anybody know what the max "safe" limit is on the samsung chips? I know with the qimonda chips it is 1000......thanks!
I flashed my Bios by setting exact voltage to 1.1. After flashing I opened up Nibitor and it shows me 1.1V but my OC results are still the same.
My Card is an Asus EN8800GT. OC before flashing was 720GPU, 1800Shadder, 1000Memory.
After the flash nothing has changed..
Is there any extra option to do to improve OC?
Someone who has the same card can run 770/1900/1050 after flashing but I don't.. :(
And he has only set exact voltage to 1.1, the same as I do..
Got the same at >1000 Ram, yellow points and lines but no locking..
Turn down the memory clocks and test for artifacts ;)
Does anyone changed the fan cycle ic on Asus8800GT yet?
It runs at 100% all the time..
Don't know if you have the old or the new version. The new version (which I have) doesn't use the massive all-card cooler but instead uses something that looks like a rip-off of a Zalman VF900Cu except there's no heatpipes, very few fins and utterly crappy, cheap and useless. And it only uses 2 wires which means there's no fan controller, RPM monitor or anything. I threw that crap away and mounted a Zalman VF1000Cu instead. Dropped my temps a LOT, and it's inaudible since the CPU & Chipset fans are louder. ;)
BIOS Mod didn't work for me. As soon as Windows started up and Rivatuner loaded with my current stable O/C the screen goes berserk and corrupts it to non-usability. No idea why, very frustrating. Tried several times as well. Didn't change a single setting from my backed up default bios except for Extra: 1.1V
Oh well, I'll stick with 720/1782/2040.
Perhaps I should undervolt it? ;)
This mod is working on me, but if i set the voltage to more than 1.1v, the real voltage will be back to 1.05v.

Maximum i could get with 1.1v on air with modded stock cooling.
I'm another novice wanting reassurance.
I've just put a waterblock on my 8800GT, with heatsinks on all the voltage regulators, and their temps are around 35 degrees, and my coolermaster stacker has plenty of fans blowing at their general direction.
I'm nervous of overvolting, but from what I read here, is it true that newer cards are 1.1v as default, so there's no real need to worry too much.
And all I need to do is set extra volts at 1.1 in nbitor.
Thanks, and wish me luck. At the moment, at stock i get artefacts above 705mhz core.
Lastly, my quimoda ram does 1050. Is there milage in messing with their timings, or as hinted here should I scale back to 1000 for "safety" ??
thanks.
Well volt modded mine a little while ago. Finally should say since I've been trying for ages, but couldn't get the software to work in dos as needed.
Went from a clock of 741/1820/999 max.... to 792/1998/999 max (memory could probably go higher as well but never tried). Temps are a nice chilled 40C or lower that I've been able to crank out of it. Gotta love thermalright coolers \o/
Just made another attempt. After booting back into windows at stock settings and starting the 3d cube in ATITool (stock clocks) it acted weird (windows flickered etc). Something just isn't working right.
Guess: the ASUS EN8800GT's that have those cheap zalman-lookalike fans on them aren't built on 8800-boards but on 79xx-series boards. I noticed this when I installed the VF1000Cu, I had to use the 7900-holes to fit the VF1000 on it.
So whatever you do, DO NOT get one of those ASUS EN8800GT that have a cheap look-a-like fan on the GPU instead of the stock nvidia full-board one, you'll get a 7900-board with a G92-chip on it.
I guess if I want to do a proper volt-mod I need to check out 7900-voltmodding. :(

that doesnt make sense
Yea, not in the slightest. All 8800GT's have the "Old style" holes. I was able to use my old MAZE4 for my Palit 8800GT.
Well, I'll check out one of the 8800GT voltmod guides and compare the components. The really annoying thing is that the simple bios-mod screwed it up.
ok the deed is done, easily at 1.1v with ATI tool purring happily in the background
Core 749 up from 705, memory at 1030 (unchanged timings) shaders 1855.
Does that sound about right?
Yes your card is a very good overclocker. Remember though that the maximum artifact free speed isn't always the fastest because at some point the card may start to correct itself using valuable GPU cycles. Check with common benchmarks if the performance of the card increases all the way up to 749/1855/2060 ;)
i dont believe any gt's require the g80 holddown?
Checking the manual for my Zalman VF1000Cu there are 6 different "settings" where you install nipples depending on card. #6 is 8800-series (excluding 8800GT at least).
#5 was the one that worked for my 8800GT and #5 is supporting:
ATI X19x0 series, ATI X1800 series
Geforce 7950/7900/7800/7600/7300/6800-series
The conclusion is that at least my Asus EN8800GT use the same mounting holes as for the reference 7900.
guys, this is my geforce ASUS EN8800GT

what can do to get better performance?
with stock cooling the most stable testing in riva tuner are 700/900/1750
(look the screen)

can anyone guide me? ...thanks
Mb somebody tested MSI NX8800GT zilent with 1.1, how it overclocks?
Hi guys
I've a 8800gt zotac woth 660mhz on gpu
How Can I increase the voltage over 1,1 volt?
thanks
I've club 3d 8800gt ant with stock settings voltages are following:
Load - 1,21v
idle - 1,16v
It is possible what load is lower than idle?
