yes its safe. If the pump is too loud for your (although it shoudlnt be), you can turn down the speed of the pump, which will reduce the pump noise quite a bit from what I have been told by members.

Oki...Then im going to buy a d5 pump from dangerdenstore...:)
Maxx, u should add some RD-20 data to the first post :)
How about the new Laing DDC-1 Plus?
It has 3/8" barbs, is that what I want for a 1/2" system or does it need to be 1/2"? (Sorry if this seems way too obvious :D)
fareastgq, I'll have to do that.
I'll add my voice... i reckon you should add the DDC Plus as well.
creidiki, got any PDF's or anything on it? I need solid data to be able to add it to the list.
Unfortunately Laing Thermotech doesent have any PDFs for the Delphi (what they call the DDC-1) :(
Well without any hard info or reviews (robotech style) I ralely cant pu a pump up there.
Can't it use these fittings?Quote:

Hmmmm... very interesting thread....! So, what's the bottom line here...? Iwaki RD series supposed to and/or appears to be about the best pump? (RD 20/30 to be precise)
RD20 is the optimum pump for ppl with normal sized rads.. if you have say a monstercore with 220cfm deltas, the RD30 is the best.
Any idea on the pricing difference between the RD models? (I mean, I am about to find out myself... But it's not like those people work on weekends...lol)Quote:

no idea...
About $18 wholesale (RD20 being cheaper). I don't know about retail though.Quote:

Anyone knows if the pump supposed to sound like this ?
I`m about to buy the D-5 pupm...so I`m interested in this too...:confused:Quote:

Hi!
I have an Iwaki pump. Model: MD-20RM-220No1. I can’t seem to find any info about it on the Internet. But on the pump itself it says:
Max capacity: 27 l/min
Max head: 3.1 m
The pump works very well. It lowered my temps about 3-5°C.
But there are two things I’m not happy about:
It gets VERY hot. It’s hard to keep a finger on it. And I have 20°C in my room. In the summer it will get to 30°C. Is it going to melt?
It is pretty loud. It’s the loudest thing in my room. I have it sitting on a piece of foam as it vibrates a lot. But it is noisy without vibration. Is it supposed to be that way? I think it has gotten more quiet with time. But it could also be that I got used to it.

Iwaki's get very hot. That is good as they don't dump that heat into the water. They should not get very loud. In fact my md20 was near silent. You might have some air bubbles in there.
IIRC, the iwaki manual for the MD-20 states something like "if you can pick it up without screaming out, its not too hot".
Ive also heard that sometimes putting a little more restriction in your loop - slightly crimping a tube - will silence it, but considering how powerful those things are, its probably air.
There is a great pump comparison at Cooling Masters (in French, translation works well):
http://www.cooling-masters.com/articles-33-0.html
Summary:
DDC (10W version) has the best noise/performace ratio - it is the most silent pump. In high restriction systems it has almost identical performace as MCP655/D5 but less noise! Only in low restriction systems D5 has an advantage. DDC also outputs very little heat into the system: D5 warms the water over twice as fast as DDC. This makes up for slightly lower performance. Plastic construction also helps to keep the pump heat out of the water. Of course, the inlet mod might make DDC perform even better, depending on the system.
I hope the older 10W version is still being manufactured in spite of the new 18W DDC - the new version might be louder.
what about that Alphacool AP1510 ?
http://www.alphacool.de/xt/product_i...p-12volts.html
cpu block will be nexxos xp, gpu block is home made :P radiotor will be BIP3 triple + 3x TT smartfan :P 120mm @3500 rpm :D
from the specs that pump looks to be totaly kick ass. Dont know about the build quality, but it deffinetly has alot of potential. Very low power conumption too.
The figures fo power consumption are given for 12 Volt use while the rest is given for 24 Volts, it needs 40+ Watts at 24 Volt.
