So I have to try all the GTL values? I can't just jump from .61 to .63 because .61 only gave me 10sec stability in prime95 small FFT? Is it true that just changing to .615 can give me 100% stability?

just try to up the Vcore a bit more mate, that will be far more beneficial... 10sec stability will take more than just a GTL tweak...
hi friends, i have found interesting results concerning GTLs.
I have a q9550 E0 overclocked to 4.1 (480 fsb) totally stable.
vcore 1.256
gtl 0 - auto
gtl 1 - auto
fsb term - 1.30
chipset voltage 1.32
gtl 0.650
any tweak with gtl chipset result in bsod, no boot until i reach this value.(0.65 or above)
for 490 fsb i have to up the fsb term to 1.34 and chipset to 1.36, also the vcore to 1.268
i am almost sure that 1.34 v fsb is totally safe for daily use, but i dont have a result that justify that increase.....

Ok guys so i decided to go with a new Cpu the almighty Q96550 hopefully with this chip ill be able to break the 4.0 ghz barrier which i had with my Q6700 ill post you my setting as soon as it arrives Dave Out :cool:
Yeah the E0 revision are really well made... appart from being 45nm which give out less heat, the main difference i found was that the E0 consumes less power so i suppose more oc is possible at lower voltages...

I think the latest tend to be the best... but not always thought for asus boards i always bothered getting the latest bios out i got 2201 and i got not problem with it matey
In all honestly, from all the different BIOSes i've tried (betas, modded, officials), i've found very little difference.
I personally am still on 1805, as it works just fine for me & i haven't felt the need to update.
Could be partially because i have the P5Q Deluxe, whereas Asus cripples the lower end boards (this being where Ket's modded BIOSes become especially useful).
Guys i am now doughting between the Q9650 or the core i7 920 which one do you think will performe better if i do get the i7 that would mean changing my board and ram which would cost me a lot more than the Q9650.... but if the new chip is much faster (which i dont know) i might move over..... what do you guys think?? also getting my 28" monitor soon :-)
I say get a Q9550 for $169.99 at Micro Center and go for 4.1GHZ like every one else seems to be lately and be happy with that. I would wait for a couple new CPUs to come out for Intel and another new Chipset or two. When the Performance difference will be bigger and noticable between these Quads and the new CPUs and then pounce.
Dude I have enough power with this new Q9550 to last for a while seriously. Maybe use that money to get a new GPU depending on how they perform compared to what you have. I don't know though. I asked in the 9550 Thread if any one thought I am maxing out this Chipset now and no one answered me about it. Does any one here have an opinion on that question?
agree, but dont expect do get 4.1 ghz.

but i think the extra money buying a new mobo, processor(i7) and memory, dont deserv it now.
I7 in general has higher minimum fps, which makes some games better playable, though the extra cost you pay for that premium is not really worth it. Liek stated before, get an 9550 or 9650, OC it to 3.8-4Ghz and you will have enough CPU power for any game out there... Maybe you can sell that GTX 275 and grab 2 ATI 4890 cards to power that 28 inch monitor...
nope mate, but instead of going I7 it might be better to opt for some dead cheap 4890 cards to support his big monitor... Will be far more beneficial than boosting to a whole new platform (english is not my main language so some stuff I post might not be 100% clear) and be stuck with one gtx 275 (bottlenecking !)
Thank you for the reply and I wasn't sure about his video card. They are coming out with the 5000 series next and prices will be dropping again to you must think of that. I am sticking with mine for awhile unless they stumble apon the holy grail of GPU performance and come out with awesome video cards.
But am not sure about running 2 ATI's i mean the chipset in the board is a P45 so ill be running at 8 x speeds :mad: which i have had some expiriences and i have to say they are pretty crap where there Nvidia or Ati if not running at full 16 x both of them i wont Xfire plus i bought this board for other reasons if i wanted to use 2 cards i would of got a SLI board.... i do a lot of Photoshop web and graphic design also use low level language programing and i play mostly crysis and fear series so ill probably buy a Single mre powerfull card routher than 2 and Xfire cos IMHO SLI or crossfire dont give you a massive improvement and is worse running them on 8 x......:(
My mother board just can not, handle above 480 to well. I have been messing around with it for a couple of days when I can any way. I am working 64hr weeks at work right now, third week in a row! I was able to get 485 semi stable but, I backed it back down after trying 490 because I just couldn't get it, stable. I will mess with it more here soon though. I wish this chipset could handle more FSB because I know my chip can handle more, hell I think that my Q9450 could at this point too. The kid I sold it to is lucky because it was a golden chip.
Edit: Also, Lee, I think I might be maxing this thing out man because I was looking around last night and seen people with less power then me getting higher scores then me in 3DVantage by like 1000 points (with similar setups, CPU, GPU exe.). I will keep poking at this thing until I can say for sure whether or not I am maxing this thing out. I wish some one that lives close to me in the Ohio area with a X48 MB would come visit me for some overclocking fun with some of my setup so I can say for sure whether or not I am maxing this thing out.
Does the BIOS version 2201 still overvolt the DRAM? If so, by how much?
I skimmed through the later pages of this thread for the overvolt on the BIOS version 2201, but couldn't find it. I might've missed it.
that could differ from board to board mate, some overvolted with every bios, some newer revs never did. Only one way to find out is to test the rams with eg 0.08 less volts or to get a DMM and do the readouts yaself; It's not because mine overvolts that yours does too, sorry but I know this does not really help ya
