we never change the chips on 2GBZX
but the chips is getting weaker from the chip vender.
also it is guarantee on DDR400 2-3-2-5
the value ram for DDR400 2.5-3-3-5 is around 170~180,
if this memory can not overclock at all
DDR400 2-3-2-5 for 195 is very reasonable price :)

In theory it's wrong to complain about a product's overclockability. The If-what-you-get-does-what-it's-supposed-to,-don't-whine crap. But in PRACTICE... oh boy.

But Lestat.. it's not the manufacturer's 'fault', it's the chip vendor listening to Boyzone rather than their guts.

Been thinking the same as well....it truly sucks spending tons of $$ of supposedly prime OC products only to be disappointed again and again :(

Nanolab, have you tried BIOS 1011.01? I know it's a beta, but it's worth a try. Maybe it might work better with your board, which may be good news for me.

both kits are very nice in my opinion, depends on what you want out of them i guess.

zx gets 3-3-2 at 250 pretty easilty, where hz is more like 3-4-4... at the same time, hz will probably get more mhz in the end.

Well, last and only hope left to me was to try the sticks in my brother's rig, wich is exactly the same as mine :
A8N sli premium with an A64 3500+,
same 6800GS Pov graphic card.
Only differences are the PSU (450 W included in Antec Sonata) and the bios used : 1007).
The G.Skill kit worked perfectly... 4 passes of memtest86+ without a glitch at stock speed (2 3 2 5 1T @ 400 mhz) and no stability problems under windows.
So looks like my mobo and/or my A64 is faulty :( I tend to believe it's the A64 because that's where the memory controller is located...

So, I'll try to downgrade my bios to ver1007 without hope I should say. I can't believe that could be the solution.

Before you do that, swap out the PSU out of your Bro's rig and see if that makes a difference.

Nanolab, I'm sorry if you already stated it earlier, but what is your PSU brand and what model? Like the post just before mine, you might try PSU swap and see that it helps.

I just try to swap PSU with no success (I got an Antec Truepower 2.0 550 watts). Always freezing memtest+ and windows.
I'm convinced that it's my mobo or my A64 which is faulty.....

crap.. and i just ordered a ZX.. hopefully old stock.. :cool:

results soon - maybe pop spreaders on it..

just received a kit of ZX from newegg a week ago for a friend and as soon as he installed it in his system it was able to boot @ DDR500 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.6v on DFI ultra-D nf4

and the big BOMB is that it is stable 100% in games also

i guess he got the best kit ever

tCL 2.5 and 100% stable IS very good kit indeed. If you would look through this thread you`d notice that average OC on DDR500 has tCL 3.0 ;)

Good I bought mine ZX a while ago - DDR500@3-3-3 no problemo :D
But I use`em on stock - A64 likes low timings more than additional 50MHz with looser ones :)

Hello.. ? :rolleyes: tRP is more important, than tCL.. and having it on 3 is worse, than having tCL @ 3.. CAS, lord.. tRCD & tRP are those that effect performance the most..

Have to agree with you. After some quick tests in Sandra mem b/w tRP does proove itself as pretty important. But tCL also plays big part in b/w.

Yes, that's why i quoted the other person in the first place..

It seemed a bit odd, that he could run tCL @ 2.5 / DDR500.. For xE-6s that's pretty much uncommon indeed :)

He also had tRP @ 3, which certainly can't make it to be the best ZX kit out there.. :cool: Overall an interesting kit, wonder how much does it do with lower tRP max 3d stable..

Anyhow, going to get mine in a few days, we'll see how good they still are.. :rolleyes:

Nanolab, one more thing to try, swap out your CPU with your brother's and see if it makes any difference. It if indeed makes a difference, then you know it's your CPU's mem controller.

Got myself a 2GB Gskill ZX kit yesterday.:D

The only problem is I can't get it stable @ 2-3-2-5 @ 200MHz, first it didn't want to boot into Windows but then I played with the timings and now it is Pi-Fast stable, not much more than that though.

What kind of DRAM Drive Strength and Refresh Period(tREF) do you use for the 2x1GB ZX?
And what bios?
And the orange or yellow memory slots?

I am using my AMD Opteron 165 0536 MPMW and DFI LanParty nF4 SLI-DR Expert.

I can't get my sticks stable on cas 3 :confused:
they can do 245 @ 2.5.3.2.5 timings, but if I put in cas 3 it just simply dont get into windows :mad: but still a 245 mhz 2.5.3.2.5 overclock 100 % stable is pretty good.

Some memory doesn't like cas 3 at all when it is rated at 2/2.5. On my current 2x512MB rated at 2-3-3-6, if I put it in cas 3, my PC won't even boot at all. Had to CLEAR BIOS. I can do cas 2 and 2.5, but not 3 at all. Yours might act the same way. Your OCing isn't bad at all. If you relax the other three settings/number, you might even get it to OC higher than the 245.

There are both single stable @ 2-3-2-8 @ 200MHz, but when I put the other one in, it reboots when windows loads.:confused:

I am using a Ultra-D and the ZX 2GB Sticks. They are at 227Mhz 2.5-3-2-5 right now (2.7v). I can't complain and am totally satisified.

Very poor sticks...I got 2GBZX last Friday from www.pcmu.co.uk . Both of them are bad. Memtest96+ 1.65 gives error at default speed & settings in both single (only one stick)and dual mode. Tried also 3-3-3-5-2T at 200MHz, but still errors.Tried voltages between 2.5-2.85V. Superpi,HCI,and windows seems to stable. I can also play games and no problems. But memtest86+ gives few errors (test 3,4 and 7).
