I had a fan left over from my old nForce2 board. The screws I had screwed right into the fins on the HSF without any adhesive.

Iam always wary of flashing bios, my last asus board seemed to have a clever ability to flash itself from floppy even if the rest of the bios went bad. Anything similar on this board?

can someone understand this language explain why he didnt go any higher?? it looks like japanese

did it improve your OC

i'll have a nice fan blowing over the RAM and that nb there.......as TT BT won't have any airflow that way heh

I don't have a Conroe yet so I have no idea. I'm definitely not going to test it without a fan. It's hot here in NC.

any new bIOS will fix this "reboot in order to OC" problem??

i mean i can boot at stock setting (after turning PSU off and on, then flip the power on switch) then i loaded my OCing such as 920D 4GHz, and all that, then reboot and bam it boots jsut fine. But after i shutdown the computer, and PSU and tried to boot at 4GHz ... it fails , then the mobo shutdown PSU on n off for about 4 times and loaded non overclock setting. It booted, then i can reload my overclock setting VIA this way,

misterous do u know anything like this??

apples for apples you need to draw conclusions........you know that tests even different between same mobos...let alone different ones........slightly in this case but different nonetheless

why spend money on :banana::banana::banana::banana: like that if it doesn't help with performance.........i don't think that will really impact CPU speeds/temp either

Dinos its not just about oc'ing its about the fact that the spec's of these chipsets dont require active cooling and anyone who has had a 975 or 965 chipset will tell you that northbridge get HOT!!!!!

it NEEDS active cooling.

its not about the OC its about being smart and doing what the stupid mobo makers shoudl have done and offered a way to cool the device to allow it to actually live longer.

don't you think they would put fans on there if the motherboards would die as a result...............it's a waste of money.....just get good case airflow and you'll be right.........i mean i'll certainly go and buy one of those if OCs will improve as a result otherwise some decent air over RAM and NB will do just fine ;)

case flow does absolutely Z E R O for northbridge temps.

i would hope to god you would know this by now.

and you'll go buy one after you feel how hot this DS3 northbridge gets.

as cheap as this mobo is just spend $2 and treat yourself ot a decent little NB fan. ;)

For allendale the ds3 gives higher fsb and the dq6 has all the fancy stuff needed for the 4 core chips. 440fsb is dam good anyway, I hope ds3 still does better with retail allen anyhow

is it just me or is anyone else experiencing goofy usb mouse activity ?

whenever i run a cd like install a game or anything my mouse is just really slow.
i havent seen a mouse do that for years, seriously,,

either the usb on these boards (or mine) is screwed up, or.....

also please a few of you guys go into device manager and take a look at the IRQ placement of your devices.
for some stupid reason this mobo piles a crap load of devices on a few IRQ's
i mean main devices.
Video, PCI-E Bus(which is fine its part of the video system), and USB all on one IRQ
then IDE, SATA and Another USB controller on another IRQ

its jsut crazy i dont think i have ever seen a motherboard use 1 IRQ for so many devices.

and there is no way to change this either.
the motherboard doesnt offer ACPI 1 or 2 options

the only other wya to avoid this would be to reload windows and hit F5 and choose Standard PC instead of ACPI compliant PC. this reallocates the IRQ system to something very different.
but also limits your IRQ's to 17 i believe instead of 24 like ACPI 2.0.

anyone else seeing aot of major hardware devices on 1 IRQ ?

nope but i only have :

usb mouse
usb keyboard
DVD RW on IDE
WD2500 on SATA

so ..i dunno i never experience anything like that my mouse works just fine

I always thought coolaler was from Taiwan. Therefore, its in Taiwanese. My second best hunch would be Chinese. Mandarin maybe?
