I like ATI IQ personally, but I never let my personal preferences affect my recomendations whenever possible.

I remember when i first heard r520 was going to be 90nm and i thought that might end up making it cheaper... sigh. I don't want to get an x1800xl if it's not going to clock: where's the *reference to electronic anatomy removed due to request from Perkam* to be had from that? But on the otherhand i'm sure the x1800xt prices will make me want to puke for months after they come out. especially in canada.
What makes you think its not going to clock ?Quote:
x1800xl if it's not going to clock
Most of them are coming standard with 1.4ns ram (capable of 700Mhz). Just because its clocked at 500/1000 doenst mean its not going to oc...actually its one hell of a overclocker once they release the new oc utility ATI's been hiding ;)

You haven't heard? ATI's first batch of R520, the ones that failed making it to the desired clockspeeds, were used for the XL boards. That's why most won't clock decently, compared to the second batch XTs.
lol cybercat...you have to keep up :p:

Yes, that's an XL at 700/1400 from 500/1000. Most all have the same 1.4ns memory, so expect 700Mhz to be reached quite easily with better air cooling (ati silencer for x1800).
Right now all oc results will be limited though since the above score was achieved with an oc utility that's still under wraps by ATI.

Why is it at 700MHz only scoring what the XT gets at stock?
89xx is what most reviews showed what the XT gets at stock. ATI's slides showing 9100 at stock with an XT are most likely done with an fx-57 or something.Quote:

Lower mem speed I reckon...it does get about 100 points more than the XT, too.
That pic shows an FX-57.Quote:

Actually, in 05, memory speed is all that matters ;) Think 01 and cpu speed in terms of dependency. Its the only way an X1600XT, a $199 card, can get 5.3k stock in 05 and still lose to a stock 6600GT in some games...memory speed :)Quote:

Its cpu speed that makes the littlest of differences for 05. But still, ~9.2k in 05 on air for 24/7 use is not bad...not to mention it surpasses the gtx with those clocks (gtx is ~8.6k ;) )
