Sorry to hear that mate! What you at the minute clockwise!
Nothing really. My system was stable at 3.7 on XP and 3.6 on Vista 64 and that was OCCT and Prime95 stable.
Now I wasnt able to get 3.6 on XP and it wasnt even a failed after a few minutes error....Prime95 failed immediately after I set the affinity to all cores with a BSOD.
Due to work, I wont be able to do much until later today.
Have just managed to get mine stable today with the new bios at 3.5 1560Mhz 6-6-6-18 in windows 7 x64 Build 7127! How high do u have the nb clock! Have found with this bios the nb doesnt clock has high!

Will try and do a 3.6Mhz run soon! And tighter memory timing!
Looking good there!
Yeah I am going to work on it tonight but will test the NB first as you mentioned.
I found with this bios i had to start allover again in ocing! My past tests with F3B wouldnt work at all! One good thing is thou my cpu needs less voltage for 3.6Mhz!
Yes, otherwise I only got 3 cores. BTW, doing that played a number on my Vista 64 install..I had to validate it again...weird.
My Win 7 loads had to go through the whole New hardware installed thing, but that was it. Even tho both were used with four cores prior. On your previous post, I don't know the method used when you flashed, but I always flashed non overclocked and do a complete CLR of the bios. I setup all settings again and save my OC Prolfiles. If you did this, then I don't know what is going on for sure. I do know mine is much more stable.
Yeah I take all the safe measures of loading safe settings, then flashing, then clearing CMOS and loading safe again,....just to make sure.
Who knows whats going on...I will try it again.
A few questions guys:
**First, is there a good temperature range that I should look for to get the most out of my RAM? I am trying to find out if I should use some active cooling.
**Second, when running prime95 Blend I noticed that Kernel memory shows:
Total 90036
Paged 47308
Nonpaged 42720
Whats the point of testing the paging file?
**Third, I noticed that apparently under XP SP3 every program that is multi processor compatible is been set to just CORE 0. I happened to prime, 3dmark06, pcmark05, pov3.7 , etc.
I need to manually set affinity to all cores and then it stays like that from that point on.
Do I need an AMD driver or something?
I found this http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/dyna...42f&ItemID=173 updated on March 2009.
Regards
You guys, board is running fine now. After getting the HCF0, it booted up fine. Flashed the F3K bios and now the crucial d9gtr/s are working flawlessly.
Glad to hear that mate! What speed are you running them D9gtr/s at and timing!

Not sure, how warm is your ram getting?
2nd
Pay no attention to the Page usage. Just make sure your available ram (physical) around 100MB, then you know it is loaded.

The one core thing is strange. I the AMD CPU driver is just for cool-n-quiet under XP. You could uninstall the CPU cores and reboot.
I havent been able to do much testing due to a family loss but I decided to try to keep my mind doing something like this to avoid feeling more depressed.
BTW, I am now stable running 3.7Ghz NB2600 and Ram 1333 6-6-6 so I am back in good shape.
Sorry to hear about the loss,
On the PC side, gald you are it figured out. Last night I about killed my CPU. I was trying to run some 3dmark06 and the system shut down. So I tweaked and then tried again. shut down again. I went lower frequency and the system was no longer booting into windowa not even xp. It took me a little bit to realize my Rad was on fire. My pump quit running and the system was hooter then crap. The CPU block was scorching hot. I found my plug was loose. I can't bench at 3.9ghz anymore. not even in XP. ANd 2800NB is out of the question. I was only able to get 2400NB max 100% stable with 3.6ghz 1.45v CPU. I have 2 720BE's so no worry.
Ouch, sorry to hear that too....good that you have more though. I got this lonely one so I can't get too crazy. :-)
BTW, my RAM according to a probe I tried to sandwich between the heatsink and memory gets to about 45C when running Prime95 with room temp at about 75F.
Hehee and i thought the M3A79-t only did that. Aint it a pain.
Somehow the Os gets tricked into too many cpu changes i guesse, then make you revalidate.
do a back up on another HD if ya have a spare. Before you swap Bios . Then you can restore your drive after and revalidate with new x4cores.
Also switching between two and three cores has done this to me as well, even if your not using 4xcore Bioses.
:sofa: Can you guys help me out? New to AMD, and I have just installed this board and the BE 955. I've got it water cooled, and am just wanting to verify temps. At first, I was seeing the CPU at 26-27 degrees C - then realized the CPU was running at 1.6 GHz (Vcore at .98). Flashed the BIOS to F3K, and now at 3.6 GHz, Vcore 1.35. Haven't tweaked any other settings.
CPU temps running at 32-33 at idle, and highest I've seen is 41 after running OCCT for an hour. Similar temps for PRIME 95. Ambient is 23. My question is, am I actually loading all 4 cores (it looks like it, but the temps I was seeing on OCCT were so close for all 4 cores, it made me wonder - although I'm comparing to an i7 920 where the cores vary by as much as 5-6 degrees). Running Prime95 now (back at 3.2GHz), and it's showing testing for all four cores ... temps at 39 after 30 minutes ...
I've been googling temp info for the 955, but finding stuff that's all over the map. I'd be delighted if my CPU is running in the low 40s at 3.6 GHz, but I am just a tad skeptical. The temp readings seem right, given the "touch test" to the loop - which is why I want to make sure I'm truly loading it at 100%.
Thanks, and apologies for a basic question in this advanced thread!
Hey Shazza,, Nice what are you using:D(SINGLE two row TRIPPLE) or a (GOOD Two Row DOUBLE RAD).
your Ambiant @ 23c around 1.35-1.4v @ 3.6ghz clock, good to go. Only differance with 955 and 940 series is the Amount of Volts used is lower for the Same clocks.
The temps you are seeing are in the normal zone ,, Looks to me you are maybe running a Single DOUBLE or Thin Tripple set up..
I have my 720BE running 1.55volts with 20c idle @19c Ambiant@ 3.95mhz and 35-36c fully Loaded Three cores.
Im running two tripples :D
In all, It its a whole new ball game between I7 and PhenomII when it comes to volts and temps.
Thanks for the confirmation, gOtVoltage. My loop is MCP355+XSPC Res Top > Magicool Extreme 240 Rad > CPU (955) > GPU (4870X2) > Magicool Extreme 240 > back to pump. Both rads with Low Speed Yates. Had limitations on which components I could use, so was going for adequate, if not great, cooling. I can live fine with these temps. I also confirmed with Everest, so guess I'll stop worrying. For reference, my i7 920 is in its own PA120.3 loop - idle at 35, load at 55 @ Vcore 1.26, 3.6GHz. So, my adventure into AMD is a nice experience, especially because this will be used for a HTPC.
Nice ,, I knew you had some nice cooling . I saw one of your build/thread other day . Great work and your Pictures...wow...
Well need to finish up swapping my M3A79-T to the UD4p.
Going to Adventure my720 again with 4cores. The ASUS cant tweak them when unlocked unless its a M4series Mobo all the M3A's dont do good at it.
Glad you like you AMD. These are fun systems and youll soon find out , They can be tweaked 101ways to the Moon.
