No, it isn't normal. I have about 50°C load with air cooling and 40mm fan at 5v
I think he have only CPU waterblock ? If I'm wrong than it IS high temperature.
Doesn't matter, on stock heatsink that is also high temp... But I think he have WB on NB as he wrote ,,i think i gotta remount again''
^^ What cooler? If yours turns out good I may try watercooling the board for the first time.
i hope your E770 rocks OC Nub.let us know how it goes.
did you ever try the E760?
im trying desperately to get a used E760,which will be my first eVGA board
also.kind of worried about using a new bios format(been on gigabyte so long)
because i dont like confusion frustration when it come to OCing.so let me know
how it goes for you and how dealing with a new bios format goes:up:
today after long time with no test i've fired up the board with the 950 and 3x2gb kingston mgh-e-hyper...so, same config as always.
all was at air cooling, but the mobo at the first boot stuck on FF.
4 hours later i retried the board and this time it works "fine"...but...only with QPI in full mode.
when i set slow mode the board start and pass from F8 --> F3 --> F6 --> F8 --> some strange codes (e.g. d4 - that means nothing.......).
if i press reset button the mobo restart and this time boot apparently normaly but when i'm in windows with CPUz and CPU-Tweaker i ALWAYS see memory in 2:8 and uncore 16x.
there is no :banana::banana::banana:ing way to make it boot with another memory or uncore multiplier with QPI in slow mode.
and this occurs with bios S61A, 44 and 74 ALSO WITH LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS and only QPI slow mode and dividers modified by me.
in less than 3 months it gave me alot of trouble, every time there is something that doesn't work properly.........
Thanks Federico.
Will post results with the new board asap, I am excited to finally try a Classified. I picked the rex3 over it last time, turned out to be mistake.
It is weird switching to another brand after using giga so long, but once you play around with it a while it feels normal again.
zsams had 2 classi's radaja, maybe he is still looking to sell one.
^ you mean the standoff supporting the mobo? mine are 3/8 or 9.525mm tall.
lol sry man, i never had a block for the board.
I have the apogee XT water block, the backplate wont work on the e770 classified 3. I was going to order the HeatKiller 3.0 backplate to replace this one but keep my XT block. Does anyone know if this will work?
The backplate for the XT is square and will hit these circled in red. They stick out enough to make me nervous putting any pressure on them.

wont work
the heatkiller screws are much thicker
just cut the backplate in that area
^^ Thanks, think I have it figured out, cut out slots in the xt backplate so they wont hit. What cpu block are you using?
Well this is the slowest build I have done. Got home late, but was able to get the XT backplate to work. Hopefully this weekend I will build.
Next I have to clean up the wires on this non modular psu.

Got the board running a few minutes ago, will take some learning. The board overvolts quite a bit, but this was my first try at these bclks, NO SLOWMODE, havent done any testing yet, just wanted to see if it booted at 230bclk from bios. Need to figure out the VTT, not like my giga board.

http://img813.imageshack.us/img813/4897/1sttry.png
nice bclk OC Nub:up:
maybe i should sell my UD5
and save up for a new E770:D
:banana::banana::banana::banana: slowmode lol
Thanks radaja
NO SLOWMODE feels good, hope it lasts lol
Last try before I go to bed, hope to get some time to learn the board this weekend. Boots from bios with very little effort at 233.
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/9096/e770.png
that qpi link speed givin me a hardon
you can also try moving the JIOH jumper there at the NB to the other position and if it doesnt help bclk oc just move it back
@ OC Nub:
Damn, that's a really nice bclk for ambient temps. Could you post your settings? :)
Also, ummm... 29C VREG? Can't be right?
bro
hmm i know u already mentioned to me in KPC that the ioh skew and cpu skew has to be aligned etc..
but eh.. asus having both of it off .. can stabilize high bclk's with high qpi speeds.
so was just wondering to ask again for it.
also is it possible to have a tWL on dram timings like giga boards do.
hmm cause still trying to run a 2k C6 psc on a 920. its like some of the subtiming issue or etc... but works fine on a 980x
also hmm just ordered a 770.waiting for fedex, so wondering what does that jioh jumper do ??
cstkl1, mate, iirc Peter ain't working at evga anymore. Maybe post it to their forums, hope you get heard.
/edit.
Seems like the E770 is a great board and clocks bclk nicely without exaggerated voltages. Seems mine E759 (NB rev1.2) can get there only with some pushing and under cold. Can boot at 21x235 with singlestage... but it's nowhere near stable.
Thanks guys, seems to be a very good board for bclk. Havent done any testing still, just got home. Having fun just getting it to boot with over 230, a number my rex3 will never see. Will save settings and post later. This was 235 set in bios, but comes up a little under that in windows. Im not sure if E-Leet tune reads the temps right but I do have fairly cool air blowing at the open case.

but it crashed instantly when i started prime95:mad:

Nice job radaja. I miss the giga bios, this is a bit different and will take some learning.
Does the E770 have the VT double pump issue when rebooting?
^^ Im not sure what that is.
First test Ive done with the board. Short LinX run 4500mhz 1.388v load, screen shows 1.399v but went down to 1.388 most of the run at load. Could possibly get vcore lower, this was my first try with the board. I have to say I thought it would take more vcore with this board than my UD7 for the same clocks but it is not voltage hungry. VTT, IOH core, and QPI PLL were set same as on the UD7 for 4500 once I figured out how to adjust for the board overvolting, can pretty much use same settings for the same clocks. Unsure about what to set the IOH PLL so I left at default 1.80v, my UD7 doesnt have this setting.
The board doesnt have LLC1 and LLC2 option, so I set it to With Vdroop, the board overvolts when using Without VDroop so I dont like using that option.
The 3rd screen just shows voltages set.

I note a little bit strange behavior of my system:
I7 980x - 016Axxx
EVGA 760 @ 74 BIOS
3x2GB Team 1866 mhz
Corsair HX1000
Water cooling
The CPU is stabile 4200mhz@1.305v in Prime95 small FFT (30 min – max temp 67 degree) and makes 4589mhz@1.529v in Vantage (max temp 83 degree) or 4608mhz@1.517v in Vantage (low BCLK).
The issue:
I increased vcore to 1.56v but I cannot finish Vantage not even at 4620 mhz. I always get windows error “….has encountered an error and need to close...” I tested from 4620 MHz to 4.800 MHz @ 1.56v but I get the same error. After I close error window the system work.
At 4.900mhz@1.56v I get the BSOD.
On SS I only managed 4900mhz@1.62v in Vantage with Idle temp -15 degree and max temp 28 degree in Vantage. The behavior is the same@4940-5100mhz – windows error.
Any idea?

I get Windows Error, "Windows Desktop Manager stopped responding and needs to close" (or something like that) if it isnt stable under full load. Once I increased voltages and get it somewhat stable it doesnt happen.
"Windows Desktop Manager stopped responding and needs to close", is caused by unstable display/PCIe.
Usually means unstable chipset, the BCLK is too high for voltages applied to IOH/chipset.
Didnt know that, thanks.
Ran 06 at 229bclk, 230 set in bios. My Rex3 jumped out of the box and hid behind the couch when I ran this. Im pretty happy with this board.

I have a strange problem, I can not enable or disable turbo. Why is before turbo X? Does anybody know to solve the problem?
http://www.shrani.si/t/3Q/Df/exxLOFr/untitled.jpg
Another short LinX run with the new board, the voltage required are just as good clock for clock as on the UD7. Its seems to be a very good board. Idle vcore is high because I didnt use LLC.

Cheers dude. :)
Do you find your VTT overvolts? +225 should give me 1.425v but it's 1.5v idle and 1.55v load!!!
don't know, later i will check with DMM. :)
with the 2 others 760 i've used i've +0.04 and +0.02 on VDIMM but all the other voltages are always very close to what i set in bios.
+0.05 positive drop isn't a good thing if it's in a DU rig.
if i were you i would try with load line calibration disabled, maybe it solve the problem.
p.s. NB temperature of this one is at least 20° lower than what i had with the first 760.
Very interesting... It contradicts with what Shamino was suggesting.Quote:
CPU impedance - auto // less = no boot at > 200 BCLK
QPI signal comp - auto // less = no boot at > 200 BCLK
yes, i know, in fact i've always used less, but with this particular board if i want high BCLK i need auto.

Great news... I wish you to reach new heights, mate!
has anyone here used a corsair HX850 with the E760 and tried to use both 8 pin cpu power connectors.
the HX850 doesnt have two but according to jonny guru he said you could mod and existing cable to work
question is-wouldnt i want to use the black modular connector rather than the blue?blue is where the pci-e cable connect to.Quote:
About the only place they don't have you covered is if you have the rare board that needs two 8 pin EPS connectors.
That's when you start butchering the modular cables. It would be relatively easy to cobble something together that would run
from one of the blue connectors to the second EPS.
is it the same power between the blue and black?
also do i need to use both 8 pin connectors?does it provide a big enough benefit to OCing on the E760 to worry about?
@ radaja Ill try 4500 single 8pin tonight with the same settings and see if its still stable.
thanks OC Nub:D
If you can point me in the direction of the info I'd be happy to test exactly this for you as I have a 760 and the HX850 (and dozens of spare modular cables). :)
EDIT: Or more so, is the second EPS connector the same pin layout as the first (I can't find any decent pics)?
yea he really doesnt go into it anymore than what was said in the quote i posted.thats why i was wondering
how to go about trying it.do i use the blue inputs or the black inputs on the actual PSU?do they put out different
amounts of current?heres the review i got it from maybe you can see something that helps

i have extra PCI-E cables too and could try it when my E760 gets here.
just want to make sure im using the right inputs
In the review he says "Blue"
OC Nub,yea i just wasnt sure if he meant blue cable to mod or blue input to use.
Shiranui Gen-An,thanks for clearing it up.so now i just need to figure out how to mod
it(wiring order for cpu)
Here ya go. :)

hi radaja ... I am in the same situation as you ... I have evga e770 mobo + corsair hx850
OC_Nub did it worked as good as with two 8 pin cpu connectors?
and please post a template or two for 4.2-4.4GHZ :D
I'm really newb to EVGA and there are a lot of settings I don't really know how to set them ... like CPU PWM Frequency and QPI PWM Frequency ...
I don't know where are the RTLS and many others ... this is new bios to me and I really need a starting point
please post a "how to do" that conversion from the VGA connector to CPU power connector when u get done
This is how I have it setup, has been good for 4500mhz 4 threads.
Check voltages with a DMM, can grab one for 20.00 at radio shack or home depot. Dram over volts, and QPI/VTT takes some figuring out because it is in +mv. E-Leet is wrong on some of the voltages like dram and vtt.
The easy read points are very easy to use like it says.
+75mv gives me 1.28VTT real tested with a DMM, yours may be different, e leet reads much higher.
1.60v DRam set in bios gives it 1.634 real tested with a DMM, 1.65 in e leet.
For 4300-4400mhz I dont think it would matter if you used a single or dual 8pins for the cpu. I ran linx at 4500mhz last night (a short run) and it passed using a single 8 pin, gflops werent steady like before, could have been my settings though, not sure why.

radaja, I just bought one of these:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=25694
its on evy site
Dual EPS mod done, I used two of the blue PCIE cables and plugs, taking two 12v and GND from each. Initial tests show absolutely no difference at all. lol I'll try some 4.5GHz LinX later to see if it's stabilised things there at all.
EDIT: It might just be me (and Linx testing later will confirm) but I think the CPU is running cooler now...
Well radaja.... did you get the board?
Did you do the dual EPS mod for it?
not yet.
i cant seem to get the x21 to work?
in bios it only lets me set 12-20.
im running bios 6/30/10 rev13 but i tried
running 21x215 and it just wont do it?
radaja, if I enable turbo it still shows 21x multi on this 930 in bios but in windows it shows the 22x multi.
Managed to get 2300mhz mem but looks like it drops a channel unless I raise the timings.

ok,i was looking at your bios SS's and thought i should be able to do 21 too:D
but i dont own a 930 do i?no i dont:ROTF: my first classy fart
you know i never checked,i just kept rebooting into the bios to see if any of my
changes i tried had worked and then when i finally booted into windows it failed
so loaded defaults and then posted here on how to fix it:D
man these voltages are whacky,it loads my vtt at stock as 1.24v so +100 gives
1.36v but load it jumps to 1.39v.
you test with dmm? e leet reads very high but with a dmm vtt was much lower.
Just started linx, e-leet reads vtt at 1.37v and dmm reads 1.28v. have it set to +75mv in bios
i havent tried a DMM yet but i will soon.what kind of temps are you getting on vreg and NB and MB sensors?
i got the AC blowing in hard and still at 27c vreg/39c Nb/17c MB? i cant figure out how to get NB and vreg
temps down like the MB sensor.i have three 40mm fans blowing directly down ove socket and another on NB
nice:up: the P35-UT-T2R stomps my EP45-UD3P.but soon i will rectify this:D
took 1.71v dram and 1.60vtt. stopped after that, dont want to kill anything.
vreg is 29c, this software doesnt show nb on this c3 yet, only place to check is in bios, which doesnt do a lot of good. with your cooling im sure everything is fine.

wow...great CPU!!!
use mch strap 1333 and u will get better timings
the new bios
hmm seems a lot of ppl dont know how to use it
with the tWL and tRL ( it was incomplete without the tWL)
and the tREF
u can use any other manufactorer ram timings
example like r3e bclk 200 C8 2:10 timings
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/l...1/af11e3ee.png
r3e timings are much more mem timings tighter but
less strained for ure Uncore especially on C7 and C6 on 2:10
^^ Thanks, strap makes a big difference in sub timings and in aida64 bench, I was using 1600 to try and keep it stable. Trying 1066 strap, required 1.67vDimm.
