Thanks, I will give it a try
above the cpu socket, a bit towards the ram slots i think soz not at home and way pissed lol
edit: yes it is above the cpu socket its labelled ADP3180 hope that helps :)
Hi,
my first post:
Well, I have tried the pencil mod with a 6B and it worked, I could go further than 2,3V. The Problem is, that the board wont start when the Vdimm is higher then 2,1 V, or it freezes in the bios or while loading winVista.
I have 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz, I think thats the Problem, but I wont use only 2 GB, since I bought 4.
When I start with 410 FSB with 2,05 V (My Board has 2,05 V when I set 2,1V), the pc starts, but freezes while loading windows, it needs more Volt.
So, i pencil moded the resistor and I measured 2,1 V, I started and the PC freezes while Loading, without BSs (before the pencil mod I saw BSs).
And when I set Volt to 2,2 and higher, the pc wont start at all...
With 2 GB I could go higher then 450 FSB and the PC still started, with 4 GB I have weird errors.
I hope you can help me.
How many here have an E8*** chip in this board? I'm interested by this statement from Madshrimps:
Quote:
This reminds me of the early Conroe motherboards as we had to wait a few months to have high FSB frequencies as the first chipset that was capable of running high FSB's was the 965. The latest chipset are not ready to take the 45nm chips beyond 600+ FSB and most of the boards will be stuck at 550MHz FSB or less on air cooling. The P35/X38's all have the same issues, so the only solution is a newer chipset or better support for the Wolfdale and Yorkfields. However, something strange occured when reading about this issue and talking to people who tried to bypass these problems. It seems that one of the older chipsets, the 965, have no problem at all reaching 620MHz FSB on air cooling! So in order to max out your CPU, you'll have to find a P5B or Commando. On air, however, every motherboard will do well.
I will admit to not having read the whole thread. I only skimmed the last few pages, but I really didn't see much on it.
hello overclockers!
a new version of SetFSB 2.0.b.19r overclocks P5B Vanilla in Windows. ^^
the PLL is ICS9LPRS552AGLF.

its a beta, but it works with my board.
thank u Abo for a great job !
I got a new problem.
Just bought OCZ Reaper PC8500....
So they will post and push beyond 1100mhz with a very LOW FSB and a high divider like say 350 but if I run my fsb at 426 with a divider which results in 1066 for the ram it wont post.
I always ran 430FSB with a 1:1 divider on a set of old Patriots 5300.
However with these 8500 I can only run at 1:1 at FSB @ 430, making the ram run @ 430...Which is what, nearly 100mhz underspeed....And if I set the divider to 1066 then it just wont post.
I tried whole range of timings and volts. I did the Vdim mod, giving me 2.35 under 2.1 in bios.
Any suggestions?
Different dividers are part of different straps, and even then, different dividers within the same strap may not have the same ease of setting.
Generally, with p965's, 400fsb with 4:5, some boards have trouble as is. Beyond 400fsb and wanting to use anything but 1:1 or 2:3 is generally incredibly difficult.
If you're insistent on using 4:5 at 426fsb, you're going to probably need a ton of vmch to do it.
THanks for the reply, I thought the thread was dead :p:
And yes, you def seem right because no mater what sticks I have used before, at over 400fsb nothing will work at anything more then 1:1.
The good news is that I seem to be running stable at 460 1:1 with 4-4-4 :yepp: THats 30 gain on my old OC, and much tighter timings.
Now that ram is not stopping me I guess I can push it further...just need to do the Vdroop mod, for which I cant seem to find a diagram :(
Hi guys,
I wander if DDR2 1066 can be used in P5B (in manual highest RAM mentioned is DDR2 800), Can you post your RAM specs.
Thanks
V.
i was able to use 2:3 fine at 400fsb for 1200ddr2
Guys is CPU-Z a good tool to measure voltages?
Cause according to CPU-Z my V-droop is not that bad.
I only get a 0.016 drop....not 0.06..
only mod I did is the vdimm mod.
Hey all:
I got about $200 to $300 and I want to upgrade something in the next few months on this system. Any suggestions on what would be the best bang for the buck?
All suggestions welcome.
:welcome:
It depends~ Are you Gaming? Maybe the BFG 8800 GT OC~ The GT is 199 & gt oc 219 or something...On sale if you get a game (bb) or maybe a new cpu? the e8500 (I am sure there are deals on quads if you are into video editing or stuff that utilizes them) & I bet there are other card deals.
I want to keep it somewhat balanced. I do a little of everything. Games, vidio, web surfing. What I want is to spend some now and not have to spend a $1000 in 6 months or a year.
sorry to resurrect this thread,
I have an E6600 with DDR2-800 RAM running on this board, my FSB wall is 341MHz, I just can't break it, even if I choose crazy voltages for both the CPU and the MB.
My RAM can't be the problem, because I even run it below the real DDR80 (400MHz)
Are there any mods, slutions to break this wall? I feel like my CPU can do a lot more than 3069 MHz.
You are up close to the dreaded FSB wall that affected P5B's and the 965 chipset when they were the latest thang on the street.
It's the NB chipset that starts to get hugely overclocked as you reach past 340-370 FSB (I forgot how the maths goes).
As "LisijBOB" says, Put your FSB to 401 to get past the 333 strap and things should settle down.
I'm not sure if the article is still around but.............http://www.thetechrepsitory.com has a good write-up on it
Hey All: Sorry to keep this thread alive but I have decided to upgrade and you all have been very helpful in the past. I have money to upgrade the MB, chip and ram OR the graphics card and power supply. I am not sure which would be better at this time.
I am looking at the ¡7
Any help and opinions would be great
Sorry to bring this thread avlive as well but was there ever a fix for the 533fsb issue. I am overclocking a PD805 and if I select any memory divider besides the default one the system wont boot. Running 166fsb and DDR2-443 , DDR2-553 and DDR2-6## with not boot , i'm running bios 1803. Should I try bios 0170?Thanks in advance.
