im surprised to see someone using bluetooth on a PC outside of a Cellphone adapter.
bluetooth desktop mice and kb's died long ago,(sorry to say that but bluetooth is a niche market) i would consider moving on to a standard wireless mouse and keyboard.
i actually sell a logitech MX600 Laser Mouse with USB dongle. havent tried it at home but it works fine here in the office.

Only have stock cooling at the moment will try higher when get new HSF

go into the bios, right on the main bios screen and hit ctrl+F1 and then goto the overclocking menu and you will see some new things.
but 5-7-7 thats why your able to run 1000mhz ram
lower it to 5-5-5 and it wont work anymore. thus the D9 issues that gigabyte is working on.
my DQ6 won't do 500mhz FSB unfortunately :(...
Is 1.0 the current revision still for the DS3? Or at least in the US..hehe

Go to the bottom of that page and click on the list box. Scroll through and locate the desired bios. Click on it and download it.
yeah F8g
but its not a final its still only the beta and it doesnt work on D9 very well. from my testing.
Apologies. Forgot the bios numbers are out of sync for these boards.
This is getting to be a real joke now.Quote:

dude it has NOTHING to do with bluetooth. This set works fine in everything except gigabyte 965P mobos. When i overclock with DS4 I can't boot even with using ANOTHER usb k/b mouse, even when i connect an external USB hard disk. If i overclock even 1 Mhz, i cant connect ANY USB device when im booting. When I'm pas the memory check i can connect any usb device i want . Do a search on the forums, there are plenty of ppl having problem with connected usb devices upon booting with these mobos. It's a problem of the mobo PERIOD. jeez. just happens to some ppl and not the other but the issue EXISTS and i want to see Gigabyte doing something about this simple "feature" before we hit F20 BIOSQuote:

you guys try the F8g and see what it does. try different memory dividers too.
i never saw any gain in memory mhz,, but maybe you will and the only one that worked 1.2 way decent was the +3.33 divider which absolutely destroys any overclock.. you cant get the FSB up high enough.
but those of you who can do 500 x7 see what you can do.
i cant.. for whatever reason my ram is puking out no matter what i do.
Lestat - if you have that F8G BIOS for DS3 please share it, send it to my mail kashelz@inbox.lv , I will test it on my S3 :D I cant find where to download it on that site - its not there, so thats why I am asking.

Flashed to F7, bios dated November 8th 2006...but guess what?...NOTHING has changed.
No new options in bios, and STILL they have not updated the bios ROM's for the JMicron or Intel controllers.
It's the same old same from Gigabyte, same crap just another week. Still cannot boot past 450FSB.
Tried 450x7= no boot, constant reboot/restart...only way to fix is to take out the CMOS battery, so much for D9 and booting past 450FSB.
What pisses me off the most is this bios has been a month in the making, yet GB refuse to update the JMicron and Intel controllers....HELLO!, we've moved on now TWICE.
Latest bios ROM for the Intel RAID controller is 6.2.0.2002 and NOT the first buggy release that GB have included.
Are they afraid we'll lose our RAID arrays?.....SO WHAT???!!, jeez...it's not rocket science if the new bios ROM requires that you do a fresh install, BIG DEAL!
I can do a fresh install in my sleep...just update the damn thing!
That is kinda unreasonable just so you can overlock more. Bios released are geared more towards actual functionality of the board for a normal user. ;)
richard will the new bios improve boot times and hd detection? Cause at the moment its slow as hell.

Both DS4 and DQ6 are both identical except for the e-sata thing, thAt's why they can share the bios but not a DS3. Someone (from other forum) flash the DS3 with a DS4 bios and it's dead lol. Btw even the DS4 F7 betas bios is not downloadable from JZelectronic. I just got it from other forums.Quote:

I'm gonna try out a new lower Vcore, 1.3750V...see if it'll take to 3.4Ghz.
I bet some crazy guy will write a force script to do that... but DS4 & DS3 are totally different as you can see from the PCB board layout+components so why force it to accept other bios unless parts are identical (DQ6) then it shouldn't be a problem.Quote:

08.11.06
GA-965P-DQ6 - BIOS Version F7
1. Update CPU ID
2. Fix QST Steuerung SYS_FAN und CPU_FAN
3. Fix PWM CPU_FAN
4. Update JMicron Rom
5. Fix Micron D9
I hadn't bothered trying it out because originally it didn't mention anything about 'D9 fixes' and I didn't want to take the risk of messing around while I had work to do and nothing to gain. I should get a 'work-free' opportunity today to update the BIOS and try extending my overclock. I settled at 433 before because it was a happy medium for cVore/Temps.
Well the F7 DQ6 bios did improve my OC just a tiny bit... can now do 450*7 (before was 440*7) Sadly my CPU wont do 3200+MHz stable under any circumstances.
Got my parts today, install went fine and dandy of DS3. I prob won't get to overclock it till this weekend though. But still get a 4.9 score vs my old 3.2 in Vista :D
edit: Where can I download the windows bios flash utility? I can't run it from CD that came with mobo cause vista problem with the setup.exe they use. hehe
Where I can find and download Windows Vista SIV tool?Quote:

One thing that annoys me about board is not enough fan headers on it. My "old" Enermax whisper PS has a 3pin header vs 4 pin on board. Im going to have to get a converter to use PS fan. Going to run with case door off till I get more than just CPU/GPU fan on it. :P
Do you guys just leave the CPU fan running full speed in bios, that overclock? Im assuming you do..
Well, I'm trying F7 (DQ6/E6400) and basically failed between 450-500FSB 1:1 8x. Tried RAM at 44412 to 66620, vCore 1.45v-1.55v, vDimm +0.2-0.4. PCI-freq Auto and 100-110.
[edit: mch/fsb tried auto, +0.1 - +0.25v. Also, dual primed using sml/lge ffts (as I usually do)]
Between 460 and 490 I could get to Windows but it'd reboot while loading desktop.
I'm pretty sure I managed to run Dual Prime for a minute or so before it rebooted at 475.
450 was alright for an hour or so dual folding but after about 8mins dual prime (not folding)--auto reboot!
I'm now 15+mins in to dual prime at following [EDIT: Rebooted after 35mins. Windows reported a video driver error. Previously it reported RAM errors.]:
8 x 445 (3550GHz)
4 4 4 12
PCI freq. 100 (iirc, otherwise auto)
vCore 1.45v
vDimm +0.2v (seems better lower I feel)
iirc, everything else normal/auto.
Specs. as per sig. 'Main'
You can connect a 3-pin to the 4-pin motherboard connector. Look in the manual page 20. Notice the key for the pins 1-3. Pin 4 is for speed control. You're correct in that there's only two connectors.Quote:

MBM doesn't work with these boards, unless they put an update out in the last couple of months but I don't think anyone is developing for MBM anymore.
I use Everest instead now. It has heaps more info and also has a configurable OSD (http://www.lavalys.com/)
It rebooted after 35mins 8 x 445 44412 1.45v. Windows reported a video driver error. Previously it has reported RAM errors at 450+.
Tried 440 with vDimm +0.3. Dual prime failed lge fft instance after 5mins.
[edit: I restarted the lge fft instance of dual prime, it has exceeded its last failure point. If it fails again, I'll try folding for a while and see how it goes (less demanding)]
fyi, temps hit 58c @21c ambient during dual prime @1.45v (1.392-1.41v), so I am not keen to raise voltage anymore as this machine folds 24/7 (temps usually around >5c less than dual-prime, iirc).
"We're probably sounding like a broken record by now, but we wish Gigabyte would solve the Micron D9 issue before the next decade is upon us. We do not have this issue with any of the other manufacturers. Considering their recent partnership with ASUS we think it could be solved quickly with a phone call or maybe a visit. Even without the Micron D9 fix, a budget board that overclocks to the 450 FSB range is still impressive, but we know it has the capability to do more."

WOOT!
leave it up to gary,,,
too bad i dont think it will ever work. ever.....
i truly believe and this is just my own point of view.
that gigabyte, biostar (cuz it hates D9 ram also, the 965PT) and possibly MSI are using Failed 965P NB chipsets.
what i mean is, they can not pass the standards laid down for the 965P high end boards so they are stuck in lower end boards at a cheaper price.
never before have i seen the same chipset used in so many boards and yet only certain models of that chipset are failing.
i know its a longshot but i really believe gigabyte is using failed chipsets,, and pawning them off.
also the fact that there is up to 0.10v droop on the DS when you surpass 1.5v vcore is retarded and unacceptable.
thank god for eVGA,, cough i mean foxconn i mean eVGA cuz i just purchased a 680i earlier today! woot!
Im selling this board to get Abit IN9.. no more Gigabyte for me
Yeah, the 680i is looking pretty sweet. I hope Gigabyte fixes the D9 issues soon or i may have to spend an extra $100..
I manually stopped dual prime after about 3hrs.Quote:

Against my better judgement after the last round of emails from certain members around here (I do have thick skin ;) but when it gets personal then it has gone too far) I will detail out the issue with the DS3 and S3 in properly overclocking Micron D9 tomorrow. After two days of marathon testing with Gigabyte we have found the root cause of the issue and the major reason why the last few beta spins have not worked properly with all D9 modules. Of course a few choice statements today helped move things along. ;)
Got the Asus P5B Deluxe today.
It rocks vs. DS3.
Booting at 520FSB. No problems with my memory either.
Have a "nice" time with your DS3´s. Im out of here.:)
Does anyone else have an X-Fi (non xram) and play BF 2142? I'm having crackling with orbital strike on servers of 45+ and believe it to be either MB or Sound Card related. I tried a swap with xram variant, but only tested lan mp and didn't hear it. It's gotta be related to # of sounds in game as a 45+ will obviously be crazier than a 1 man lan. PCI lat doesn't help at all, 64, 128, 256...all crackle.
I notice this board likes to ride everything on 2 or 3 irq's and am beggining to wonder if that could actually be an issue. The Tuniq will be here tomorrow and I've got another xram to test. If it still goes nuts, I may go Asus 965/975...or the foxconn clone @ fry's...680i anyone?!
With that being said, is it an issue that can be fixed or are we SOL unless we make certain tweaks what will gain us some but not to the real potential? Or is what Lestat says true that we are the victims of the not so good chipsets and the real OCer chipsets went to the high end boards?Quote:

Just go back and read every post he has made on this forum and you will realize he never really delivers anything. He only posts information that is already public knowledge elsewhere and if you think what anyone says here will affect Gigabyte releasing or not releasing a bios update, you need to get a life.Quote:

As for crackling adjust PCI latency in bios, x-fi is very sensitive to that settings. If that does not work turn off all "turbo" modes on ram if you have it on.
Interesting theory about Gigabyte using failed chipsets, but does the DQ6 suffer the same D9 problem? I'm asking because I doubt Gigabyte would put the same lower binned chipset in their flagship.Quote:
