I bumped up the vcore voltage to 1.55, but the cpu doesn't like it at all. Also it didn’t help me to reduce the SBVcore nor the ICH Voltage.Quote:

well "sb vcore" starts off at 1.50 whereas nb is only 1.25v.
I haven't charted into 500 on this board yet so I can't say anything specific. What are you using to cool the nb? Perhaps try putting fans resting above nb and sb blowing down and see if you gain anything. Or if you've gone aftermarket for nb, try putting the stock nb heatsink on the sb.
It sounds like you might need a vich mod though for more juice. have you tried a higher pcie? both freq and voltage (vcore sb)
That’s a good suggestion, a good fan son the SB may be the solution, and perhaps reseating the heatsink will help somehow. I'm using stock heatsinks in both the NB and SB. Also the impression is that the mobo can not keep up with the cpu, because it can reach 3.5 with just 1.384voltsQuote:

i noticed you had some decently aggressive memory timings. try 5-5-5-15-5-42-13-13-13-13 for now. that's a really loose timing to try and should keep ram in the clear for a while longer.
from what I remember, when I was setting 1.5v, I was seeing something like 1.38v under load. I think I might have had particularly bad droop, but the mod (I shaded for a full minute and then blew the loose graphite and got 5k ohm resistance and now I have 0 droop as well as 0 drop. killed two birds with one stone)
the p5b is a fantastic board. don't lose faith. although your current overclock is already fairly decent. from looking at it again, it definitely sounds like youre probably not getting enough vcore at load (as mentioned, droop is really painful)
Am I right to assume that if I can run a certain fsb at a lower multiplier, then vcore would be the only voltage I'd be looking at when I tried increasing the multiplier?
For instance, I'm trying 7x450=3150. I'm able to get away with 1.40vmch, 1.20vfsb, 1.50vpcie, 1.057vich. Would stability here confirm that these voltages are fine for 8x450=3600, where I'd only have to worry about vcore? I'm pretty sure for all of them except for vfsb, but since 450fsb is already confirmed at 1.2vfsb and 7x multi, I figure 8x should be same, no?
Probably yes but why dont you just try it? You should be able to run up to 500 with voltages at lowest after auto.

I guess i have some work cut out for me, will report back when done. but yes, i see lower vcore and vmem already using asus utility. those 2 mods seems a must if you want top oc.
Hey all. I am currently hitting wierd ceilings with my P5W DH board (380 mhz FSB wall, even when lowering multiplier and adjusting voltages, and the Ram wont go past 950mhz (a common issue on the P5W). Also, my motherboard temps were getting VERY hot (38C without an external huge fan blowing into the system, and I have a third party cooler on the NB!) Also, does anyone know WHAT the damn MB temp sesor is measuring? Is that NB?
So I have decided to try a P5B board to see if I can get the most out of my e6700 and super expensive low latency OCZ titanium ram.
I have read the first 50+ and last 50+ posts on this thread, and my question is simple: What is the current most stable and trusted BIOS update for all you guys pushing this board at 400+ fsb? The newest on ASUS's site says that if I install it, I can NOT go back to an older one, so I hesitate to get it without knowing.
Also, what do you guys think about me switching from a P5W DH to the P5B? Is this a stupid choice, or is the P5B truly a better board to reach higher FSB?

I've been using the latest without much issue. Seems like asus bioses in it's current iterations aren't as flakey as older gigabytes for example. And I remember seeing that warning too and being afraid, but I could swear I remember reading somewhere that you can still backflash but only in dos possibly
I'm hitting a very HARD wall at 481. It's driving me nuts.
System specs in sig.
I have been running ROCK solid at the following settings.
460x7
1.32v Vcore
2.2v Memory Voltage
1.3 FSB Termination
1.45 NB
SB auto
4-4-4-12 timing.
Bios: 7011
to find my FSB:
I lowered the multi to 6, My ram can do 500+, already tested it. I loosened the timing to 5-5-5-18 just to be sure. I've already tested the ram to go past 500Mhz. Its Micron D9-GMH.
Upped my FSB Termination to 1.45
Upped my NB to 1.65
I can post at 480. But at 481, NOTHING.
It's just BAM! a wall. What gives :(? any Ideas?
Tried increasing volt for SB? Could be max your cpu wil do with the cooling used though.
yeah when you are stuck and SB volts increase isnt helping you need VMCH vmods im afraid+120mm fan. ;)
I doubt it's the max for the CPU. I mean, i'm hitting 3.2ghz stable at stock volts for CPU.
the extra 100-150mhz at even 1.42V cannot possibly be the max.
I'll try SB, what should it be? 1.6?

Hitting 480 on a 266 chip and it's still not good enough. I "hit the wall" at 356 and to tell the truth, I'm quite pleased with it since I got 3.2 gig out of a 2.4 gig chip. Basically a $1000 chip for $300. I consider that quite a good deal and it sure doesn't drive me nuts.
