hi again,

im still having the same problem...but now its even more often...its just a random lockup...i have removed dh remote, disable wlan, turn off firewire port, still get that problem...can it be motherboard related ? i have tried other pair of ram, the psu is brandnew and all volts are looking good according to everest...has any'1 else here get same prob? each time after the lock up i must leave the pc for 5 mins to get it to boot again else it doesnt...

When I talked about ramdom boot with that mobo happening sometimes next morning , nobody was interrested to answer ....

I load defauts setup bios and then use my o/c settings then next morning could boot without pb .

But did that once and this morning stopped while posting .:p:

I wonder if this issue is not related to usb ports ( have to try unplug all my external usb devices )

I didn't noticed that before I flashed to bios 1101 .. hmmm ( but I'm quite happy with it so )

well im using all stock settings and no o/c, i have tried putting stress load on motherboard etc to see if it will lockup but it doesnt, like i said its really random...i tried to look logs in windows but nothing there either...

1101 made mine freeze solid every now and then, 903 is fine.

hum its true that i never tried 0701 bios that came with board, flashed it directly to 1101...which is the best bios version till now for this board ?

Hi guys.

I've have ha problem.
I connected a P-ATA harddrive on my P5W DH.
Worked nice a few days, but now i cant find it. Not in the bios not in windows.
It's no big deal, planning to move the disk to an another computer anyway.
The P-ata controller is enabled, i see the message "no disk attaced" or somthing like that. My P-ata dvd rom works fine. (another controller)

I got an E6600 2.4@3.6 ghz, 400 fsb.

try another bios - or try to clock down and see - or get another cable

I updated to a P5WDH along with a Conroe 6400 and i'm having lots of issues with it.
First it a year to read from the dvd drive (propably PIO mode), second i believe that my raptor also is quite slow too and lastly i have numerous usb issues (with my bluetooth usb keyboard set, external hd not recognised plus others). I thought that it would be a very good companion from my 6400 but instead of oc'ing the hell out of it now, i'm dealing with usb issues... :mad:
I'm returning it on Monday for a P5B Deluxe.

Can you add the "Board does not read negative CPU temperatures below -27.5°C" issue please? :) There is no resolution, it's just how the board behaves. In fact it reports a massive overheat (127.5+) in the BIOS at anything below this. I'm sure a lot of people running phase, like myself, are going to end up unduely worried until they are made aware of this fact.

Pretty much every board does that. The DFI Nf4's did that, it's nothing new...

Which IDE and SATA ports are you using? Also try plugging in a PS2 keyboard.

Ok, but for someone coming from an Abit IC7-MAX3 it's new :) At least one other person has already posted another thread (in addition to the one I did) asking about it. Not all of us graduated from AMDs.

I'd like to thank everyone for a good read. This thread has been very helpful in setting up my current build. After reading this for a few days and going through two bios shipments from asus I've determined my cpu either suxs or this board is holding it back. To get 3.4ghz to pass 30 mins of orthos takes 1.65 to be set in bios. I can complete 3DMark06 @ 3.6ghz but orthos fails in two min. Using the 1101 bios, I'm currently priming @ 3.2ghz with 1.5vcore set in bios which drops as low as 1.464v under load. I'm gonna try the cpu on the MSI board tonight after I pass 12 hours dual prime @ this setting.:stick: O and the ASUS Panel really suxs!!! It reads everything wrong.

Did you try bios 1101 ?

I use less vcore with it :)

So you're running 1.48 vcore with 3.5 prime stable? Thats pretty good. I'm try to see how low I can go once I finish Orthos. I think you're x10 multiply might have to something to do with it since you dont need a higher fsb as I do. I'm at 1.53 right now, its not too bad for daily with water cooling, but I'd like to see maybe even under 1.5v too :)

Yes could be , E6700 was my choice after E6400 I tried and effectively needed more vcore even to get 3.2 ghz

yes 3.5 ghz @1.48 bios since I have bios 1101 ! :banana:

I'm very pleased with the thermalright ultra 120 + gigabyte 3D aurora

I only miss changing multi ;) maybe I 'll take a look on the 1201

sorry I'll edit my post, 1101 shipped with the bios's asus sent me. I tried 1.45vcore up to the 1.5vcore I'm currently at. 3.2GHz is not bad, but I wanted 3.4ghz without extreme volts as a minimum. Gonna go for another cpu and sell this on if it doesn't do better on the MSI.

Some gigabyte owners seem to use less core at same frequencies
However , what I noticed is my mobo doesn't like high vcore - One day I could'nt even post at 3.93 Ghz with 1.7V bios ( crazy I'm ....:p: ) and next day I posted successfully with "only" 1.62V and with synchronous ram which was impossible few days before without spd ..

I had to use less VCore on my DS3 than on this P5W for the same stable 356x9 OC. Kinda sucks.

I read somewhere in this thread that this board uses tight timings in the bootstrap which makes this board benchmark higher than others but tougher to set up and overclock. Wish someone could explain all that more clearly so perhaps we could figure out how to get more out of our cpus without requiring the added volts. It would also do well to have more memory options in the bios anyway for us tweakers. But maybe I've been using AMD & DFI for so long I've raised my expectations of an enthusiast board beyond that which is currently availabe for the conroe platform.

You and me both buddy. The only thing that has helped me get a stable overclock is more Vcore.

ive got my CPU stable @ 3060 1.3625 Vcore and can boot @ 3244 @ 1.3775 Vcore

but anything above that wont load windows i tried 1.4 Vcore @ 3.3 and it didnt like it am i trying with to low Vcore or did i just get a dud chip?

cooler is a scythe Ninja and im getting alot of diff temp readings

speedfan tells me 19C all coretemp reads 37-38 and ASUS probe reads 21-23

what temp is likely to be correct whats safe?

what vcore is safe for my cooler?
