ASUS site a few days ago that version was not up for win 7 64.
I was wondering if there was something wrong with 1406 and if I should flash to 1504?
Just checked ASUS site again and it is not there (1406)???
For now I've updated to the 1504 BIOS.
After I've got some hands on experience with my new toy I'll move it to a HAF 932 that's full of water cooling components.

Bios 1616 is out now for P8Z77-v
Have this strange problem.
Updated my bios from 0703 -> 3205 and everything went fine and I decided to put my OC back again and then save+exit bios.
Then this thing wouldnt boot so I had to reset CMOS and then I got it to boot again.
But now the system only detects 8gb out of 16gb. And I have no options to change multiplier and so on.
System is
ASUS P8Z77 WS
Intel 2600K
4 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
I've tried everything from backflash back to 0703 etc but nothing works. Is my board bricked or is the CPU damaged in some way?
Solved it by using afuwingui and ticked "program all blocks"
Now everything works!
