Hmm ill see if i can find the info for your Mobo about the PCI-E lane Watts..This helps alot especially if you are Overclocking the Vid too. Also Raising the NBchipset to 1.32 will help stabilize the CPU and NB when clocked High..(This helps ram and Chipset ) This is not the NB on CPU.

On My ASUS 79-Te CORE-Pci-E volts setting to raise my NBChipset.

If i do not set CORE-PCI-e to 1.3 -1.32v i can not run High NB Above 3.4ghz.

Regardless of CPU/NBvid and CPU/NB volts.

From reading your Bios settings from DKA 790gx you dont have the PCI-E lane watts or it wasnt put in the Manual:shakes:

Also it shows a NB voltage setting ..
This i believe is your Chipset..

To find out Raise it to 1.32v and then go into AOD and see if the NB voltage reads 1.32v.. It it does your set. Then try to Oc more. Should make a diferrance . That means that NB setting is the chipset volts.

It will show ,,

CPUvid/NBvid/memoryvolts/HTvoltage/(NBvoltage -its this one)HTvoltage in performane menu.

. You should keep that @ 1.3-1.32v.. It will help.

Okay, getting forward with this, still reboots sometimes, but I think the most affecting thing was too high NB speed.

Got some wprime 3425MHz@1.51Vcore and 11.1sec, ram 1140MHz

Now trying 3300MHz and some tricks.

yes thatnks for all the help that 5th setting is called the "NB core voltage" I have it set at 1.4v and always haveit set to either 1.35 or 1.4........:shrug:

Your temps are fantatstic with the heatsink you are using, rediculously low if compared to the temps I am seeing with my IFX. At 3300mhz, 1.475 volts while priming i hitting 64C, albeit this is closed case.

But 20+ C diff in temperatures is huge.

Funny thing, although the temps being reported by HWMonitor are high, the IFX is barely warm to the touch. Also am applying more pressure then the norm via the bracket, but still my temps are in the 60's on load.

Having trouble getting a stable overclock at high HTT frequencies. The usual culprits have been taken out of the equation, i.e. low NB/HT multis used.

The ram I have runs fine at 1066mhz, so I have been using the 800mhz bootstrap @ 267mhz which puts the ram at 1066mhz. Is there a reason why this setting would not run stable at a higher HTT frequency?

Saw that gotVolatge mentioned a while back, that when the HTT frequency increases that the PCI frequency increases, however I have it set to 100 in the bios, this should surely lock the PCI bus

Will try at some time to drop the ram ratio just to see if that is the reason for the problems I am facing

My Office runs between 45f to 75f. I normally open the window and turn a fan on to draw the heat out of the room when im ocing. If your temps are crazy high try turning off CPU Tweak. That lowered my temps about 5c And i have NO idea why.. No drop in pro. Nothing was slower either. Im running a Modded Coolermaster V8 with 2 120MM Fans. One in the center and one on the outside. My GF just took the camera to mexico... so i havent been able to snap any pictures of my set up. There are older pics of my set up that i sent to coolermaster a few months back on i think... page 12ish of this thread.

Make shure all drivers are up to date,, I had problems hitting HIGH HTT/HT settings with bad drivers before for sound and or Lan and Video. Its a long shot but does happen.

Try using the lowest CPUxmulti you can boot with HT/NB @ 2000..USING High HTT

Maybe try 250x10 = 2500 with NB/HT @ 8xmulti = 2000,, Use a ram divider like 533/667 with stock timing. Slowly raise the HTT up till you cant go any more and lower the NB/HT one more step. Eventually youll reach your max.

If Ram holds you back lower it down one more setting. Usually the 533/667 is low enuff to play with.

Thats what i usually do if i know the Mobo can go over 250HTT.

You May need to start as low as 230 x 10 or 11 and work your way up. Its a pain but its also Phenom:D

Note:
a Ram Ratio of 1/2 or 3/8ths seems to work best on my system to get High HTT/HT and NB. You Achieve this by selecting a CPUxmulti that changes your ram multi when kept on the Same Ram divider. Sorta like this,, a 10x and 667 may get 3/8ths,, while 10.5x and 800 may get you 1/2 ram divisor . Some Divisors run more stable with High HT/HTT. Mine likes the 1/2's alot.

My personal best with Vista32bit and the ASUS79-T 9950@3.52ghz NB 2610 Ht 2610 Ram 1044;) Im using 1/2 ram divider is set to 800mhz with 261x 13.5cpux

Hahaaa their only Volts,, CPU @ 1.68 + ACC = 1.73v NB is @ 1.66v +ACC = 1.7v

I just dont want to push more than whats in the Bios.. I could Easily Run @ 1.8v with AOD ...I like this chip and Mobo so i dont want to torchure it too Much:ROTF: I have to tweak 45nm on it .

If I remember right, I was at 1.55vcore for 3.7G.

Although my cpu seems that it doesn't get any better above 3.720.
Unfortunately I can't validate higher even if I tried more vcore, more nb and vdd voltages..

why not give the chip a lapping?
I might try that with mine since I'm using a heat pipe direct touch cooler. I could a use a remount a some more grease too.

What possible could help the lapping?
I think that only in lower temps it can help.
But I don't know how much better it can get for wprime or other benchs, when I don't see more than 35 degrees already in full load..

by the way nice temps and chip that one is insane.

Well managed to get the WC setup and only had time for a quick play, here is what water gave me. Loop consists of a Swiftech Laing MCP655, DTek fusion V2 with quad core mid chamber, Danger Den chipset cooler on the nthbrdge, and a Thermochill TA120.3 rad and 1 x 120mm delta in a pull config.

Try it first,, if you hit a limit at max clocks around 3.5ghz + = 300watts plus then the vid card/cards and pump and fans and so forth.

If it works nice,, if not hellow Tagan:D

Use the largest nozzel or No Nozzel. D-Tek V2 and V1

The reason is that the Quad nozzel will spray water presshure on Sides or lower half of CPU only. Quad nozzel ,Its designed for Intel which is split flow/split core and its Cores are low NOt in CENTER LIKE AMD.

You NEED water to hit in the CENTER of CPU with out a split nozzel to get the BEST temps for Phenom. Matter of fact i even drilled out the four corner holes to 3/8th whith alows unrestricted flow to the outlet:D

I like to tweak things can ya tell. You can even drill the inlet hole of the 655 to 1/2" for more inflow if you like. This helps with water flow and volume.

Thanks for the info on nozzle, I decided to use the quad nozzle after looking at pictures of the Phenom die, didnt realise that the Intel cpus are much lower on the die than the Phenom cpus.

WITHOUT A NOZZLE :eek: this actually works, the only thing directing the water will be the pressure pushing it. I imagine this works great with high flow/pressure pumps. The MCP655 is good for this in max rpm mode, but not when using in low rpm mode.

Will give this a try.

Do you use a backing plate with your block?

Am very happy that I should be seeing better temps, was quite dissapointed with the temps I was seeing yesterday, only a 10C difference to the IFX-14, but this 10C made huge difference on OC, looks like me Phenom is a hot running one but it looks like if you can cool it will pump out the clocks!

Ive noticed soom peeps Phenoms run REALLY cool, the differences are really big......

it depends on the chip, all chips don't overclock the same and some overclock better than others. what voltage are you currently running at because .752 has to be a bug. also try going for 5-5-5-15 on your ram.

If you are thinking of upgrading to a better VGA than maybe you will have problems with the 550watt.Especially if you will OC the VGA too.

Hi there,

thanks for your reply.
The voltage is set to 'normal' which is 1.300 V and when I tried to set my ram to 5-5-5-15 the system wouldn't start. Bios was asking me to re-seat memory and go back to 'last good' configuration which I did.
I've changed the voltage to 1.500 V, multiplier to x14 and fsb to 218 which makes 3066MHz but obviously the temperature went dramatically up.
