Hey all, I've run into some {read, a :banana::banana::banana:load} of problems with my Banias 1.5G and P4C800E-DLX.
Alright, first off, here is my system specs
ASUS P4C800-E DLX w/ CT479
Banias 1.5G SL6F9
2x512M Samsung TCC4
9800Pro
I originally flashed the bios on the board to the latest P4C one so it would recognise the Banias. But it wouldn't let me adjust vCore. And it was set to something like 1.1v and wouldn't boot into Windows so I had to reduce the multi to 6 which booted it at 600Mhz. Funnily enough, it felt only a bit slower that my 1.8A @ 2.3G. I then tried a number of bios's including the P4P ones. The last one I tried was the 1007.001 for the P4P800 which has now :banana::banana::banana:ed my BIOS and it won't boot. But I can easily get that reflashed. I did do the /n /pnbc command when I flashed as well.
What BIOS do I need to flash with to get the voltages happening ?
Ryan
i am using 1008, you can adjust the vcore, but not the multi.
edit: p4p bios
1023 bios
Link ? And is it a P4P or a P4C BIOS ?
Just need to know so I don't :banana::banana::banana: up the bootblock :)
Ryan
i used a beta version bios in my pep800se,verything is ajustable...
any idea about making a silent ,Hi-speed PM (@3G above)machine?
watercooled 780..though some 780s need more than just a water for 3g 24/7.. mine don't.Quote:

HI wwwww
i added both my m730 cpu's
first one maxed at 2750 on air with an xp90
current one has maxed at 2670 with a akasa evo 120.
one think i think you should add is fpo/batch country so we can which ones to look out for.
hi guys!
i cant choose between the two asus pci-e mobos (p4gx&p4gd1)
what to choose for a better oc?
both are avaliable here +)

people around that would like to have one..
Does the pin mod for the vCore work on Banias chips ?
Ryan
Bios question for P4C800 Del (non -E).
I have heared that bios for -E version will work for non -E version so can anybody tell me what is better, 1021.005 beta for non -E or can I just use 1024.001 beta for -E version?
I believe so, but rmeember the stock vcore is 1.484V, so the pins would change, refer to the intel pin data sheet and vid data sheet.Quote:

I now use 1021D.004 which is very good but no multipliers, there is a 1021.005 for the P4C800 Deluxe too with mulipliers but they didn't work on my system(i can choose different multipliers but if i save it it's still at 13) but someone here had more more luck,he can choose different multipliers and save them.
i don't care about the LAN, i ll give a try to 1024.001 bios.

Hi I have 730 on ASUS P4GPL-X
with CM Hyper6 +92mm
Stable 2800mhz 2830 benchable @ 1.65V
I have a question about Vdrop mod on that board, found no info ,about that nowhere:(
Here SuperPI now with crappy ram ,I go with better and post new scores. But please help me with Vdrop mod I'm unstable and it's very bad 0.05v under load

With TCCD I go down with more than 1 sec @ 1:1 2.5-3-3-x I do it soon :p:
Will these mods work on a Banias chip ?Quote:

And is there someone ,who can help with Vdrop mod?
I just checked your attached images.. no sign of FSB283 there.. so that's why I thought it was somewhat suspect.. :)Quote:

Nice clockings.. and a good 730 you've got there.. I'm just envious I guess.. :(
I updated ram 3-4-4-8 287mhz ,still no TCCDs .I improve even more.this 730 is crazy proc

But still need Vdrop mod ,so badly :p:
DStealth,Thats one nice 730. My TCC5 at 6-3-3-2 is faster than any memory I have at any setting, Even my hynix el4200 that will run 280fsb at 7-4-4-2.5.
4x512 6-3-3-2 25.6s superpi http://community.webshots.com/photo/...87052438KZofSM
Even 5-2-2-2 pat turbo at 212 will not give me the same number.
You are joking right?.....2880MHz @ 25.6 sec!..... :)Quote:

I have a strange problem, i can' get rams to work over 223fsb, tried all sorts of ram. I have tried with my adapter, proc and rams (some TCCD) on my friends board and they did 285 easyly, probaly more, but there was limit by cpu. Then I tried on my board (P4C800-E del, same bios settings) and they didn't even want to boot at 200, booting at 166, and then upping by clockgen, i got to 210.
I tried all sorts of things, tried 4 different boards, 2 P4C800-E del and 2 P4C800 del, different bioses, changed PSU, changed adapter, changed GPU.....
Does anybody have any idea what is the problem. The only thing different was the mobo, and I treid 4 different ones and couldn't get it working. The only other thing, he has Ati GPU, i haven't tried with that, cause kinda sux, no AGP/PCI lock at booting 200.
I got the BIOS reflashed with the 1024.001 BIOS. It still wants to give me ~1.1vCore. Can't change the settings in BIOS. I tried the easy vmod trick to give ~1.55 but that has failed as well.

What BIOS should I be using ? And could someone link me ?

This was an old bench(7-2005)..........I have other ones BUT at about 3000MHz+ OR lower at 2500 - 2600 MHz with the modded Super-Pi 1.4....... :)Quote:

f im looking at yout screeneshot i see that you have agp/pci not locked. Did you set to 72/36 in bios.?Quote:

if i set it to any value, even 66/33 doesn't help.
Flashed to 1022.003 and still no vCore change avaliable and still defaulting to ~1.1v in BIOS.
I'm starting to wonder if my Banias chip or the CT479 is borked ?
Will try some other mods later on. But atm, it's running at 600Mhz {6*100} with no problems.
Ryan
does anyone know what rail the ct479 draws its power from ? +5v or +12v ?
Hi,
I just post a screen for a friend, F@NOo on HFR ;)
P4C800e-dlx VAGP 1.8V
PM 740 watercooled @1.6V
X800XT@620/600
2x512 Adata BH5 w310
DDR Booster
Hiper type R480
http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/1427/fnoo7xu.th.jpg
It draws most of it's power via 12Volts.....and stabilizes it at 3.3Volts ....Quote:

i made it to get 2800 mhz primestable with 1.52-1.56v, but i cant even run pi 1mb @2830mhz, it just freezes. i talked to some other dothan OCers, they always get reboots or errors in pi/prime if CPU isnt stable. my dothan only has to options : stable or not. if 1mb pi is stable, prime will be, too. i just dunno whats up with this cpu . 2700mhz are prime stable with 1.43v.... ://
well it's well known that water doesnt make much diff on dothan since its only 27w..Quote:

ociFalcon, your cpu seems a lot like my old one :). 2730stable at low voltages but 2800 and up arent.
these chips all seem to have a narrow range of semi-stability and abruptly seem to change from stable to not even posting.
I am stuck at 2568 with my OEM 730. By lowering the multi, I can get my memory to work at FSB speeds in excess of 275MHz so I know that is not the problem. I have tried my P4C800ed and my P4P800ed so thats not the issue. My Dothan just hit a wall at 214x12. Perfectly stable at 214 but wont post at 215 no matter what voltage I give it. Well all of this is nothing new and has been well documented thus far.
My question is this, should I try for a new processor or is 2568MHz an average clock. Looking at wwwww's database, I seem to be on the low end.
So if I do buy a new CPU, should I go for the 740 or 730? They both seem to be about $200. My inital instinct is to go for the 740 but wwwww's database seems to show them clocking lower than the 730's. My P4C800 allows you to change the multi in the BIOS so booting at >200 shouldn't be an issue. What do you guys think?
I have posted about this before, but it won't hurt to repeat..
It seems that many new "Dothan-fans" experience the same disappointing results..
I tried with a 740M which did no better than my 730M..
But are stable at 213x12.. or any other combo (FSBxMP) below 2600Mhz.
1 - one - Hz (FSB) over that and it shuts down during benchmarks.
Many of us seem to take the happy users posting about 2800++ Mhz Dothan ("on stock air!") as the norm..
Also check "Lithan's" many frustrated posts.. and log of fairly expencive purchases (CPU's) in his "quest" for a high clocking Dothan.. :)
I "gave up" after to tries.. but I'm still more than satisfied with the performance of my DOthan's..
TL1000S, that's why i buy my cpus used hehe :P
I had a similar problem -- Check your power connectors. My CT-479 had a lose power connection cable and it pushed in one of the four contacts of the connector going to the power supply, so only 3 of the 4 wires were making contact.Quote:
