Wheres the 5870x2, or the 5970, whatever they want to call it, I want it in my computer and running Vantage. Any news on the card? release date, or anything?

seems drivers have some way to go still, the scaling of that combination is better than 5870 crossfire. heh.

Aditional 5850 has gave quite a gain:D But also some driver problems (freezes in 3DMark03, Crysis FPS were much lower that with 2 5870 and so on...) But never the less: 58x0 beta drivers are much better than 48x0 beta were...:clap:

I ordered myself a pair of 5770s. They are a little slower then my 4870s, but 18 watt idle usage on each = sold!

They also came up as £60 less then a 5870, and most reviews and benchmarks show the Xfire 5770s on par if not better than one 5870.

Hopefully I will get ones that overclock well for once.

My roommate and I both have XFX 5870s. Whenever I play risen I get a thin (1 pixel?) red or white line along the left and top edges of the screen when I play Risen. Same exact thing with my roommate. I didn't get those with my 8800GT either. That's the only time I've noticed anything out of the ordinary so I'll wait for newer drivers before I start worrying about it.

Be careful, u won't see artifacts like the previous generation. The 5xxx series uses a correction algorithm. So, no matter how high u OC mem u still won't see any artifacts. Instead, u will get worse performance.

Ah, ok. I'm still downloading 3D mark 06 and Vantage, in the meanwhile I'm stressing my CPU overclock to make sure its stable.

180 mhz fsb with 3780 mhz on the CPU and 1.275v is my max stable OC I normally use, so far it is into 20 minutes of quad orthos with all cores at 100%, 73 degrees on the highest core.

If I bump the fsb up to 185 mhz, it blue screens, after that I start benching.

Afaik the x2 aka Hemlock is now 59xx.
Havent seen any info on that we'll see a 5890 anytime soon.

Edit: Hoping to see some more of it tomorrow :)

Gentleman, with the Cat 9.11 beta driver can one have the ability to do a Crossfire setup say with two 5870's and be able to run game in Eyefinity? Would this work using the two DVI's on one card and one DVI on the other card?

My card should be in by tomorrow...I can't wait.

I want to know what in the sam hell is going on with the 5870 cards.... they have been constantly being canceled & dissappearing.

1st: XFX 5870 cards killed everywhere (NewEgg & TigerDirect)
2nd: Asus 5870 no longer available @ Newegg

Are people having too many problems?

Nah, the supply is just a tad low atm afaik.
Although people who want a card can usually get the brand they want after looking around a little.

Just a word of caution on the Sapphire 5770 / 5750 cards - They provided everysingle reviewer with the version that comes with Dirt 2, but everyone that is available on retail is a different PKU version without Dirt 2.

Annoyed I was, just wont be buying anymore Sapphire cards.

Even some retailers arent aware of this as they list the 'dirtless' versions PKU code, but show a picture of the box with the Dirt 2 logo on it.

Well what problem(s) would it be then? Don't you think we would have seen some reports by now if that was the case?

I see both XFX and Asus cards in stock at other shops. So i wouldnt get too worried :)

No issues with XFX that any other brand wouldn't have. They're all reference designs right now. Whatever you heard is an isolated case. XFX just happens to be selling more than most other brands other than possibly Sapphire. More buyers, more issues tend to make themselves known.

works on any 5770, the only difference in the cards is the stickers.

There is but there are NDAs in place for certain aspects of the Vapor-X card. Pricing is one of them.

And if it is,should someone solder PIN7 to ground?(after finding the correct vr of course)

U reckon i should flash the asus bios??Didt get a lot from stock to 960/1400...:(

musashi doesnt fit unmodded on 5770...After some modding and cutting a heatpipe a little and almost destroying the cooler i managed to fit it on my 5770!

I'm not sure. I don't have a HD5770 to play with. :D

17250 on 06 with Core 2 Duo is very nice score. Congrats! :up:

Catalyst 9.10 disappears in Windows 7

Ok guys, was all stoked because I got my new Sapphire 5870 and Windows 7 Ultimate.
3dmark06, Vantage, and Heaven installed fine as well as 9.10 initially.
Got great and smooth performance in all.

After a while though CCC 9.10 just disappeared!
I tried reinstalling CCC and would get a BSOD even in safe mode.

Now I can't run any 3d apps without a reinstall.

I suspect it might have to do with microsoft Visual C incompatibility with CCC 9.10 but not sure.

Anyone else have this problem?

Gonna have to do the painful reinstall otherwise...

The VTX Versions are £10 less.

Crossfire 5770s can be picked up for £240.

I tried modding/flashing my 5850 BIOS with RBE and ATIFLASH, but was unsuccessful. All operations seemed to work, but I get the BSOD after about 4 seconds at the Vista splash screen. Even if my original BIOS was unmodded while in RBE, that is, loaded and saved without changing anything, my RBE BIOS causes BSOD. HAs anyone successfully modded/flashed a BIOS that was processed with RBE?

Maybe it's a prob only with the 5850. Also, I can use the modded BIOS but only with no ATI drivers loaded. In other words, if I uninstall my drivers so that I boot up with "standard VGA device" shown in device manager, I don't get a BSOD death with my modded BIOS. So something weird is happening with the combo of modded BIOS plus ATI drivers.
I'm using the ASUS unlocked BIOS now, but my card is still throttling down to 550 Mhz so the unlocked feature isn't helping me.

23k is quite a bit slower than 27k in Vantage, not sure what you're getting at mentioning your 295 scores in an ATI 5800 series thread.
