How come the Gigabyte UD3R motherboards can push Quads so far, as far as FSB goes and the P5Q Deluxe can barely get over 480? I can get it to go past 480 but, barely like 485 was the farthest I could get it to go and that took slowing everything down on the motherboard.
They push FSB Term volts way higher... set FSB term voltage to AUTO and see what happens... 500FSB is no problem on the P5Q Dlx, but ya rams have to run at 1200mhz then... 2Gb is also far easier than 4

This dude is running 2 x 2GB and in 1:1 which ends up being him running his memory at 1100. Also he is running 550FSB! What FSB Term voltage is the highest you should go with this board or chipset whatever you want to call it?Quote:

I'm struggling with my Q9550 on the EP45T UD3LR, 485FSB is stable, 500 is not...( no GTL tweaks for CPU nor MCH in the bios ) on air though... I hope to tweak it properly on the Maximus Gene II board ( if it ever comes lol)

I'm keeping FSB term sub 1.35 mate, but some just pump over 1.4 through their quad CPU's... with phase or such you can go far lower with the volts then when on air... Lets hope they put a newer rev NB on you PCB...
My NB never really liked anything over 1.32Nb volts, with the Giga's we are happily pushing 1.4 and beyond there... really strange

As far as the NB voltage goes, yeah I think something is going on there that we are not aware of. Hence the questions about why dude can go soooo far with his P45 chipset and here I am, can't get over 485. I honestly can say for a fact that this thing is holding me back at this point, just don't know why.
he uses chilled water too, with load temps of 20°c, helps fsb big time !!
I noticed you asked him what he was using. I got some new memory on the way and the new motherboard so, I will see what happens when I get everything together and post the results. I ordered some OCZ Blade DDR2 1150 memory.
Leeghoofd, sorry this is offtopic but I heard you mention a custom prime run that you use in your reviews could you tell me a little more about it? Thanks.
I just use Prime95 (32bit or 64bit depending on OS used), custom mode selected with 20K - 20K set... it fails faster than normal small FFT's, plus we compared it with the then actual IBT and temps were within 3-4°C of IBT (current linX is again up to 7-10°C difference on the cores) But my main test is to have constant heatoutput to test my watercooling or other cooling gear... ( With the IBT I stress my own hardware way harder and I'm already over 200 hours primes with the current I7 watercooling blocks roundup )

Incredible CPU manage to do 4.10 Ghz pretty easy i would should you the pics of my benchmark if i knew how to upload a picture of bigger than 600 x 600 lol really happy with it though 1.4 vcore only

1.44 on CPUv is that too much?? it wont boot if it goes below 1.4 ?? so what should i do? plus the temps are really good anyway
That is probably because you are pushing the FSB to far for this motherboard for one thing and you probably need to tweak the rest of your BIOS settings so you can get that Voltage for the CPU lower. You can post your BIOS settings and some one here will tell you what to tweak that will probably land you less voltage being required for the CPU and then you should be able to get 480FSB stable with the motherboard as well. I am basing this off my own experience so far by the way. I can't get 485 FSB completely, stable on this mother board.Quote:

Thats because your not stable. Dude I hope that vcore is without loadline. Thats quite a bit of juice. You shouldn't need that. You might want to try tweeking the other settings in the bios.Quote:

Yeah, absolutely no doubt about it now. I was having issues with 480... Tried few things nothing would make it more stable. Just cranked up the NB voltage to 1.58v!!! Running stable with Prime95 right now no, :banana::banana::banana::banana:! This is nuts!
I backed my settings down for now to 450 x8.5! just until I get all my drivers installed exedra and then I will keep tweaking away. Interesting how high of voltage this thing likes when getting up their in FSB. I will have to feel this new board out for awhile apparently because it is like night and day compared to my other mother board. I have tried all my old settings and this thing just likes more voltage. I ran prime95 all last night at 450 x 8.5. I set my NB voltage to 1.3 and turned down my cpu voltage to 1.248v and it ran through prime all night just fine. Totaly different beast here now.
I am having issues installing the damn chipset drivers though. Has any one here figured out how to get intel chipset drivers to properly install with these mother boards while running windows 7? I will run the setup and it just says finished, I know damn well nothing installed.. Tried googling can't find anything about it. Normaly I have a driver program that does it for me but I have to have the support team for the program reset my keys for it before I can use it again and I don't want to wait 48hrs for that to happen. I have tried compatability mode for Vista Service pack 1 and run as admin and that isn't working either. I can't be the only person to run in to this issue.

I'm pretty sure I installed using vista compatibility mode when I put the beta on. Maybe the RC already has the correct chipset drivers built in. Pretty much everything else is!Quote:

I always have this issue for some reason which is why I started using that driver program which is actually good if they had better key management but, always had this issue with Windows 7 for some reason. Windows 7 is using an old~ driver. I want to install the newest ones then install my other drivers but, can't do it until I get this issue resolved first. I just don't get it. Another Update: First of all, I said hell with the newest drivers for now and installed my GPU drivers. Second, I really can't get past 470FSB with this motherboard I have now. I have been tweking and poking and just can't manage. I can get up to 460FSB just fine. I might try clearing the motherboard for a few hours with the battery out and see if it has some ghost BIOS weird thing going on or something.\
Updates further: I didn't clear it out for two hours like I said in my upset state at th emother board but, I let it sit for awhile and I also unplugged and replugged in all my power supply connections and mother board connections and checked for loose wires every where and I am now on 470FSB stable it looks like. I noticed when I first installed this thing that I got a fatal error message and a cpu has been changed message as well, maybe it was a ghost. :sofa:
Ok this is really annoying now?! i am still getting a low benchmark on 3D mark 06 :shakes:? i really dont know why i tried to put it back in stock and i get an amount of gpu and cpu score and the more a push the cpu the better the score on the cpu but the worse on the gpu?? why should it not go both up sinces the cpu is responsable for helping the gpu fps to go higher?? i dont get it, it only happens whenever i go higer that 3.9 ghz?? could it be that am bottlenecking the northbrige?? really dont know? :shrug:
