Just wondering, how does this board compare to the abit nf7?

i got a much faster boot time, the bios is a bit more detailed, and its got some sick looking UV reactive stuff.Quote:

but there arent a lot of heatsinks that fit the board :(
NF7-S v2 sitting next to me... but im having vCore problems with it so i think im gonna rma itQuote:

Hi All,
What's the final word on the WD Hard Drives??
Last I heard you could use them secondary and a possible wait for a new bios for primary.
Thx,
Mines in the Mail Baby!
bump
I do not know the issue. :(
But maybe you should open an own thread for this topic :)

But my drivers really sucked. At the moment I'm formatting and installing all drivers new, so I'll soon post some new scores.
And my FX5900 is going to be modded soon. ;)
WD hdd's work in secondary or primary slave. as long as its not primary master its fine. i have 2 WD drives in mine, secondary master, and primary slave. works fine.
I have a very big bad wall at 262/263 :( Cant get past it.. Vdd modded the board..nothing.. 3.65V on the mem..nothing.. I think Vmem is too unstable.Quote:

But try to push the graphics card... the system will get more voltage dips (getting unstable) because of the v-regulation and I think it's harder to complete a bench ;)
Or did you even fight for this bench to complete? Restarting it again and again after being dropped back to desktop one more time...
My bench was done directly after a restart and completed perfectly :) And me thumb idiot thought I could get it stable
@Fewture
Maybe its your voltage dips, maybe it's your rams limit with this board... maybe the board or bios are limiting you :(
It's really bad there are too many possibilities what it could be :(
Did you already try a vdd of 2,2V? Or just less? Try to cool the tiny bga ram controller IC (nearby the point you did your vdimm mod at :) )... maybe it helps. I assume you have all mosfets cooled as well ;)
Another chance is to try one of the alpha bioses on amdmb forum (by OSKAR). Possible, you already did. :D
I was having boot issues with my Lanparty B and my XP2400 mobile . Using this BIOS :http://www.dfi-street.com/userbios.html
The 1-21 version cleared that issue up after I disabled AMD shutdown temp in the BIOS :)
Results with that BIOS for me are good :http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7592940
Thinking about doing the vcore mod to max this Mobile chip ;)
This is with a vapochill BTW .
Cheers
k... here's one for u DFI gurus... can't seem to spot anythin in the threads that are on the go about this so I'm stumped.
At high FSBs (well, not all THAT high... ANYTHING above 220FSB) the system randomly pauses for lengths of time. It looks like a lockup, and normally I'd just hit reset but I was off makin a coffee, came back and it had come back to life, then locked again, then came back... the entire system just pauses temporarily when running much above 220. Will do 250FSB, but higher the FSB, the longer and more frequent the pauses.
Using BH6 ram (Old Corsair XMS3200 512Mb sticks... 2 of)
DFI LanParty NFII UltraB
1-31 bios
11-2-2-2-2-9-12-en-en-fast (have tried lower timings, still same)
XP1700+ DLT3C JIUHB (does 2.9Ghz on NF7-S at 200FSB... won't get anywhere near on this DFI board... not enuff vcore)
Prommi MkII
Microcool Northpole on NB
3v - 3.2v to ram
2v to CPU
All rails peachy perfect other than a slight sag on 3.3 (3.26) from me Hiper520w PSU
All temps perfect...
CPU Diode: -47
Evap: -44
Under Socket: +10 (under neoprene n' goop)
Ambient: +30
+5: 4.98
+12: 11.89 (12.01 if I unplug USB HDDs)
+3.3: 3.25
Core: 1.99v
NB: 1.8v
AGP: 66Mhz / 1.6v
Any recommendations???
Could be caused by the onboard lan/usb/sound.
Is APIC on or off ?
It sounds like the sort of thing that effects me when I have APIC on .
Switch it off via device manager and all related problems go away .
Force install "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC"
Instead of "ACPI Uniprocessor PC"
Then reboot . Driver rollback will switch it back arround if you are running WinXP . Win2K can be force installed back and forth .
Worth a shot :)
I'd tend to agree with turning off on-board features not needed - in particular the NIC.
I'm using a PCI NIC (wireless) and have never had any pausing or stuttering, up to 250 FSB. Above 250 my system's not stable enough for more than a SS or two so I can't say how it behaves over long periods of time.
APIC is ON on my rig. SATA, NIC, RAID are not enabled. USB enabled.
The onbord NIC causes me nothing but problems.Doesn't even work above 250FSB.Anytime it's enabled causes severe performance drop.I just use a PCI NIC like SJ.
Will give those a shot and let ya know... am beginning to suspect it may be the USB causing me probs as keyboard and mouse drop out (both USB) which would possibly appear as a lockup to me as nuthin would be doing anything. Am gonna try with PS2 hardware n' see if that helps as well as disabling excess resources n killing ACPI...
Anyone else noticed the wonderful temp sensors??? ie: the accurate CPU Diode that confirms that my MkII is actually giving me valid evap temps, except if CPU diode is colder than -50 the board refuses to boot as it flips back round to 255 and thinks it's cooking...
Have to set system to boot at -20 instead of -40 just to get the rig up in one go.... and makesure I don't reset CMOS as with CPU at stock (XP1700+) it won't fire up full stop.... FAR too cold for it to handle. Had to temporarily bridge mod the chip to 2v default n' 166 bus so that it'd fire up with enough heat to keep it above -50 (til I realised I could just raise prommi boot temp.... duh)
When I first built it I nearly returned the board as thought it was faulty til I caught onto what was going on... (anyone know of a modded bios with this problem removed??? would be MOST handy as I was gonna regas the prommi to 404 this week but now can't as if it gets any colder I'll NEVER get the :banana::banana::banana::banana: to start up!!)
In PC Health Status=Disable Show PC Health When Post
Still suffers from the problem with PCHealth enabled or disabled :( that was first thing i tried....
Marci - OSKAR_WU over at amdmb DFI forums might give a sympathetic ear to your prommie problem. He's a DFI employee, and knows his way around these BIOS' quite well. If anyone can fix the temp wrap-around problem, he can.
Hey Marci...
how do you read out the cpu diode  ?
Nforce config tool?
Nope, run Config Wizard in MBM5 and select the right motherboard and it does it all for you.
wow. did not know that...
Thanks Marci :)
Check over at amdmb for a modded bios that turns off AMD shutdown temp . Bigtoe modded bios version 1-21 and 1-31 have been made to help boot problems .
I requested tictac make the same thing with the 2-15 bios and like a champ he did :)
I have yet to test it , but it should work as bigtoes 1-21 BIOS did when I turned off AMD shutdown temp :D
I have had the boot problem with my vapochill since I started using my mobile 2400+ CPU .
Cheers :D
OK . Tictacs bios works great :)
Still get the odd siren at boot now and then , but a quick on off and the system starts fine . No more holding insert etc..........
Cheers
