**Official DFI LanParty UT P35-T2R Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

I just got my board installed and its working great so far:) First thing I did after about a 1/2hr of optimized defaults and no C1, F7 error and what have you I flashed to 8/23/07 and right now I am at 3.2ghz X8 multi and kind of unsure of voltage settings and other stuff as most that post are way above these clocks and most are Dual also!

Could one or more of you Gentleman post a Working Template for 3.2ghz to 3.4ghz with X8 multi and give me reasonable voltage parameters so I do not over do it on unfamiliar settings and so forth. The G-Skills in my sig I have had at 950mhz @ 1:1 Linked & Synced on my EVGA 680i A1 and ran prime stable for 8hrs 4-4-4-10 and tight sub timings so I know they have potential.

Strange one of my hard drives WD 500 Gb YS version SATA 2 can't run on ICH9 SATA controller but on JMicron controller is working just fine :eek:

Don't mean to shoot the messenger, but given we've paid for their premium board, why should we then be considering spending more on third party cooling. Especially as DFI are already producing an independent solution on their LT boards. Just seems a bit :banana::banana::banana::banana:e to me. As if those customers buying the LT version now are getting the better deal.


Anyway on to the replacement board, and I'm well bloody miffed.
Looks like my replacement is worst than the first. At least the first I got two weeks out of. This one gave me a day, before deciding to C1 and 88 on me.

What I'm saying is that it ran fine and stable. I shut it down. Come back to it later, and it decided to have none of it.

Same as the last one. My memory now won't run stable above stock of 800.

Small FTT fine, but blend crashes and restarts. Will do more tests, but have run this familiar path already. Just waisting time. Oh and it squeals.

I was able to actually get some work done on other brands.

So, so far out of 4 p35-t2rs between NCSA and myself, only one has been any good.

Oh and one P35-Blood that ran for 3-4 days before dying.

The sales assistant actually joked with me when I came to pick it up, and said take my pick. As if to say, good luck???

I'm so glad I payed so much extra money... for a board like this. *sarcasm* hint hint.

well (knocking vigorously on wood) I have not had any issues...

I have yet to open the box...too many other things going on...sure hope I got a good one...

I'm having the exact same problem with my IP35 Pro. It runs just fine and stable, I shut it down, boot it back up again, and it gives me C1. Though I've always managed to get rid of it by just rebooting, and luckily it rarely comes up.

have you tested memory on non-DFI board to make sure the memory itself is fine ?

For some reason I keep hearing the words 'Definately :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing Iffy'.

On the first board I thought maybe it was my ram. We tested some other sticks, same problem. Tested my sticks in a dfi 965 and they memtested away at 1000mhz 4-4-4-12 on stock volts. Pretty happy about that.

Since then I've had them in the Blood, no problem and likewise in NCSA's P35-T2R.

I can't actually even get memtest to run on this board, whatever my settings. Get's as far as the blinking cursor and that's that.

It's going back tomorrow, and reluctantly I'm going to have to consider an Asus. Either the blitz or P5k_Deluxe. Got to say not over the moon about that.

I have this issue and memtest as well. My board seems fine though I have had 2 C1 post errors in the past week since building the system. Whenever I run Memtest+ 1.70 the blue screen loads but then locks up with the cursor blinking in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

Only in 3 scenarios have i experienced something similar on DFI LP UT P35-T2R in terms of memtest86+ v1.70 and blinking cursor/freezing

1. when hitting a max cpu FSB wall or not enough or optimal cpu vtt/NB/clockgen/cpu pll voltage combination

2. setting memory timings/sub timings waaay too tight

3. Incorrect clk fine delay values for a particular memory clock/memory divider/memory frequency combination

Update: well here I am not 24 hrs into using this board and so far @ 3.2ghz and only cpu vcore bumped and Nbridge @ 1.45v CPU VTT @ 1.28v and Ram @ 1:1 DDR2 800 1.90v it for one has that High Pitched Noise we have all come to hate referred to as "Squeal" and also I have the Transpiper and copper plate on and my NB/ PWM are both at about 48c @ idle and oh yea my CPU at the same clocks as my ABIT IP35 PRO are 6c dearer at Idle and 10c more under load:clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: Way to go D.F.I and this is honestly a freaking joke for a $300.00 board:( and Smart Guardian is about as worthless as it comes these days too!

I think if you've got a decent P35-T2R, then you can certainly work with these settings. It's worthwhile.

I haven't given up on this board. been running it through the night. Every time I've thought that I've cracked something, say a decent CLK manual setting, a few restarts later it throws a curve ball at me.

Even on a pretty minimal overclock, with the loosest of timings, I've had the machine shutdown mid internet browsing. Secretly I think it knew I was browsing for another brand of motherboard. lol (excuse that comment, I'm tired)

Sure there should be an element of skill to tweaking that extra bit of performance out of a board, but I don't think stability should be quite so elusive.

In fairness I'm not ruling out the possibility that going the asus route, isn't going to open a whole new can of worms either. Decisions???

Well in the end in/out with these boards equates into about 8hrs a clip between take old out, put in new, Bang head for 24-48hrs , out with the new back in with the old I mean cmon with this bullsh@t already Intel this is beyond a joke just to run you're processors! You know I really cannot blame and point fingers at DFI because these are traits that have been present in every board I have owned and tried since I decided to see what all of the Hoopla was all about with the C2D offerings. Quite frankly I regret ever making the decision not to wait for AMD!!!

and i found a better solution to smart guardian, everest 4.10.1140 it now has v-dimm and hd2900 support.

and btw. my board has done it's share of panic attacks but when you get them tweaked in they are stable and reliable.

mine's running fine too, 3.6ghz cam @ 1.39 on the 266 strap. Now trying to psuh 1.437 for 3.704, both on air. With most timings on more aggressive too.. Retail b3 next..

well i had problems with memory at first, even though how high I set Vdimm, it always fails test 5 of memtest.. just needed to increase north bridge voltage to make it work though..

Well believe it or not I just Flashed to 9/13/07 and so far it seems better than 8/23/07 official.....so far!!

Has anyone else tried the whole Transpiper/ Copper Plate deal and had there NB/PWM Temps rise? :rolleyes:

Speaking of North Bridge and PWM temps what are you guys running Q6600 chips getting on average at idle and load at say 3.2-3.3ghz?

Even at stock whats you're temps for PWM/CHIPSET with Q6600?????

Also when I flashed the 9/13/07 BETA it has cleared up the SQUEAL:D makes me friggin happy as hell bwcause that whole deal (not just this board) has been driving me F@cking Insano:eek:

Anyway heres what I did with the Beta 9/13/07 from Andre when I flashed.....


A:\AWDFLASH.EXE LP35D913.BIN /CD /CP /CC /PY /CKS /SN /QI /LD /WB /E

The last Switching Parameter /E brings you back to A:\ Prompt //// after you Flash at that point I re enter the whole shpeel above once more and Flash a second time which results in a cleaner Flash and less chance of anything not getting over written the first time.........My buddy... Robert...(Rgone) taught me that trick with my D.F.I Expert Board:yepp:

I have not tried the transpiper transfer yet myself. I think it may be best with water cooling, I was thinking of the hassle of 2-3 extra blocks and all that tubing. I'd prefer just having one shiny block and lots of UV in my case to show up the board. I dunno how temps would act...

Unfortunately I do not have a q6600, if I did I would post up some settings. I am just toying with 3.7 on air as we speak.

Yeah the 913 bios is definitely the animal to be running. I have talked with Kris and he feels the same. I never really ran another bios, my board arrived at the time 9/13 was launched and Tony asked John and myself to give it a bash. Kris had tried the earlier releases, he told me that on equivalent settings this bios performs better and is more overclock friendly..


Pointer wise I would say there are 2 ways to run this board well, on the 9x multi if cooling allows it, or repeat on the 8x/7x at lower cpu mhz.

These are 3.6ghz region, but you can scale them down on lower multi's

400 fsb on the 9x multi on the 266 strap for 1200mhz ram speed @ cas 5.

Or 450fsb with the 8 x multi, with ddr 1125 cas 5 ( i am @ 1.39vcore and 2.1vdimm with gtls @ 115/114/117). With the right gtls, aim for 1.58 vtt (don't worry about this one being high) 115/115/115 will be your starting point, it will require some tuning though and patience, I put in 4-5 days oif work to get a feel of what fsb's the board likes etc and just how far this 266 strap will go for 24/7 use.


Both myself and Kris are near each other on gtl settings, within a few digits with both our boards/cpu's reacting differently to each others settings, we are only a couple off and need to move 1 up or down either way at various fsb points.

The 450fsb oc I have on file with 8 hours of prime is coming in at a nice steady 48ns latency completely stable and that is plenty fast for all games etc with real nice voltages. I will make out a template for this later, or you can pm me if you so desire.

I am close to moving over to water cooling now to see what the board will do. My honest (and I mean honest) opinion is that this is DFI's finest C2D board yet..
