Does anyone know when the Murdermod US site will be back up and running? I did a search on google and clicked the link only to find an update page posted there. Would love to order from them as the shipping will be mega reduced over shipping from Europe, I'm in Canada.
The MDPC-X shipping prices were significantly reduced this year, see here for the updated prices: http://en.mdpc-x.com/low-internation...pping-cost.htm

would like to know what these connectors are, the hub in the middle where all the sata(?) cords plug into looks like?
http://img7.abload.de/img/cases229uf9.jpg
as for this
http://dangals.skinneelabs.com/299.jpg
after popping off the plug and removing it from the wires like so
http://dangals.skinneelabs.com/300.jpg
can I just sleeve over the whole wire or should i wrap that area with black electrical tape, I don't need the extra plugs as I only use 1-2 plugs and sometimes those connectors come with 4 plugs.
Nice :)
Combat green + Gigabyte G1-Killer would look very good :)

Suddenly, Asus Sabertooth boards become viable for MDPC builds...

Nils sweet :)
Just checked the website and saw combat green. Huge influx of new colors, this is pretty awesome!
Georgeous Xien...!!!!!
Amazing job.
Hey Martin. Is that middle picture the color-x and the bottom picture regular red.
I'm trying to see what black/red and black/color-x look like. If anyone else has black/red or black/color-x pics please through some up, preferably both of them in one pic for a direct comparison.
Thanks all.
im in love with some of the new colors, but i dont know how thick the SATA sleeves are,
i plan to do about 4 wires per sleeve to keep the total thickness down while still having flexibility (probably 3 wide for PCIe)
are there any photos of people using the sata wires for multi wire sleeves?
i'd say stick to 3 per sleeving, 4 was too thick for me, worked out best with 3..
i ended up buying some really cheap sleeving form mcmaster thats 1/8", to see how well that works, and then when its time to do the real thing i might fork out the cash for some mxpc color-x
would be nice if they listed actual ID range on their sleeving so people who dont plan on using just one wire can tell how it will work out compared to the rest of the worlds options.
I did you can fit 4 np. Just did it last week. Just single shrink the ends put sleeve to end of single shrink and shrink the works. The single shrink provides a base to prevent slippage.
I fubar'ed mine up between using most of my single shrink on custom cables and my carpal tunnel doing it without single shrinking first means they start pulling off the end.

I actually like a lot the new colour!!
http://en.mdpc-x.com/components/com_...cd5c9c1e5e.jpg
Finally we will be able to use Noctua fans with according sleeving :D
Here its one of my failures but I destroyed them all in a fit of rage after finding out I miss measured my cable length. And wasted most of my single shrink.
Each wire should be heatshrinked individually then Sata sleeve and sata heatshrink.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_8...0/DSC_0389.jpg
Otherwise the pull off the ends as shown below.
You can check my build for some bad photos of my results , personally the more I look at it the more I don't like it .
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_8...6/DSC_0397.jpg
i was looking around the MDPC cases and one popped out with an intersting idea
they used shrink that was able to wrap around the connector aswell, so its a seamless link between connector and sleeving by the heatrsink
hope they dont mind me linking too it
http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/gal...ton-mk2-13.jpg
That's not the most secure way to do it, tends to slip off. But should work this is all personal choices.
In that build he sleeved all cables as one with large not 3-4 with sata.
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
is that just 1 sleeve covering all of the pcie cables or has it got separate sleeving under it ?
Can you guys, especially Martin S and Xien 16 show how far back from the pin you cut the sleeve? And also how far up the pin the heatshrink goes?
Thanks.
Just put the cable into the plug, push the sleeve as near to the plug as it is possible, remove the cable + sleeve out of the plug (without getting out of place) and you have the position ;)
Right i get you thanks :) Was still getting that gap between end of sleeve and connector. Seems so obvious now you told me :D
Perfect :)
I only did this on a few cables.
Now I have one finished model and just hold the new cable beside it ;) (did ~200 pins / 100 cables with this model)
And I just noticed something - @ guilleguillaume:
Do you have the permission from Nils to show his pictures?
http://h-2.abload.de/img/fans3c99l.jpg
Cool, thanks Xien. Gonna get stuck into it tomorrow. I have Nils pin removal tool, but these pins in the Corsair psu's are stubborn bastards, but i found the ultimate removal tool!! Cant believe how good it works :D
I've never writen that the pictures are mine, it's just obvious that the screen pic comes from MPDC-X and I just posted here what I saw new in his main page. Don't see the problem in posting his pics from his page when I'm not saying that they're are mine. It have the MPDC-X label so don't know what's wrong with doing it, just talking about his new color with the only pic we have on the internet.
If Nils doesn't like it will be so easy to ask me not to do that but right now he didn't tell anything about that so don't know what's wrong with it and you telling me that
MDPC-X photo changed to link
Hello guys,
As I see, you do an excellent sleeving , i would like to ask some things.
I recently bought a Seasonic X-750W, i want to shorten the cables but... should I cut and weld the wire or should I cut the wire and put the crimping conectors again and set the sleeve?
I donīt have the crimping tool to do it... is there another way to crimp the conector?
Greetings.
i just started messing around with my wires and im making them all shorter too
im not too worried about not having a proper crimp tool, a little bit of solder should hold quite well. and the long ends of the pin that grab onto the wires shrink i just clip shorter and bend them over instead
i was looking around for a proper crimp tool, and i might fork out the 25$ from frozencpu or performance-pcs when i buy some other things.
8 pin EPS cable done. Pics arent the best, look dark, trying to get used to this camera:rolleyes:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...a/DSC02386.jpg
Happy that the heatshrink is pretty uniform, mainly coz i bought Nils pre cut heatshrink :D And thanks Xien for your little tips!
I have another question for Xien16 or Martin S :D
What do you do to the double wired cables on the 24pin and pci-e cables? I tried with my last psu but because the double wire is too bulky when you heatshrink it, it just wont fit in the connector :/
I picked up a Phoyba Extractor Kit and am having trouble removing the atx cables with the atx extractor tool.
Anyone else run into problems with this kit?
I allways get myself Silverstone Strider PSUs (watch out - some low power versions are non 100% modular Striders)
There you only have one of these double cables.
One thing you could do is turning it around so the double pin is on the PSU side.
Or you can just leave the thin one of this cable away (if you do your own cables)
And what I do is scratching away the circuit (on the board in the PSU) that goes to the thin one on the PSU side and connecting it directly in the PSU with an orange cable.
On this way you can do a 100% 1:1 cable and all of the 24 pins are there (normally one pin has to be left away on the MB-Side)

it's offtopic I know but I need to ask you guys about those LCD info panels, any idea where can I get them? model? info? im interested in both temperature and those side lcd's as seen in the link below (scroll down for images, to the very bottom)
http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/sys.../murderbox.htm
was looking over at frozencpu but didnt find anything that would be close to that. maybe you guys know anything?
You can get them nearly everywhere ;)
Most cheap ones use the "HD44780" chip - just search for it on ebay :)

xien where did u get yellow and purple sleeve? yellow looks sexy!!
Thanks for that Xien. For now im gonna sleeve an extension i have then will order some AWG18 wire, mdpc-x crimp tool and some pins and make my own extensions :D I think i have the bug now :D
Oh, and that copper sleeve is really a good match for copper heatsinks etc :)
Hello guys,
I would like to sleeve this cable, but i donīt know how. I have MDPC-X small sleeve and sata sleeve.
http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/6228/img2526e.jpg
Greetings.
same as any 3 pin, take the sleeving off, put the tool in and push the cable forward, then give it a straight pull.. shouldnt be that hard.. i find 24 pins to be more of a challenge..
Not at all :D
This is a 2.54mm housing and no 4.2mm mini fit so there is no use for "the" tool and you can't push it in from the front (you can but that will destroy the plug)
First you have to peel off the shrink on the plug.
After that you can see some sort of brackets - lift them a little bit with a thin screw driver or a scalpel (watch out, these break if you lift them too much)
And then pull on the cable - but only on the one you are working on (the other 8 are still fixed in the plug)
You are kidding aren't you???
Same place where I got these:

Pretty colors....:) and very nice red and black
does anyone happen to have any color shots of combat green or brown?
edit: i think that sata cable is brown if im not mistaken. looks good.
edit 2: went back a few pages and saw combat green.
would love to see more pics of it out in the wild though :)
can any 1 show me a shot of how orange, grey and black would look? old grey and titanium grey as well...orange black is a no brainer but i wanna see what happens when grey comes in too.
I recently had some sleeving done by Martin_S, it is on my way right now so I'll post pics once received but I don't have a good camera haha. These are by far the BEST sleeving work done by any member I have seen. He is a member on XtremeSystems "Martin_S". His service is top notch and a very good guy to work with, he sent me updates daily and sent pictures of each sleeving once they were done.
I will definitely be ordering from him again, he honestly takes pride in his work and does an immaculate job as you will see in the pictures below of what he just created for me. Its pure perfection! He uses nothing but MDPC-X sleeving and can either do extensions or actual PSU connectors but you would need to send in your modular PSU cables so he can knows where the wires go.
Anyway without further a DEWWWWW here are some pics of the work he did for me.
1x 24 pin extension
1x 8 pin extension
4x 6pin PCIE extensions
It took him less than 4 days to complete and I'm sure I wasn't the only order he was trying to complete, okay enough stalling here are the pics.

but most of you guys already know about martin_s but I JUST HAD TO POST SOMETHING because of how amaze I am of his work! thanks Martin!
Beautiful choice of colors Phaseshift I'm also going to be ordering in a couple of months from Martin, I've seen no one better. Also would one of you guys be able to post up a comparison shot of the red vs color x mdpc sleeving as I'm struggling to decide which one to get.
Nice color combination Phaseshift
wraithien get both (black, x-color, red) :D
Very very nice Phaseshift this would look awesome with a Asus P67 board here..

I do have that board hahaha which is one of the reasons why i love it sooo much. I've got the 2500k and p8p67 pro I'm waiting for more waterblocks to come out in hopes that they'll make one for the p8p67.
I know mips has it but I'm also waiting for charles, then its gonna be an epic build :)
That's my color scheme for my new build.
Black, Orange, Titanium Grey.

i need a psu done how much
Quick question, I found a diagram of the 24pin on my PSU and what color goes where. Does it matter which of the 3 orange wires go in which hole or which of the five red wires go in each...so on and so on.
Hope that makes since..
it makes sense, but I have no idea.
I guess it's up to you since each color means one different voltage, but can someone confirm?
all colors represent the same voltage, you should be safe plugging any wire into any port of the same color
(this however does not work if your PSU comes with only black cables 'points at corsair HX psu')
i just did my seasonic, and its kinda funny since i have 28 wires coming out of my PSU, and 24 going into the MB, with 4 being merged together (extra orange, red, black and yellow, all about half as thick), i ended up not using them and tested, everything worked fine, so i clipped them off :D
I don't understand how you can not use the 4 merged cables, how can it work without them? o_o
they could have been used to just distribute more load, the thickness and quality of the wire determines how much energy they can let pass before overheating, and maybe those are there to just support some power spikes. all i know is everything works the same and since they merge (2 orange going out of the psu into one orange of the MB), i doubt theres any NEED for them. i did however clip them so i can see what colors they were, so if i ever have to replace them, i know where they connect too.
i actually owe you guys some sleeving pictures, did all but the PSU, cause ran out of sleeving, and i was more worried about things working rather than looking nice
I have a cosair HX but it does have the colored wires. It also has the 4 merged wires like u mentioned.
I sleeved the pcie power cables on it last night. It looks good, not as good as some I have seen on here, but certainly much better then it did. I had to move my sleeving and heat shrink back a little on the wire because try as I did, I could not get the wires back in the plug with the heat shrink that close to the end like I see in these posts.
interesting
my HX620 modular has black for all cables but the 24pin and 8pin for motherboard (both of those are not modular)
the extra 4 merged wires are from my seasonic, no idea if my corsair is the same, i can look at it later.
i also had problems with fitting, ill explain later when i get some pictures up.

sadly my cameraphone is the only one i have, so the colors are not quite what it looks like in person. the red is much darker, almost maroon colored because its wrapped around black wires, and the black sleeving is wrapped around yellow in most of those, also around red and orange wires on the sata cable. it has a very nice dark yellow earthy tone to it
i also ordered more so i can sleeve the 24pin this weekend
That's pretty sweet, although I'm not sure I'd choose a fabric style sleeve over the ones I'm currently using.
There was one thing that really stood out on his website though: A molex pin remover that looks comfortable to use
heheh yes it is :), i have polyester sleeve too :), but this is fabric sleeve is great too !, but you can admit that this fabric sleeve looks 100times better then regular mdpc-x and Djungelapa sleeve ;), btw djungelapa is the swedish dealer for sleeve, its just as good as mdpc-x and the quality is the same!
Yes it is, but every pinremover out there are bad! all brakes off, i made my own one ;)
some beautiful thing i like to do with sleeve :)
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...a/Dsc_4501.jpg
this first braidtypen is that one that im going to use on my latest sleeveproject with the fabric sleeve ;)
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...a/Dsc_4478.jpg
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...a/Dsc_4475.jpg
It looks nice an all, but i prefer my mdpc. It has that certain bling factor :)
lol @kskz: Badmouthing others ("is the same", which is simply not true, and the swedish people know) to promote people who sell shoelace material, which you can buy in regular hobby shops (for a very specific hobby, in every country) for 20 to 30 cent per meter, has lots of class.
i didnt badmouth no one :), i just said how i think :), and serriously i havent seen any pinremover that can hold more than 1-2 powersupplies, i had one from u too but it broke aswell :/ but it did hold better than sunbeam etc :D, i made one of steel and it has hold abou 8powersupplies and 15-16 extensions :D, it holds better because it a litle bit flexible :), yeah i know but i havent seen any other shop in whole sweden which has that good sleeve like u nils and stefan makes :), you both have awsome sleeve :D!
Here is another pic of the fabric-sleeve from the Djunelapa owner himself. Looks much better on this pic but im not sure it beats MDPC.
http://www.shphotographer.com/stuff/_MG_4604.jpg
Commerce takes over the forums. Send the advertisers into forums :D Give them free items, so they push companies and tell everyone how fantastic things are^^
Reality:
Shoelace-Sleeve does not allow to shape the wires, because it is too soft. It doesn't make the wire-shape sturdy, so you have little curves in the cables which you can't get rid off. Same as if you use nothing on wires.
Shoelace-Sleeve does not expand, so you can't use it on SATA cables or on 3-wire fan cables at once, only single, which is ridiculous to sleeve micro cables individually.
Shoelace-Sleeve hairs the more you touch it over time. It is a pure dust magnet.
Shoelace-Sleeve (the fantastic new invention^^) is so old. You find it at ebay (and in hobby stores) for 10 Euro incl. 19% tax for 100 meters, so 8 Euros net for 100 meters :D. Where? I tell later, when the commerce-people have built up something ... and then the rip-off of modding-enthusiasts will be revealed.
You also find the Shoelace sleeve on every cheap round rubber band with fabric enclosure. :D
There will be unemployed people when the truth is revealed. But it would be not enough fun to do so now.
Isnt it just like parachute cord?
Yes it is the same as paracord, just smaller and without an inner core to take out first (that's why it is so much cheaper in the real market (not the modding market^^) than even the already very cheap paracord). It's a standard material which protects the inner core from abrasion, which is mostly used over rubbers, lines and ropes. Paracord is the same but just with a bigger diameter.
If you ever worked with paracord, you know how hard it is to get the "sleeve" over the cable with pins on the end because of snagging and no expansion-possibilities (5% maximum). Now you can imagine how tough it is to use a smaller version of Paracord :D
Taping of the pins is a solution, but it still takes much longer to "sleeve" a wire with pin on it, because the diameter of this Shoelace-Sleeve is not much bigger than the wire itself (paracord is easier because it's bigger). It takes me 3-5 minutes to get a shoelace-sleeve onto one wire with a pin on it compared to 5 to 10 seconds with real sleeve.
And at the end of the day, you are not able to get the "zigzag" out of the wire, if the zigzag was on the wire before. Putting all the hassle of work aside, this is the big fail on such a thing.
With real sleeve, you can straighten the wires, so they even stand horizontal in the air as a straight line, when it is stretched correctly. Remember fhantastic|Ferhans photos and of course Janik and Martin :D
Hairing, dust collection and impossible usage on 3-fan-wires at once (with pins at the end), SATA data cables, USB cables etc. is just an additional nogo.
Anyway: It's fun watching the advertisers running through the forums, not knowing what they're doing :D
Advertiser*
Haven't even tried out the new sleeve. The reason i posted the pic was to prevent someone to just look at the pictures before and say "looks so i gues it is bad".
You have to agree that the pictures does a lot, and with the superhigh quality pics of the MDPC sleeve everything else just looks bad. ;)
The result in a system matters, not photos of macros - correct? And the wire-zigzag on longer wires in a full system and open question what to do with SATA, USB, fans, Frontpanel connectors, in order to achieve a harmonious result etc. is still there.
The appeal of Shoelace-looks in a technological environment is of course everyones own taste :)
Sorry that I thought you're an advertiser!
Need to go back to life, now that technically everything is explained so far.^^
I was about to make a major order off of mdpc but I really want to make sure I'm ordering the right color for my project. The pictures I quoted in my last post are orange sleeving according to the following link:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=261328
I really would like to see what the yellow sleeving looks like under UV light. If anyone may please fulfill this request, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks :)
Been reading forums for years but just started posting. Gonna have to put together a build log for my upcoming system. Thought I would post this bit here anyway.
Sleeving with Paracord sounded too cheep to be true... I have to say, WOW. This stuff looks amazing. The green practically glows in the dark! :D

I paid 6.95 per hundred feet. Bought 100ft green and 100 black. Still need to do my SATA Cables. I will probably need closer to 300 feet to finish the project with full length individual sleeving on an AX 850.
Guys, don't take it too personal, but it's very hard to believe users with that little post count and recent join date promoting products. :)
The green and black color looks nice but i personally wont buy those sleevings. I perfer the mdpc-x sleevings or anything similler.
I've been checking malik's pc's for few years now and i just love his builds, just wish i could do anything like him. If you check malik's new pc and old pc's photos you'll find the differents in the sleeved cables.
