Is 407 just best for dual-cores or is it best for the 9450 too? :)
Do/should you still use Loadline calibration if you do the Vdroop mod?
Just 3 passes with a HB pencil all i need to do?
Is the 403 still the best rampage bios for quads?
I installed my mobo and it was running fine for 2 weeks.
I dialed my Q6600 to 3600 using OCCT to check for stability.
In the last two days I was running memtest to dial the RAM and today I rebooted into Windows and noticed the LAN port 1 was not showing on device manager.
LAN port 2 is working.
I checked the BIOS and both were enable. Can I call it dead and RMA the board? Could it be a BIOS problem? I updated the BIOS to the newest one, 1201, but it was working OK as I said.
Could the FSB or NB voltages fried the LAN? All voltages are in a safe zone, only the FSBT is on the "yellow" range.
Thanks in advance.
Guys, the new MAXIMUS-ASUS-Formula-1207 bios SUX. I`ve tested it. It doesn`t like my Cellshock memory.
From this time, i`ve definitely decided to make a Rampage conversion. Please, tell me, which RF bios is the best for RAM compatibility ?
Thanks in advance.
Already have flashed RF0308! The most nice for me! RF0401, RF0403, RF0407 sux like MF1201 and MF1207.
The best bios versions are MF1102 and RF0308!
0308 has been great for me.
I've got 4.3GHz (1.408v) stable now (12+ hours Small FFT and Blend) with the RAM at 1147 MHz with over 10GB Read/Write/Copy in Everest and decent latency. I'm doing a Memtest86+ today now testing how low I can get the RAM voltage.
I dont have any problems at all with 403 bios, but since you all post that 308 gives better memory speed then i ll reflash and test it. Ill post again if i get better results.
I havent had time to try mine out yet missed the post office pickup, now I wait till Monday:shakes:
Going to play with this till 9550's drop in price NCIX will price drop in a few days so by end of next week I should be able to grab one locally for around the same money.
Then my Q6700 can be sold and maybe my Maximus still thinking on that.
Yeah...the 9550 price drop will make things interesting as that brings the quad option back into the picture.
I'm just wondering how much more I could get out of an E8600 than I get right now out of the E8400 at 4.3GHz.... probably not much for 24/7.
Well, I look forward to seeing what the E8600 can do on a Maximus.
I am thinking about upgrading my 2x1Gb memory with a 2x2Gb kit. If i had to chose between these kits http://www.plaisio.gr/productlist.as...egory=69977727, which one would you recommend? If you have any personal experience with an Asus Maximus Formula with any of these kits would be even better ofc :)
maybe i missed it somewhere, but after a flash from P5E to Rampage what is the method of bios flashing to a newer Rampage bios? would asus update still work?
thanks

is what I would recommend, if $$$ is not an issue grab the Dominators you will not be disapointed.
Grnfinger do you have any personal experience with either the Mushkin or the Dominator kit? I have seen people reporting good results with either kit. But my guess is that dominators will more easily reach the 1100+Mhz speed at the rated voltage.
I can't say enough good things about the Dominators.
With lots of tweaking and a good E8400, here's what I'm getting now on 2.1v (2.02 in bios)

EDIT: And I also had those Mushkin Redlines. They were nice, but I couldn't get more than about ~1050 MHz out of them. My Dominators are at 1147 24/7 stable.
They are 100% stable at those settings I posted (12+ hours Orthos blend and 12+ hours Memtest86+) not just for benching.
I use the Dominator Airflow fan on them. It comes with the memory if you get the right kit. I actually had 8GB running stable 24/7 at 1122 MHz but I sold one kit because I needed money.
Thanx a lot zlojack for the info  4Gb of memory sounds just right for the moment. I hope i can also use the OCZ ram cooler i already have. Do you know if all the kits perform equally (not meaning 10-15Mhz +/- ofc).
I have the Dominators, there the best imo.
The OCZ ram cooler will fit on the dominators for sure.
The redlines overclock very very well but I have not used them personally.
That a stable clock NOT just a bench

Thank you too Grnfinger. As i can see 2 out of 2 kits can do 1100+Mhz. In fact both run at more than 1140Mhz :) So since they can manage the speed i need plus the fact that my cooler fits on them this kit is the one i look for. I just hope nop to be the un lucky one, which i usually am :(
let me try the RF407 for Q9450
