you have to have direct or near direct fan contact with a NB chipset to cool it.
i mean im not trying to stop you, you can find out yourself.
maybe yours stays cool but they didnt use copper for this northbridge heatsink, so..
anyways.. do what you want but if you aint gunna spend 5 bucks or less ofr a little fan then your cheaper then i am.,. and man im a cheap!
lol heheh ok each to his own........i'll do some testing and measure exact temps before and after........lol at suggesting it's about the money.hehQuote:

by doing ctrl + f1 i thought u can assign IRQ via BIOS??
BTW, is it just me, or does easy tune crash your system? Mine crashes and reboots if i try to run it :stick:
Am on F3 BIOS now and am running some benchmarks.
No problem for me , easytune works well , waiting for yours 6300 results :)
I hope that you and BWR are kidding. I heard vicious rumours back in Australia that American's are ignoramus's but I would expect better from xtreme members.Quote:

dont use easytune though its worse than AI Booster from Asus. which actually is good, but easy tune is poop.
Hmm, ive just come back from holiday and am quite uneasy about motherboard choices. I fancy trying a gigabyte, i was going to go for the 965P-DQ6 but im not totally convinced now.
I want to overclock quite far on water with an e6600 and i only need one graphics card. If i buy one now the price difference is minimal (id have to buy a new cooler for the ds3 northbridge anyway). So, assuming price makes no difference, would you go for the DS3, DS4 or DQ6?
Im assuming and hoping that new bioses will show leaps and bounds in all these boards.
What software do you use to monitor temps from windows?
And also, i can't prime at 420 x 6 :stick:
Did you guys change the MCH voltage at all, or leave it at stock? If i leave it at stock, the whole system crashes after ~15 secs of dual prime :stick:
No, if you scrolled down, you would find out that most of Taiwan speaks Taiwanese.Quote:

This is all assuming that coolaler is from Taiwan of course.
eh damn. there's no divider option for my ram to make it stay @ 800 when i oc my e6300 above 400.. is that mean i stucked @ 400fsb?
anway my board is DS4. and proc is e6300 b2. :(
B2? Isnt that stepping 6... You know, the RETAIL stepping?Quote:

yes to take E6300, 6400 high u need good RAM, u cant go less than 1:1 fsb : dram ratio
owh, thx theteamaqua..
anyway, can u share ur setting for M.I.T page (after ctrl F1)? this is the 1st time i'm using intel in 3 years and the first time i'm using ddr2 and the 1st time i'm using gigabyte.
i tried seach at google but it's too new and it's hard to find one.
i wish i could know which voltage should i increase when to make my oc stable.
tq!~
what's the highest gone with an E6300 prime stable?
and whats a safe vCore on air? I can't pass prime at 450 x 7 w/1.32v :(
i think vcore , vmch (or GMCH in BIOS thats waht its called) maybe vcore to 1.4v, 1.5v , and vmch to +0.2v. i heard vFSB doesnt relaly help, also set PCI-E clock to 101 for soem reason
and for memory timing (the hidden stting after ctrl + f1 ) well dont set it too lower or it fails. just set to stock , when i leave this at auto, i get 5-7-7-23!!! this 8000UL can do 5-4-4-9 @ 1GHz wuth 2.2v... its memory controller is messed up for DDR2 PC8000 or above, but u can always set it ur self.
As for vdimm, i have tried to give my 8000UL 2.2v and DDR18 fails !!! wtf, it needs +0.4v or 2.2v vdimm (corsair 8000UL needs 2.2v to operate at 1000MHz according to Corsair website)
for pentium d 920 i need vcore 1.5875v and +0.2v mch or else it wont boot to achieve 4GHz. i tried vcore 1.5875 and vmch +0.v it wont boot a 4GHz
also have people experience failure to boot after u turn off the PSU???
i mean i can power on the PSU and computer with stok clock settings, and then overclock and reboot it works fine. No matter how many tiems i reboot can always boot with overclocked settings, but after shutting off PSU. It just wont boot when i tried to turn it on ....
the key is that i can reboot with no problem with overclocked settings, but after PSU is shut off , i cant turn on the computer with overclocked setting no matter how low i go
I think i need better cooling ;)
444 x 7 is fine with 1.29v
Stock cooling sux :(
