I picked up two e8600's from Newegg in the last 3 weeks, batches q820 and q822, and both have VID's of 1.25. Still testing both, but it looks like 4.0 GHz will require about 1.38 vcore (everest idle measurement) for stability, and 4.25 GHz will need at least a vcore of 1.41. I'm afraid to even venture a guess what 4.5GHz would need. Needless to say, these were not the vcore requirements I was hoping for (I have an old e8400 running perfectly stable at 4.0 GHz at 1.38vcore). I will say, however, that they do run cool- at 1.39vcore the core temps barely exceed 50c under the heaviest Prime or OCCT load with air cooling (TRUE120 w/ push pull fans).

Post #547, some more info and different voltages in E8600 5ghz superPI 32M threat...
I must admit I haven't noticed that you are on nvidia chipset:D
I must dissagree about motherboard! Anything over 415FSB was so unstable it was inpossible for 24/7 ussage. Now I have the second one, and its worse (can't boot at 375FSB) so now I'm waiting for gigabyte with A3 P45 NB), but I will have to wait some more (lets say Slovenian sellers are not the fastest one:mad:)

Yes and I know where the problem is- In my Balistix, so I asked you which ram do you have:D
I swapped recently (actually 2 days ago) my E8400 for a new E8600 E0 Q822* and i can run it stable (linpack, orthos, prime95 all good) at 4500Mhz with 1.3500v in BIOS (1.336 CPU-Z). My E8400 needed 1.4500v BIOS and 1.44v CPU-Z for stability at only 4050Mhz. All of this on a P5Q Deluxe motherboard (can't help thanking leeghoofd once again for BIOS settings help).
Here are some screenshots of the setup, i want to test with less voltage, see where it starts to crash:

^^ 1.35 for 4.5....nice chip NaMcO...mine scales about 300 mhz behind yours.
My E8600 is middle of the road ...4.2 (9x467) at 1.328v (cpuz) 12hrs prime and linpack 75 stable, 4.3 w/1.36v, 4.4 w/1.4v. I should have needed ~1.62v for 5 ghz (just superpi stable), based on scaling at 4.9 to boot windows...but crappy GB bios jumps from 1.6 to 1.65...easily booted and ran superpi at 5ghz 1.65v...so only benched for few minutes.

I'm using the Asus MIIF and watercooling the cpu, with a gigabyte EP45-U3DP coming soon. I've been able to get both chips to 4 ghz (450x9) orthos 12 hr blend stable (usually what I like to see before I game with a specific setting) with 1.38vcore according to everest at idle- any less vcore and either chip will crap out with errors before my arbitrary 12 hr standard of stability. I'm currently trying to get one of the chips to 4.4 ghz (490x9) stable, and I'm still throwing orthos rounding errors at under 1 hr using up to 1.43ish vcore- but I'm going to play with other setting like the gtl's to make sure I really need all that vcore. Both chips have a VID of 1.25. And heat has not yet been a limiting factor, as even at 1.43 vcore I have yet to exceed 55C with either core while orthos is running.
Nice going rge... I found the lowest voltage i can set on mine is 1.3250 BIOS which turns out to be 1.31v in CPU-Z. I tried 1.28v, 1.29v and it BSODs on me when i push it so i set it to 1.31v for "insurance" ;)
These are all settings for my goal 24/7: 4500Mhz.
manage to max my 8600 a bit :) i know it could get more, but gotta take care of the rest of my saturday too!! :)

The watercooling in sign, and a little help from the cool air from outside ;) open balcony door :)
but then i had to close freezing my toes off :P
I did Limit myself to 1.78 vcore, sure i could get it higher, but naah.... some other time. some other board or something :)
Well, this is XS right? :) If i only had Ln2 :) and RE board, i would push this baby till its bleeding :) seems like a pretty good canditate for ln2 though..
just by using cold air i raised my maclock from 5186 to 5300 so -100 would do some serious damage :P 1.78 aint that high i think.. used it for shirt session only.
cores were way below 30c idle i idle and about 32c in 22c room, sensors are stuck and 31 and 36 and wont go lower, but they didnt move in idle mode, about 43c in prime at 1.42.
burn baby burn!

lol.. 2 x 100C thats nothing vs 4 x 125C qx6700 inferno :)
unfortunately this e8600 is no better than my 2x q9650..
if i get it to bench @ 5.5ghz.. be very lucky
