Wow, 1.175v. I swallowed hard when I saw 1.215v.My brother's e2160's VID is 1.275v. I was going to swap the chips but it's almost impossible to remove the Tuniq Tower and replace it without removing the motherboard.

my e2200 needs 1.392v just to do 3000 MHz with full stability!
the VID on it is 1.325v which is shocking IMO, and probably why its such a bad clocker...max I can get just for SuperPI is 3443MHz on 1.55v.
I dont know anything about that particular motherbaord but my DS3 965 Gigabyte doesnt even like anything above 300FSB so I run the multi at stock 11x and FSB at 273.
I put an e2180 in my mom's computer. It's VID is 1.325v (bought from newegg.com). I would like to use four letter words to describe the overclockability but my post would be removed. It only does 3.0Ghz on 1.325v. The chip won't go beyond 3Ghz even with more voltage. The cooler on my mom's board is a Zalman 9500 (my old, old cooler).
Let me just say that Intel is making huge advancements in their manufacturing process. My dad has my old C2D 6400 chip (2.13Ghz) that would easily overclock to 3.2Ghz but after that, it hit a wall. Newer chips are sailing though 4Ghz on the 65nm platform.
I thought 45nm was going to kick ass but I am going to wait awhile while Intel gets out the 45nm kinks. I was think the 45nm was going to hit 5Ghz on very good air cooling.
Just a quick history lesson from my point of view.
I have just bought an E2160... the cooler is simple comic... I´ve never seen such a small stuff... probably that thing can´t handle even 3ghz...

aparently the extremely small stock cooler not only do the job but do it with class... numbers comming soon. Incredible how cool are those 65nm E2160. Also, one thing i've noticed: my CPU has a stock vcore of only 1.225 volts!!!

when did you get that chip? (curious if the new ones are clocking better than the older ones) What motherboard was that on? Did you acheive that speed through clocking in windows or in bios?
my E2160 actually has a default voltage of 1.2375. For 3ghz (12 hours orthos running) I needed 1.2875. How good is that?
Mine goes to 3.6 but with 1.5 Vcore in BIOS. I guess newer chips OC like crazy!

I've bought an E2140 from a friend six months ago. The cpu is L2 stepping - SLA3J. It's not very good clocker because it has FSB Wall at 415-420mhz :(. For now I've reached 3ghz at stock vlotage ( VID 1.3V ). CPUZ shows 1.28V idle and 1.265V load:

I just don't know which program for monitoring to trust. They all show different readings, and also have very big differences. My cooler is very bad, worse than the stock intel cooler - ICT-D925R-GP.
What do you think, can i use it at 3ghz with these temps? Those temps were in May, now they will be 6-7*C higher.
PS. I'm using the cpu at 333*8 @ 1.15V now.
I dunno why my superpi is so slow, my ram timings arent that loose, and im at 3ghz.
new mobo, finally able to clock over 2ghz. there seems to be a limit to either this chip or the mobo. i cant go over 390fsb with any sort of stability. 3.12ghz is the max for me at 1.35v i bump up to 1.45 and still doesnt go over 3.12ghz/390 fsb. i use 375/3ghz stock voltage for everyday use.

I just bought a E2160 today. It cost me 54€. I don't find info for it's batch number. I know that is a Q814A452 (2008, week 14, A, SLA8Z = M0).
Do you think that it will go passed 3,4Ghz??? I will run it on a P5K premium motherboard, with 2 sticks of Geil DDR2 6400 4-4-4-12.
I am building this rig for my father, hehe.

I just bought a used e2140 and i cant seem to get it over 2.9GHz (363 x 8)...i've tried to up the voltage up to 1.5 and i still can't get it stable or even boot into windows - it actually freezes at POST. Seems like I got a dud comparatively. btw, VID is 1.325...almost as high as my QX6850 at 1.35 lol.
