Does running your graphics card in SLI configuration reduces the processsor's max overclock? Earlier this week when I was using only one 6800Ultra I can prime for over 4 hours at 2.84Ghz but when I tried priming again today with two cards prime failed after about 40 minutes......
All I can say (after not having run SLI) is that I have heard people mentioning that it does effect things.Quote:

Cool, but you either have some memory timing "issues" or I'm not the only one seeing abnormally lower bandwidth numbers out of this thing. Friend of mine said he had been barely cracking 8k at 300x9 with his winny...and I'm a good 200-300 MB/s off from that mark still...i dunno.Quote:

I'm still determined to figure out what exactly it is. I had heard some people saying that the memory controller was "laxed" on the Venice to make it more capable, which in turn (could have) resulted in a drop in bandwidth of 200-300MB/s...but I'm not sure if I buy that yet, cus I've seen people run tests comparing the two cores at the same clocks...hitting the same scores.Quote:

above is all 1T but weird with 2T i can run cpu benchable with much lower vcore!
Kinda what I've seen...if someone is fighting with their ondie controller, they might end up feeding the CPU more voltage to get it to comply. Running your ram at 2t might be (in turn) easing up on your mem controller enough to warrant a lower vcore...tough to say, but that's my guess.Quote:

I second that.....say, have you tried running at something like 325x8 to see if your ram will do 1:1 at those speeds...or is it just the controller holding you back from 322 1:1 for that 2,898MHz? Just wondering, cus I can do 1M (at the very least) at up to about 335x8 1:1, and I'm looking forward to getting some cooling in place to see if I can match those memory clocks with a 2.9 - 3GHz core clock.Quote:

my Gskill PC4400LE only do 290-296mhz 2.5-3-3-7 and 294-296mhz 2.5-4-3-7 1T on these venices on clawhammer cpu the same ram does 305mhz 2.5-4-3-7 heh

as said before i must admit it´s most about luck more than on stepping IMHO. I´ve never heard about my stepping before i got it. Only that 0516 should be poor oc´er - well mines definately not one of those;-)
So just go for it - otherwise you can just return it to the shop or sell it again for almost new price on-line
Sorry to say but I've had two 0518s and two 0516s and neither of the 18s could hang with the 16s, not even close. Both 16s could prime at/or over 2.7GHz but couldn't get the 18s to prime over 2.5GHz with teh same voltage.Quote:
