I had managed to get a stable 390Mhz out of the board with the 9/13 BIOS with no cold boot problems. It is called the bleeding edge for crying out loud. If you do not want to deal with annoying quirks then wait until second generation of chipsets (real NF 590 and Bearlake) to come out.

955X/975X chipset was designed back when P4XE was the hotness. C2D support was just an afterthought, so it is hardly a surprise that the 965 overclocks better. The 975X Abit and ASUS boards get a slightly higher FSB overclock due to 1333 strap support. The DFI Infinity overclocks damm well for being limited to an older chipset, 1066 strap and "value" product.

The acclaimed 965 family has it own annoying problems namely the known refusal to do a first-time boot with performance DDR2 modules.

The bottom line is that #1 rule with overclocking is "Your mileage may vary".

I am happy that my CPU managed to get a 45% overclock without too much trouble and can handle anything that I throw at it.

@ andrey_sebastia: Nice mem you got there. My settings are irrelevant. I can't get stable over 360-365. I'll give the PCIe 118 setting a shot though.

Er, and how did you get NB to 1.60 - hardmod? And I'll have to look for 'add-on', I don't remember seeing whatever that is. Did you change the drive strengths in your ram to 3x, I presume?

EDIT: Forget I mentioned the NB Volts. Don't know what I was thinking...

My Infinity topped out around 390 also, however the Abit AW9D-Max is also a 975X and they have no problem doing 450+. And, no, it doesnt use the 1333 strap either. It is not the fault of the chipset, its the board. DFI clearly didnt want the infinity to come anywhere near the LanParty boards, that is all. Even for a 975X board, 350-390 max FSB is pretty poor in my opinion.

yup yup.. AW9D-Max is at 1066 strap also.. the problem is that, its an infinity model.. which clearly DFI's mainstream solution.. but for a "value" model it is good for me..

my highest OC is at 8x440 for the E6400.. but as you can see i can only manage 330 mhz for the ram module.. Asus and Abit solve this problems.. why cant DFI???

and another is the cold boot issues.. I can only manage 8x425 without cold boot issues.. pass that when I restart my pc.. cold boot.. :(

and as we have notice.. this board have clearly a compatibility issues with some memory module.. and most 2x1gig modules.. :(

all of this issues are not chipset related from what I know.. :(

we need DFI's support

I think at this point its safe to assume that the 0913 is the final bios for this board. It corrected a few last problems and that's that.

Do we yet know if this board will support Kentsfield? (Kentfield?) (Core 2 Quad?). That may be a final straw if it does not... Not sure what to do with this board if it doesn't work out. Sell it for $70 on ebay, I imagine.

I hope 913 isn't the final bios. I've got serious booting issues with 913 & thats only @ 360fsb.

AW9D-Max = high-end, 975X Infinity = value. It is not exactly an apples to apples comparison. The vanila AWD9 would be a much closer comparison.

I also suspect the DFI board is probably BIOS limited. From what I read the AW9D-Max has slimiar annoying quirks when you try to push the board to its limits. It goes to show that first-generation stuff is usually full of annoying problems and the second generation fixes most of them.

hey man.. I'm using E6400.. maybe its a lot easier to overclock Allendale's in this boards.. mm this coming week i'll borrow my friend's E6600.. I hope to see higher nos. also.. I'll post my result here.. :D

Hope we get another bios updates.. anybody knows the codes for the PC analyzer that coolaler have??? I have one too.. but I dont know how to translate the codes.. :D

I was responding to someone who blamed it on the 975X chipset for its poor clocks. I agree, the Infinity is not limited by its chipset, its simply a value board that is not a great overclocker.

1,60 v is min in bios setting
I think U can't go over 365 cause of the mem, the same with me
can't go over 413
I left drive strengths to auto
but I'll change them

Why don't you put my settings for fsb 410?

With ATI x1900xtx default 3D I got hdr/SM3.0 2784 points
while
another got 3002 points with DFI x/g
and on Tom's Hardware 3200 points with NF4 chipset and FX62
ALL WITH THE SAME ATI FREQUENCIES (DEFAULT 3D)
Could someone tell me how to get 3000 points with this board ?

It stalls in bios screen after a while
also after "infinity" screen it stalls , what is this symtom ?
and the temperatures are below 50

TELL ME YOUR MEMORY BANDWIDTH (w. SANDRA)
CAUSE IT MIGHT BE MAX under 8500 MB/sec
with any proc/mem combination
This might explain why E6400 can obtain FSB 440 and E 6600 can't

hey man.. most 975x chips are in the 1066 strap.. i'll post my bios later.. i'll just edit this post.. :)

here are my settings..

I use the 0913 bios..

My settings are :

CPU Clock Setting 440
PCIE Clock Setting 101
CPU VID Offset Setting +15 mV (not sure.. will confirm later..)
CPU VTT Voltage Setting 1,25 V
DRAM Voltage Setting 2,30 V
NB Chip Voltage Setting 1,75 V

all the streght for the dram is set to 3x

*note that i set 400mhz for the memory on my bios.. when i change it to 533mhz.. it will not post..

*and also when i reboot my system.. it will not boot again.. (cold boots)

*this is just my highest OC but not stable because of the cold boots..
