I'm using P35-DS3L. Which BIOS version should i use for overclocking?
Sorted out my cycle ON/OFF/ON/OFF problem.
It was the webcam. When it was connected it caused that behaviour.
Weird huh?
hey i got a p35 ds3r, was there ever a fix for the "bios resetting on reboot" problem?
I had a 965 S3 before this one and got this one free months ago and switched to it.. for a few months it was ok cuz i was running default but now its really annoying when booting up. I shoulda kept teh 965 S3 as there was no problems/differences in performance..
Would a pencil volt mod help with the rebooting issue?

What's the range for the FSB wall on a P35-DS3R?
And is there any point in getting the new BIOS?
Now is official and on the Gigabyte site
Any reason to get the new BIOS?
As per info:
1.Update CPU microcode(Wolfdale/Yorkfield) new E0-stepping
2.Fix S3 resume fail
3.Fix audio latency
Btw,waiting for new E8600 with E0 stepping
im using a ds3r and wondering if anyone is using a gtx260 and notice any problems. Just wondering since the board is pcix 1.0 while the card is a pcix 2.0.
They just released a New f11 bios *final* for p35c-ds3r. has anybody tried it out? reviews? new features? comments? overclock any better? ram voltage any better? did they fix the automatic fan control mode selection? did they fix anything? stability?
I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but I didn't see a more appropriate one.
The GA-EP35-DS3L just had the F5 bios released this month. It comes with a utility to flash from Windows, but it doesn't work on Vista 64-bit, so how would I flash to the new bios? I don't have a floppy drive. I want to do this because the F4 bios has a glitch with the voltages not sticking to any settings you pick.
is that the ga-p35-ds3r rev1.0??? i had that one and had to RMA it cause it wouldnt work with the E8400 cpu. i have the 2.0rev now and it works fine. temps are a little higher than others. i dont think these gigabyte boards are truely set up for the wolfdales...the P45 chipsets are out and i think they(gigabyte) has done a good job with them for the wolfdales.
revision 3.3? ive heard of 2.1 but not that one. night have to look into it
this is all assumeing you are talking about the DS3R board...lol
I guess I finally have to get myself a USB drive, I've managed to avoid it for years because I never really "needed" one. Any good guides on how to do the Qflash? I downloaded the .exe from Gigabyte that extracts an ep35ds3l.f5 file, as well as an autoexec.bat and FLASHPI.exe, but FLASHPI won't work in Vista 64.
What do I put on the USB key? the ep35ds3l.f5 file I assume.
Use the guide from Gigabyte....Search is your friend....;)
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/...ios_qflash.pdf
save the exe file you downloaded from Gigabyte on to your usb thumb drive. restart your pc and go into your mobo bios. follow that link I gave you on how to flash with QFlash. It's not difficult. :)
p.s. after you're done flashing the bios restart the pc and then go back into the bios and load fail safe settings and reboot pc.
Anybody have any experience with the overclocking/control software that Gigabyte uses if the temps are accurate or the overclocking feature works or not.
Just got my GA-P35-S3G going and wondering if i should monkey with it or not.
Here is a good link to a "Gigabyte X38/P35/P965 (DS* DQ* S3) Overclocking and General BIOS tweaking Guide" from Tweaktown: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...g-guide-26112/
I got a pile of good information when I bought my EP35-DS3R. Coming from ASUS, the Gigabyte BIOS was a bit confusing.
The bios seems pretty straightforward but i did try the auto settings and noticed my voltages set way too high i guess i wont be using that anymore.
Also i had problems with the bios resetting itself during bootup maybe there another bios i can use ?
Everything else seems to be working ok just too bad i could not afford a little better model im worried about the lack of heatsinks on this thing.

Ok problem solved got the E6850 to 3.4 so far i need to wait until my arctic silver cures a bit im running around 60-65 deg C with an extra 80 mm fan pulling on the A/C Freezer. Hopefully i will drop a few degrees once the cure is completed and the hot weather is gone 3.6 is my goal so far so good. Ran orthos for 5 1/2 hours on blend and had to raise the cpu voltage a bit to keep from failing. Great board so far im pleased with my purchase.:D
How well does ds3p/ds4 handle quads? Goes over 475MHz?
HEY ALL. I Just replaced ny GA-P35-DS3R 2.0revision with a GA-EP35C-DS3R 2.1revision
is there gonna be any noticable changes in this board other than the DDR3 slots?
and if anyone that has this board. did yours come with the NB cooler bolted to the mobo or have the plastic white push pins? my P35-ds3r had the push pins. a buddy of mine has the same board as i do now and his has the push pins as well. mine has the cool bolted down and is alot more sturdy.
can anyone tell me whats the highest fsb on p35 dq6? and which ics to use in soft fsb ,im at 555 fsb so far on air .

Do you see any improvment on F9A?
Having a GigaByte P35-DQ6 Rev 1.0 and having major cold boot issues since upgrading BIOS from F4 to F8
After the F8 BIOS update the computer would be stuck in a boot loop (ON/OFF/ON/OFF/ON/OFF...) without even initialized the video on every cold boot (warm boot works perfectly fine). The only way to get the MB up running again was to break the power and clear the CMOS, after that it booted and allowed me in to the BIOS settings again and of course I had to reset all BIOS settings!?
Seeing Gigabyte pulled F8 from their site and released F9A I downloaded it and re-flashed with Q-Bios (and loaded "Fail-Safe Defaults" etc.). At first things looked OK but next day when I pushed the power button I'm now greeted with a blinking power LED and the text shown below on the screen (this is on cold boots only, warm boots or resuming from S3 works perfectly fine)...
----
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0

Scanning BIOS Image in Hard Drive ...
BIOS Auto-Recovering ._
----
After pressing the reset button a couple of times it boots up OK and everything works fine until the next time I shut down the computer. At least F9A isn't stuck in a booting loop and improved somewhat so I don't have to clear the CMOS everytime I completely shut down the computer and restart it the next day but thats only a minor help...
The computer have been running perfectly fine - except for issues when waking up from S3 (STR) that I tried to fix with the BIOS update - for almost a year with F4 BIOS and the hardware/settings are the same (see below) and no OC. I've also tried with a brand new PSU but problem was the same.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 (@ stock 3.0 GHz)
Gigabyte P35-DQ6 (Rev 1.0) with F9A BIOS
2x1 GB Corsair Dominator CM2X1024-8500C5D @ 1066 MHz (5-5-5-15 2T)
GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB PCIe x16
Antec TruePower Trio 550 W PSU
2 x Seagate 250 GB ST3250620AS SATA II HDD's (running in IDE mode)
1 x Pioneer DVD-ROM 106
SB Live PCI card (used for the gameport only)
Anyone else experienced these cold boot problems or have any ideas?

P35-DQ6 Bios F9B (beta) Available on Gigabyte site.
Thanx,Tantawi
Tried F9B but unfortunately it made my cold boot issue worse! Got stuck in a boot loop without initializing the display and eventually after many retries/resets/CMOS clears it booted and I flashed back to F9A with Q-Flash and now I'm even affraid to turn this computer completely OFF over night in fear of it won't boot up again...
Anyone having a clue whats going on here? Greatly appreciate any input...

The only time I get cold boot reset hell on mine is when I have less than stable settings. As I understand you are on stock/auto? If so changing bios may lead to different timings (via auto settings being different). I used to get reboot hell sometimes when using auto and PC8500 1066 with 5,5,5,15 settings, if tRD (static tRead value) was auto set to 6 or 7, which is why my settings are always manual...even when I update a bios (no way am I putting load defaults with new bios as suggested with my past experience with auto settings). I have used probably every beta bios from very early on and just changed to 9b.
I have all settings manual except static t read phase adjust (because GB did not put a 0 option for manual, which seriously pisses me off as it autochanges sometimes when changing other settings...causing reboot hell, but that's another subject). In fact it autochanged to 17 from 0 when I removed my OC settings :shakes:
Pic below LEFT is very stable, safe stock settings on mine, in case you want to try manual, but cant guarantee they will work on yours. (My normal OC 24/7 settings are on RIGHT). You have to let the f**#(*$ phaseadjust do what it pleases on auto, and hope it does not screw you.
If trying settings on LEFT, I would change all at once, then save restart. If that solves your problem, and you want to run ram at 1066, then you will need to figure out which settings are causing the problem.
*if you decide to OC, I have to UP voltages first from stable settings, hit F10 save and soon as back to bios (dont have to load windows) reenter bios then increase mhz, etc. If I fail to do this, I get reboot hell everytime, almost like it reads mhz before knowing the voltage has been increased.*
Thank you for the info rge! I will try your settings and see if it changes anything...

Actually since I updated to 9B, I had my computer shut down for temp testing, and it got stuck in reboot after being off for about 30 minutes...had to remove cmos battery.
maybe something is wrong with F9betas. I would have gone back to F8, but I did not save it and not available on GB site. Back to F7 final...it works fine on mine, left off for 20 minutes...no problem with my OC settings, and I have cold rebooted from that one several times.
Yeah,I also don't know why they move F8 and F9a?
I don't suppose if anyone can find out if there are any hidden bios settings for these boards, particularly the DQ6?
I don't know a right lot about bios editing.
Hey guys, I'm looking for a little direction on my GA P35-DS3P. I'm having problems with stability, crashes, and random reboots. I'm running a E8400 (vid is 1.225) at stock clocks and can't get it to pass even 5 runs of IBT. Temps are 32 @idle and 47 under load. I've checked vcore (cpuz) and realized it was undervolting when a load was put on it. So i upped the voltage to counter act vdroop and ran IBT again. Still fails. Sometimes it will pass 4 out of 5 and other times 1 out of 5. So i kicked the voltage up a little more and still the same results. I tried then to raise the GMCH and FSB volts 1 notch and still fails. I ran memtest 86+ 2.01 and passed 3 passes at stock vdimm and clocks. What am I missing here? Any help is appreciated.
What was the reason for the removal of the F8 bios? If anyone needs it, please email me.
Still can be found here
Hello all!
Have just bought a new Q9550 (must be E0), 2x2Gb Dominator DDR2’s, for my P35-DS4 Mobo (think its Rev 1.1). However I just can’t seem to get it working properly. It boots to some random points and then freezes. Most of the time it goes to “DMI update….. Success” but some times I get to the Choose OS screen but then its freeze time. Other times it won’t even count in the Raid devices.
Have tried: Changing RAM, disconnecting discs, changing SATA ports, changing SATA cables, checking all kinds of BIOS settings, (CPU idle at 23C), updating from F13 to F14a bios which I thought would help the problem, but it’s the same sh*t all over again. Only one thing helps changing the CPU back to the old E6400 then it boots right away.
Seems like I’m running out of options here, either the F14a is a bad bios (which I have some reason to believe) or the CPU was FUBAR right out of the box. Also one small remark: I have a RAID version that’s dated 080428 or something could this have something to do with it?
Please help me out this sh*t is driving me crazy!!
Regards / M
Initial guess would be RAM timings are too aggressive.
i reflashed my DS4 to 14a couple of days ago
PC could not boot at OC that it run stable 10h everest stress test
and i experienced wierd stuf with my optical ROM-s
i used @BIOS and didnt Load Optimal Settings on first boot after flashing (as it is described in tutorial for flashing)
can i have those problems because of that?
Or F14a is buged ? Any1 tried it ?
Hello!!! Can you help me?? Please!!
I have 4x1gb A-Data Vitesta Extreme 800 + DDRII on P35-DS4 rev 2.0
If I select in bios at DDR2 Overvoltage +0.25 v, PCHealth Status, Everest, Speedfan, EasyTune and other programs say they are monitoring me to 2,01 v. should be 2,05v
DDR2 Ovevoltage +0,05 -----> Vdimm does not change
DDR2 Overvoltage +0.30 ----> 2,06v should be 2,1v
DDR2 Overvoltage +0.35 ----> 2,11v should be 2,15v
The motherboard is not supplying the correct voltage.
Now I have selected +0.35 v at bios and motherboard provided to the memory 2,11v

This is the response of gigabyte:
Dear Marcelo,
Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, due to the voltage inaccuracy of the each memory module (please kindly refer to attached picture file), sometimes there may be a difference between the option you set and the actual value displayed, but basically, if the memory can work properly with the value you set, then there should be no problem with the system/memory you have.
But, if you still worry about the memory voltage, we suggest you can contact with your supplier or nearest distributor and see if they can help you to measure the voltage directly. For distributor contact information, please click HERE.
At last, if you still have any further question or suggestion about our products/service, please do not hesitate to contact with us. We will try our best to help you resolve the problem ASAP.
Regards,
GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY
Thank you!!!!
Hi guys!
Could you tell me if there are any known issues for a Q9550 on P35-DQ6 and what BIOS should I use for this CPU? Also is it possible to hit 3200GHz (easily) with everything stock except cooling? Thank you!
What would happen if you mounted a Q9550 and used the original BIOS, F3? Would the F3 BIOS not recognize the 1/2 multiplier?
Hi, I just ordered a GA_P35C_DS3R and have read through this mammoth thread picking up some info ready for it's arrival.
One thing I found reading this thread was the usual vdroop folks mentioned, never had any DMM readings showing the actual drop. Anyone have any results?
Also nobody mentions (IIRC) how the Loadline Calibration added in Bios B10 works and if so how well it works. Again, DMM readings would be cool if anyone has them:up:
I'm going from a Asus P5K mainly for the Raid, and using a Q6600. So any heads-up on what to expect is welcome. ( just don't tell me I've made a massive mistake ordering - what a lot in this thread have called 'gigabut' :ROTF: )
Great thread:clap: - should maybe of read before buying... only time will tell :)
Thanks!
Edit: about the Loadline Calibration.. I was looking at this page.
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/...-p35c-ds3r.htm
After re-reading, I think maybe the 'nur DS4' means the DS4 has had Loadline Calibration added to bios.
Again, I turn up to the party only to find it ended weeks back hehe:rolleyes:
To do list - Must win lottery... must get to party earlier...

hey guys.. i'm sorry if this question's been asked before in the 100 odd pages here, but would a p35-ds3p rev 1.0 support wolfdales right outta the box? I've been to the gigabyte website but it doesn't seem like i'm getting the right info; someone over here at problems booting up his e8400 with the rev 1.0, so i was wondering if it works
Depend of BIOS.According to Giga official site(CPU Support List), E8400 is supported from BIOS F11.
btw,latest BIOS is F12b
Anyone tell me if this is bad voltage drop?

Thanks for the help

Just looked at the gigabyte.com.tw site and noticed the Latest BIOS is still F12b BETA for the P35 DS3P rev 1.0 board. I was hoping a lot of people would be upgrading to a Q9550 or Q9650 quad core by now, but it seems to be dead in these parts. Did people give up because there are too many problems? For people that follow gigabyte's support, will they be upgrading the BIOS, or is that the last we will hear from them?
Also noticed there are other websites for gigabyte. Is giga-byte.com a new official site?

Hi all, I got the ga-p35-dq6 a few yrs back and have never upgraded the BIOS.
I'm now wanting to do this for a number of reasons...
Is it possible to upgrade to the very latest from the very oldest using the usb-flash upgrade facility?
Or is it necessary to jump from version to version?
I would've thought the former....
Cheers
I have problems with my temps.
I own a Q9550 and a p35 ds4 rev.2.
The one core is stuck at about 18 celsious over the other one's.
Is it a problem of my bios (mobo) or of my cpu.
I have the latest bios.
Extraordinarily late reply, I know, but I'm having the same issue. I don't think it's anything to do with the fact that the board is PCI-E rev. 1.0, as my previous graphics card was PCI-E rev. 2.0 as well and that ran at x16 without an issue. If you've managed to solve it I'd love to know how! :)
