I have my black and red sleeving (with matching shrink)from kirk at murdermod I have an extra 24 pin atx modular cable courtesy of ultra power supply's I have psu modding toolkit from sunbeamtech also I proper crimping tool if needed. My question now is about keeping the proper order of the wire to the connectors.
I am going to be shortening the cable to fit my setup and it will require me to remove a good 6 inch chunk of length out of the cable . What's the best way to keep the cables in the proper order while doing them all at the same time? I f i do it one wire at a time it will not come out even. Any ideas on how I can make it a perfect job and wire it back together properly?

Thought I might add in a little tutorial on how to do the 6-8pin plugs which come with some power supplies like the Corsair.
These are the tools that you'll need, as well as a ruler, and a heat gun and of course the sleeving (Thanks to Nils at MDPC for this sleeving, beautiful stuff that it is!).

Make a slit all along one side of the heatshrink which is covering the ring on the cables. Then blast the you know what out of it with the heat gun. And it'll end up like this:

It will look like this after you tear all the heatshrink off it. Covered in disgusting gluey stuff, but it's ok, you can scrape it all off easily enough.

Because I didn't need the +2 part of the 6 to 8 pin cable, I just removed it.

Then I basically removed one wire at a time, which took it out from the little ring. This is probably the easiest way, saves you having to cut that ring (god knows what it is made out of, I tried to go at it with the dremel but it took too long)!

Train the cables after to make gentle bends, as they sometimes get kinks in them from being all tied up in the box.

Is it possible to get some 8pin blocks for the PSU and 6pin blocks for the GPU and make a custom cable, and still have the possibility to do a RMA?

I'm gonna redo all the sleeving I've done so far, which thankfully isn't too much. ;)
I can not get 1/8" tubeshrink to go over 1/8" sleeving to save my life. What am i doing wrong? I tried heating the ends of the sleeve so stray fibers aren't hanging everywhere, but then it's impossible to get back over the cable without straying the threads again.
I usually ended up lightly melting the ends so that they started to group together, then carefully slid the heatshrink over one end, then the other, took some patience, but

We use it at work but cpc are one of our preferred suppliers :) I can send a small piece to anyone who wants to do a side by side. The worst one I've had was the Ryan kits. What's the difference between Polyester/Terephthalate and plain polyester?

Having your cables showing isnt a big thing if your using an Ultra X3 lined PSU. The cables are black so its perfect for the PPCs Techflex PET sleeving. I am using it now but the 1/8" Heatshrink for 1/8" sleeving is a pain, Decided to go the next size up for heatshrink.
