omg my next upgrade is starting to appear.....
X79 chipset boards are being shown at computex.....I like what they've done with the new socket, the cooler bracket is part of the socket and has threaded holes! No more annoying backplates
4x4GB kits of quad channel ram is going to be cheap at $130

I dont get why new boards have Dual triple channel dont get it I got 6 Stick of DDR3 if I update to p55, z68 or x79 ill end up with a Memory performance decrease why do the y do this?? apart from that I like the idea of Pci Ex 3 and the amount of Sata connection.... apart from that doesnt have any thing else special.... not happy with the new technology Intel is introducing lately... :(
Its quad channel memory, which is faster than triple channel and faster than dual channel. They just put 2 slots on each side of the socket because there isnt much room for quad channel memory traces to run to one side of the socket.
Also, by the time we see this board they will have 8 GB memory sticks allowing for 32GB total.
They put it like this - 2slots each side - because of distance - the 4th slot will be too away from slot 1. That's why they are in this combination. I've seen x79 with 8 slots already !

Anyone can get the USB 3.0 working?? I can't get it to run Usb 3.0 speed. I already installed driver from cd and download from Asus website. Need help

I havent tested speed so cant comment on that but its the latest firmware and driver for that device.

I ran crystal disk benchmark for usb thumbdrive 3.0, and speed was not at 3.0 rated speed.
I tried the thumbdrive on my second rig P8Z68-V-PRO everything was fine at usb 3.0 speed
It make me want to dump this X58 for the Z68

Most people (including me) have their uclk at 2x memory speeds, every guide i've ever seen says to leave uclk on Auto or 2x memory speed but increasing it makes a big difference to memory performance.
Testing was done with AIDA64 Cache and memory benchmark. CPU is overclocked to a moderate 3.85Ghz with memory at 1400Mhz (7-7-7-20)

So as you can see the uclk makes a big difference to memory performance without raising any voltage or memory speed.Read speed increased 1500MB/s, write speed increased 2000MB/s and copy speed increased 4000MB/s. I might keep pushing it to see what happens......

This is the highest setting without raising voltage, the next setting 3850Mhz didnt work on the same voltage. I'm using the 3300Mhz setting, using the same voltage and you a get a ~15% increase in memory performance.
You will need to raise QPI/VTT soon.
Test your system for stability too.
Yes raising uclk is ok for increasing memory bandwidth but you will need much more qpi/vtt voltage and... you might kill your IMC
I can set the uclk up to 3650Mhz without raising voltage but yes at 3850Mhz you need more voltage.Quote:

I have an issues on this mobo....
Everytime I restart the machine, it goes on and off twice (like old DFI feature), it kind a bother me, especially due to time taken if I need to restarting.
I used 1501 BIOS, it's a good BIOS, (Running i7 950@4,2@183x23@1,4v only with Noctua D14 daily).
But I hate the on and off thing everytime I restart, is it because the memory recheck feature of the new BIOS since 1401 ?
Is there anyway I can disabled it in the BIOS so I can have normal restart ?
Love this board and I'm still going to hold on to it since it does everything it needs to do but was curious if there have been any other suggestions for triple channel memory modules 12g vs the Corsair Dominator 6g. I like the low latency of the Corsairs versus the Gskill that are out there ( the triple 12g of Gskill run well under 2T with high latency ). But have you or anyone experimented further with different memory modules ?

I had mine originally on water as well but I've since took all the water off and am living with a Nocutua hsf fan instead since I sold of the 970 and picked up a second hand I7930 - good enough for me with an ATI 7950. I just bought this Ram and hope it works out:\\
