Trance, no offense m8, but you should try a proper track against a good driver and a decent 250HP track car(you might try the older Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione or the Alfa 155 GTA). Mustangs need ... well ... a complete redesign to be able to properly compete on track. The only properly built Ford than can do track is the Ford GT.
The 70k Corvette you are reffering to can only be the Z06, the only track capable Chevy ever to be built on earth ;) But even the mighty Vette Z06 can't compete with the F430 on track. And, amazingly, the F430 only has 490HP compared to the 506HP of the Z06 ;)
There's another 480HP car that can take the Z06 on track, the 997 Porsche 911 Turbo. It actually beats the Z06 in drag(1/4 mile or 400m), on track, and on any other surface/race you want. Plus, it's only ~140k, twice as much as the Vette, but for good reason, and I am not talking just performance figures here.
Street racing and dragging is for boy racers, in my opinion, so I won't get into this.
Anyway, each to his own, the discussion is offtopic and I would rather not spoil the topic. We can argue on PM or IM if you like :)

When it comes down to ferraris there is nothing else like them. Just the sound alone is music. Its not down to value for money with exotica its about Class. You either have it or you dont.....I dont....haha
Here's a game you can play,, a little out of date, but interesting...

Sorry for the OT... maybe a mod could separate the OT posts for us?
You know, it's really funny... but I've begun to realize that car's simply aren't just about speed, going fast, and handling.
In the past 3 years, I've been all-out for the Evo. Its been my all time favorite car, I love the way it handles, how fast it is, the precision of japanese engineering. The exterior is nice too IMO (though I know a lot of people that hate it). Once every 3 months, I go to the local Mitsubishi dealer to admire it. Yesterday was one of my days at the dealer... and I've realized, that having a fast car is not everything...
Let me just give you a little info on my background... I was a firm believer in performance over looks. I've liked American cars, too... like the Mustang or Dodge... yes, they do have a lot of horses... but there are only 2 race-ready American cars that I can think of - the Corvette and the Ford GT. When someone says - "American cars are designed better than anything else out there... they are made super wide, so you can fit large tires, blah blah, blah", I cannot accept such a statement. Yes, for drag racing sure... but only the two above mentioned cars can corner well... American cars were designed for America... where highways are long stretches of straight road, and the only curve you'll come to is into your driveway. A Mitsubishi will make toast of any -Mustang, Shelby, you name it American car- on a track... on a track, you don't need horses to go fast... if you have a 200kg car, with a 100hp engine, you can go faster than someone who is hauling a ton with a 500 hp engine.
Also, a lot depends on the driver...
But back to my original feelings... so I sat in the Mitsubishi for a while yesterday... and I had a feel of the components, such as the air con, radio, etc... and it just doesn't feel right... yes, turn the key, and you forget about it all, but when I sit down in a car, I want to experience the excellence right from that moment...
So, I also visited Audi and Porsche. Yes, their car's arent as good handling and drive wise as Mitsubishi... but when you sit down in them, you feel something special... something, I can't describe... for example, I was looking at the Audi TT... yes, it weighs a lot, and won't go anywhere near as fast as the Mitsubishi... but you sit low in it, you can see that someone has taken time to design the car... everything is driver oriented... the same with the Porsche...
So, my conclusion? There is a reason why a Porsche that drives just like a Mitsubishi costs 3x the price - it is the inside, the feeling you get from the car when sitting in it... So, now I'm back to German cars... they're not only about how fast you can go... but also what you feel when you get in the car, turn on the engine, and set off...
Evo? that car is sweet. I like the honda s2000/nsx exterior the most though. But RX7 and Supra are the best lol. WRX sti is pretty leet too.Quote:

The longest road in the UK is the A1, at 409 miles (658KM), so sure there are a lot of twisty roads in the UK, but over here things were pretty much paved out in straight lines without too much thought on how fun they'd be to drive. ;) I, myself, grew up without too many highways around, so I got used to twisty and hilly back roads, and wouldn't have things any other way. :)Quote:

After being in those cars personally (including 06 GTO and 06 C6 Z06), at the end he would go get back in the GTO.Quote:

My next stop then is the Chevy dealership... honestly, I've never been inside, so I'm anxious to know what its like...
Anyhow, I checked out the BMW 3 Series coupe yesterday... a decent price with great performance...
I was going to get a RAV4, but the engine was ridiculously loud, so I went with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Pretty good car, rank 1 of MPG @ 268HP. I say Toyota have out-done themselves. Only bad thing about the car is optional accessories for the interior. I want a MP3 player-jack. CDs are outdated for me.

when you get in the vette, you will think your sitting on the ground, lol.Quote:

It was pretty sleek but overall the GTO interior was far more comfortable for a daily driver type of car, far ahead of my Trans Am (which I still love though).
However the C6 has a more sporty feel.
gto is cool cause you can haul ass with 5 ppl in the car, and still look good, and beat the 4 bangers.
I hate american cars, and I think they are of low quality, because when me and my family went to chicago, we rented a ford, and the gas tank leaked gasoline everywhere. Could've died.Quote:

Everyone rags on the rental cars :D
everyone says X brand sucks, because the one day i drove their 20 year old x model, it had x problem.
It was a ford taurus that was that very year's model. Anyways I got a bad impression of american cars, and that impression was seconded by the fact that every family that my family is close with has japanese/german cars. And they never have problems. I also don't like how american SUVs are ugly, they have no style. They seriously need to learn after honda and such. Acura/Honda SUVs have style:D
There will always be people who make wide sweeping judgements, based on 1 bad experience alone. So a Ford had a problem, nothing new there. That must mean every car made in America is low quality. Right
i'de like to see you take your honda and work it on a ranch. lol, mdx+ranch = broken mdx lol. seriously, what good is "style" if you cant put it to work? small suv's sure, i see how style can be important, as you mostly haul your friends all over, but i bet a ford can take a side impact better than a honda.
OK bud. Your spot on. That also must mean that I should hate toyotas rite? I mean a corrolla I drove a fier years back stated shaking on the highway @65mph witch took forever to get to then almost killed me and my friends.Quote:

In any case I still believe different models have different costumer base. There is a place for everything. You believe certain brands and models are better, good for you, but personally I see you as a person who's trying to be a snob. I bet you have never even cracked the hood of you car. To pass judgment's you must know what you are dealing with and have experience with different cars and models.
At the end of the day its your choice in what you buy or use, but please don't shove anything in someones throat especially when you are full of hot air.
There are plenty sour cars to go around. By the way.. the Ford Taurus was a POS 7 years ago..I don't know about now. No company is perfect, but I think Honda has a better track record than Ford.
