I´m currently using this pump on my watercooling setup (Storm rev.2,PA160...)

I´ve used a Laing D5 for my last WC setup so this time i´ve decided to change. Results so far (my watercooling knowledge is very limited :() are fine to me.

At 12v (the lowest) the pump is very silent & performs well. My 24/7 rig is the X2 3800 on my sig at 280x10 1,41v. Idles at 28c & 36-38c at full load (dual SP2004). Ambient temps are always between 22-25c.

At 24v the pump is clearly audible & vibrate like a mad :stick: I only get about 1c gain at 24v, probably because it´s more a matter of the radiator than the pump (i think).

This is my second pump. The first was Hydor seltz L20 and compared to that Iwaki is A LOT louder.

I don't know if there is air in the system. I changed to silicone tubing and since then (4 months) I have to add coolant every two weeks. Silicone is supposed to loose some water to evaporation but maybe this is to much?

Alphacool has expanded its range of Laing offerings by adding some industrial pumps of the S/T 5/6 series with 100 Watt! Power draw and flowrates like your average Storm drain with 5,8-6,1 mH2O head pressure. Have they gone mad?

Anything over ~50watts of input power is totaly useless..

Ya, funny part is they state watercooling as 1 of it's main applications, twice actually :P

That is 120W more heat to remove and 120W more energy drawn from the wall (with good efficiency PSU). Just stupid.:frag:

It's not 12 Volt, so no losses from dc conversion.

something like that. more like 75-100watts. Wattage also differes with flow rate.

Okay so I have read over the pump recommondations, and still a little fuzzy.

I have a:
G5 Silver Storm
Maze 4 Actetal
77 Bonnie Heatre Core (Dual Panaflow 1A's)
with 1/2" ID tubing.
Will have a Fillport/T-line.

The D5 I bought was a piece of crap.!!!!!! (It died!)

So I am willing to fork over the green backs and get a Iwiki,
I will be getting at Stacker(not 830) so I will have room.

So I am asking on recommondation on which Iwiki.
Like I said still fuzzy on which one exaclty.

If this is the right pump, then I will order it ASAP.

That is indeed the right pump

Iwakis are KICK ass pumps, but be warned. They vibrate like a bastard so you MUST put them on a good layer of neoprene. If you fail to due this it will rattle the case like you put a jackrabbit (not the animal) in the case.

Also as I mentioned it has a low rumble to it.

So in short, if your going for a super quiet system like I, and more recently many people, its not the pump for you. On the other hand, if a little noise doesnt bother you and you have your fans near 12v then you wont even hear the pump if propery vibration isolated.

Hi guys, i'm italian, and we have a different vison of watercooling pump. we usually have acquarium pump in our system. But in the last year, we noticed the best quality of pumps like mcp655, laing ddc...
so, I need tho choose a new pump for my rig.
I have to decide between swiftech mcp655/DD d5 and aqauextreme 50z.
I like very much the second one. my rig is composed by a black ice pro 2, and a cpu block, an italian cpu block, Overclocklabs MB-06, with very low flow restriction (with hydor seltz l20 II it has 350lt for hour).
I need your help.

i can get asetek pump + display pretty cheap.
how good/loud/heat dump compared to mcp650 lets say
i'll be running 1 gpu, 1 nb (both asetek) and alphacool dual hdd rad. dunno bout the rad. will bip 2 be enough?

The asetek pump, even the extreme, has a bit low head pressure.

Man so many pumps to choose from. So what would be the best considering these facts:

1. Has high head pressure
2. Fairly to really quiet
3. Isn't the size of a beast
4. Won't break the bank
5. Uses the least amount of wattage
6. Dump as little heat as possible into the setup.

I'm currently looking for a good socket 754 waterblock so it will be a high flow one. I'll need a nice pump to match. :D

AquaXtreme 50Z(3,2m), Laing D4(3,4m), Laing D5(3,7m), DDC-Pro(3,7m), Iwaki MD-20(4,3m), DDC-Ultra(4,7), Iwaki MD-30(5,4m).

It's hard to say but at least the D4 and D5 will have to go?
AquaXtreme 50Z Some seems to be very quiet while others are kinda loud?
DDC-Pro Known to be one of the most quiet pumps out there.
Iwaki MD-20 Dunno?
DDC-Ultra Louder than the 10W DDC but still quiet. (According to me.)
Iwaki MD-30 Dunno?

3. Isn't the size of a beast
AquaXtreme 50Z, DDC-Pro, DDC-Ultra.

4. Won't break the bank
This kinda depends on where you live, shipping and customs fees can be very expensive.
AquaXtreme 50Z (US $75, EU £55), DDC-Pro(No US reseller? EU 70€), DDC-Ultra(No US reseller? EU 90€).

5. Uses the least amount of wattage
AquaXtreme 50Z(12W), DDC-Pro(10W), DDC-Ultra(18W).

6. Dump as little heat as possible into the setup.

Conclusion
If you live in the US 50Z is a good and cheap alternative but it can be kinda loud.
If you live in Europe DDC-Ultra will give you great performance at an acceptable sound level, DDC-Pro will give you good performance and it's about as quiet as it gets.

DDC is the way to go if you really want a silent computer. I still don't know how much the new 18W DDC is louder than the old 10W version.

I have double 10w's, they rule my world. You can buy em for 150€ new or , like me, for 100€ on ebay. Over 7m of head and only about 15w heatdump into the water.

This is merely an observation as I have no statistical data, but it seems the 50Z is kinda spotty on its noise levels. Some of them are noiser than others. For instance mine is incredibly quiet and cannot be heard over yates at 7v but others report the 50Z to be kind of loud for their tastes.

DDc on the other hand is more consistent with its noise levels and is VERY quiet.

I do believe I just found a US provider of the DDC-Pro... Dang expensive though... Am I right or am I delusional?

Whoa good lord! That is pretty damn expensive! I'll just risk it with the 50Z for a MUCH cheaper price and live with the noise, or I'll just be creative and insulate the noise and not have a worry in the world. :D

DD sells the 18W, just not with the plexi top.

Also, I have reports that the swifty MCP350 is now the 18W version, orange impeller and all.

Just take them and do the top inlet, 1/2 barb mod yourself :)

No, there were only a few MCP350 which were the 18W version. That was a mistake. Swiftech will release MCP355 which will be the 18W version. MCP350 will always be the 10W version:
