damn my worst pair kingston value needs 2.31v for 1200
1 of my sets degraded after doin 1330mhz n now need 2.05
my 2 other sets need 1.99v for 1200:D
eva2000 got some 2.0v 1200 sets too maybe he give ya 1 lol
Printable View
well if you had a gigabut board i'd give ya 5 weeks:rofl:
but dfi vdmm power is so stable they last long
why you even using 2.35v 24/7 you crazy:p:
just do cas 4 @ 1000mhz 2.22v its actually about the same
i use my ram with lowest possible voltage to max latency
some sets i run cas 3 some cas 4 my ballistix are best cas5 1200+
if i pumped 2.35v in ballistix 8500 i be doin 1300mhz 24/7
D'oh, made in China. Thanks for the heads up. I was on 5/31 lt x48 and will be testing 7/14 lt x48 tonight after work. 471x8.5 @ 1.2v is no problem for my E3110, but my NB is hitting a wall at ~483MHz. I can't even get 8x500 stable enough for crude testing on 5/31. If I don't like my results I'll make use of your suggestion.
my new x38 is having problems over 460, were my original was doing 545 so i think intel is putting out their junk stock now, for both
Do the bios versions take into consideration the stepping of the CPU somehow? I'm wondering if there is a better bios than 602 that might be better at auto detecting correct GTL's since that appears to be what is holding me back.
i tried teh gtls went from 66-70% and nothing, my old one was 68-68.5 but that insta crashes my new one, im going to move to an x48 block then see if that helps when i tested it on my old one it jacked the L2 numbers way up
but unless this bios came bad the board is much worse and its ever a tiawan
I have DFI LT X48-T2R and update the lastest BIOS.
I use this mobo with Q9550 (C1), I can't boot when I set vCore = 1.45v +. My PC reboot, reboot and reboot.
But set 1.4v and + 107% (~ 1.5xv) everything is OK.
Help me.
Sorry my bad English.
how do you know if it was made in china or Taiwan? Were does it say it?
im getting my Q9550 tomorrow, probably a c1
Every screenshot I have posted has been with a "Made in China" board. Regardless what the popular opinion may be the place of manufacture of this board has no bearing on the overclockability of it.
The method of displaying the BIOS settings automatically would be typing them out.
Ok, I'm doing something wrong. Using a USB drive with a floppy DOS image. I downloaded the x38 603 beta bios along with the x48 ut 602 beta bios, the zip archives, not the executables. I extracted the contents of the x38 603 archive to my USB drive and renamed the x48 ut 602 file to the exact name of the x38 603 file and replaced it on the USB drive. However, I'm still getting the same error when running "awdflash.exe x38ad603.bin" from DOS.
:confused2
Thanks in advance.
So, I have a problem that confuses me.
If I ratchet my FSB from 420 to 430 in minor increments, I can get 430 stable. However, if I increase the FSB beyond 430 and it's not stable, I can't use my stable settings at 430; the computer wont even boot.
Why in the world would a setting that is stable one minute, not be another? I've repeated this multiple times, and I'm thinking it's a BIOS issue?
u can "safely" flash to a UT BIOS from a LT board. On the safe side order from ebayer: biosdepot, some bios chip, the bios chip comes pre-flashed with whatever bios u like
Yes you can thats is what i'm running, but it will not work from teh windows flash as it detects you have a different board. I think the difference in bios is that they don't make the 602 bios for the LT? I jsut used what was recommended here.
Follow this Guide
http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/usbBoot_us.htm
I'm not sure but I had an epox board that was like that before.
Maybe it was a mid week built board, and they just ran out of made in Taiwan stickers. I must have a monday for a friday board...Lots of people seem to have gone from over 500FSB to under 300FSB upon RMA. Whats up with that? Just a different bios or is there that much variety in intel X48 chips?
ok, thanks m8.
will it help oc the Q9550?
I dont know, the stock bios didn't like my 45nm CPU I don't think. So maybe? Most people seem to have luck with newer cpus with this bios. But I will say it does not seem to get the GTL's right for my CPU.
As for the USb Flash, I dunno I followed that guide to a T and made the autoexec file. I didn't have to type anything from dos, it just went right in and flashed the bios as soon as I selected the drive. I used winflash to backup my old bios first of course. What size thumb drive are you using?
yeh i had the same thing with my settings. was stable occt 1hr ,saved it . then increased. failed . reset to stable settings only to find its not stable.
what i did notice was there was a difference in vcore and vnb. during occt test , the volts did seem to vary abit. i suspect that is one reason why.
the other thing is ,u have to look at ur stability testing method . i know 1hour or even 2 hrs stable can crash 2.15 hrs later. or can crash 15 min into testing.
now im using occt just for indication but ill use prime blend at end for better result
maybe like me , ur not really 100% stable at 430fsb.
thats was my experience anyway.
wow , ive done everything to try and reduce my vdimm to less than 2.30v just wont work.
i can reduce any other voltage and play with everything else to some extent without loosing stability , if i touch that 2.30v vdimm. i dies straight away.
stability is so damn dependant on that 2.3v vdimm. kind of :banana::banana::banana:s me cause its 4x1gb of double sided crucials. there not easy to get and i dont want to kill them. but, at the same time i want to keep this clock setting.
not sure what i should do.
what if i gave vnb 1.7+ ? would that help lower vdimm? if it kills the board , i dont care i hate x48 now anyway.but i want my ram.
man you guys have weird boards
the big problem i think is gtl settings its like @ some voltage settings you need different % rate
with my 65nm i could goto 500fsb on auto but with my 45nm i cant use auto for 500fsb
higher the fsb i need lower gtl setting verry weird
got it. sadly, a c1 :(
im about to drop it in.
I'm still waiting for DFI to get 2 4870x2s working on this boards.. not to mention usb is unstable sometime with the 8/20 bios.
I have some BIOS from dfi.com.tw :D
DownloadCode:Dear Sir,

"X38AD827.zip" is missing. The file in the archive is named "utf-8__X38ADB28.zip" and that's an old beta BIOS.
You should remove the e-mail address to prevent spam.
i got my Q9550 to 3.6 @ 1.19v that good?
also, how do you flash the UT bios to LT
The UT and Lthe same except for the cooling...you can use the UT BIOS and flash it the same way you would flash the LT board...I prefer to use the Diamondflash method DFI offers. You could also use Winflash to do it in Windows if you want to do it that way. I have had no issues doing it either way.
I'm making some progress on these C1's
I now have 3200MHZ OC ALL default voltages with just GTL changes.
Vtt 1.100
NB default
Mem Default
CPU Auto (running 1.2v)
Id post GTL's but that is no help, instead I'm going to try to find a range or at least some percentages. Then I will go for 3.6ghz slowly. It might be better to just buy a new MB where I can leave the GTL's on auto and then I only have to worry about voltages, aparently the DFI MB does a terrible job of setting GTL's on auto. Maybe it's just this 602 bios that is terrible. Perhaps what works great for people with C0 steppings is not the best bios for C1's.....But now I'm afraid to flash it and lose all progress....
In what way do they change? I'm going for the % of Vtt. As long as I stick to a good working range of percentages I should be ok right? Or do you mean the percentages of vtt change as well? If that is the case I would be much better off buying a MB that likes C1 stepping CPUs. Or buying an older CPU for the DFI.
i myself have 4 775 boards so pickin the right one not hard
the dfi x38 is a fussy board
the higher fsb i go the lower gtl i need to set
mind you i dumped my x38 and took out my ut p35
if i were you i'd get a p5q series board if you dont find the right mix of gtl
Thanks I will try this later
edit: someone tried the bios and it didn't work
http://www.csd.dficlub.org/forum/sho...&postcount=240
I haven't tried it yet though.
This mobo is very nice, but I still prefer P35 :D:

BIOS 8/20, 1.218v real voltage, VTT = 1.293, NB not sure, 1.405v in BIOS, GTL 83 83 83. I'm running 8GB of the new G.SKILL PowerChip at 556Mhz 5-5-5-18 @ 1.899v confirmed with DMM so far, 4:5 divider and 445FSB, tRD 6. I have lot of tweaking left, have to be finished by tomorrow with the build. Anybody has any tips for "Memory Models" for this kind of memory configuration? Thanks.
im about to buy one of these second hand -Swiftech MCW30 chipset block.
anyone know if it fits the x48t2r ? and does the nb heatsink come off fairly easy for installation?
yah its all good i have one, u only have to cover the center 15-20mm^2
http://i35.tinypic.com/2ps2f03.jpg
and the push pins from teh stock sink come out easy
thanks , i just got it for $30aud not a bad price i think. now i can run two 4870x2 without that damn heatspreader and fan in the way. lol
Thanks ;), quick blend, vDIMM 1.899v (same voltages as before) G.SKILL rated DDR1100:

I know it only few minutes, I will post BIOS shots tomorrow, it takes huge amount of patience to figure out right DS, DSS, Skew, Delays and other settings :). FYI, this is on 8/20 BIOS.
has anyone successfully flashed 820 with winflash? ive tried everything to flash with winflash . doesnt want to work. tried exe and ziped files. both dont work.
whats the trick?
dont want to use floppy . dont have one nor want one.
use awdflash ;)
only the 333/800 strap helps ram use low voltage
i bet if you try those sticks on p35 they will need 2.34v@1200mhz
i think they would last about a year but ram is so cheap so .. lol
i lost so many sets @ 2.24V but that was on gigabut boards
dont go over 1.62v on nb its not needed
well that explains alot. im using 400/1066 strap. ill have to try 333/800 again.
yeh i dont want to kill these sticks so im trying again with new bios.
one strange thing i just noticed is when u save with cmos reloaded , it doesnt save ur fine delay settings. this sux becuase i wrote down my stable fine delay settings and saved with cmos reloaded.
but after reloading its didnt reload the stable fine delay settings? instead it kept the older unstable settings.
and u cant manually set it either , it has to be exact . i tried manually setting to similiar settings, but still no stability.
imo this is a problem becuase without stable fine delay u cant tweak ur ram at all.
I got it to 3.614 on 1.232 volts.
need help getting more out of it.
nb is 1.26
fsb vtt is 1.1

Have any one tryed the new beta bios 829? Any difference of fsb clock etc..?

So i got it to boot and into windows @ 3.9ghz. i had to use 1.47 volts. i dont think this chip will do 4. :(
have been.
no, its not the newest. Im going to update it.
i cant seem to get it past what the cpu-z validation is at. i have pushed some high volts i.e 1.5 and it would boot at 3.9 but wasnt stable into windows.... its sad.
I have to ask this again. To go further I have to play with GTL ref but I dont have any success with it so far.
My settings for moment:
430x10
Vcore: 1.34V
PLL: 1.51V
VTT: 1.25
NB: 1.47V
This means my GTL should be 110, 105, 85, right?
Some one of you use lower or higher values so it is confusing.
If the system seems to be unstable shall I bump up all three or just the core who faild? I hope you understand what I mean. I have to learn.
I have seen many of you run my batch 4.5GHz+ but my goal are 450x10 for 24/7 use. My temps are great so I am not afraid of using more voltage! :)
Are you leaving GTLs default? If so, what bios are you using.
My only stable overclock so far is 3200MHZ on my C1 Q9450 (400FSB)
All default voltages with only GTL tweaks. I'm using the 602 bios still. Without manualy setting the GTL I'm not stable even at 3200 mhz no matter how much voltage I pump. I'm starting to think the 602 bios sucks for C1 steppings?
How the hell did you pull this off? I have same memory, Same MB, similar liquid cooling....I cant get past 400FSB... What stepping is your CPU and what bios please (is it the same E0?) ? I can't boot up with any overclock with GTL's disabled. I'm almost 100% sure that is what is holding me back is a bios that will adjust the GTL's closer to where they need to be. I'm tempted to go buy a new CPU. Everyoen swore up and down how good intel was and crazy overclocks and I can't get mine to clock for :banana::banana::banana:. My highest STABLE overclock is using stock volts! WTF!
nice 8/29 bios have broken my mobo...i see on diagnostic display "10" and stop at 10 error code...nice very nice -________-
and not only for me other peaple have same issues...
10 code error: Auto detec EEPROM Check Flash type and copy flash
write/erase routines to 0F000h segments
Does anyone run 8gb at 1066Mhz on the T2R (DDR2)?
Can you please post your settings?
i am using 729 i think it is. i was going to put the chip in a biosat i45 tomorrow and see if that helps, i got 4 gb of crucial ballistix reds on the way so im going to half rip apart my dads pc and mine and have lot of fun tomorrow.
if his board clocks higher then im stealing it.
I'm still not sure wether to sell the MB or the CPU or both...Time is not on my side right now and although I think this board has alot of potential it all comes down to how much time I want to spend tweeking the GTL's since the bios's auto is so far off from what my CPU needs.
Or just be satisfied with my overclock at all default voltages?
It seems my CPU is NOT Temp Limited, or Voltage Limited, but limited only by requiring strange GTL settings :(
I'd almost call it a bios issue. In fact it makes me wonder if other motherboards that are supposedly "better" just have better auto GTL settings. This is my theory anyways... So you can buy an inferior MB that has better/differt bios that may match your particular CPU's GTL requirements and get better overclocks. Damn you Intel for making this so complex for us overclockers! I hope AMD make a come back soon im tired of these shenan tactics!
How would I Change out the cooling on that board with all the heatpipes...
Seems to me the DFI should clock better under water and Asus with passive crap cooling. Or is this board really that crappy? I already bought a universal MCP NB cooler, so that another $50 loss I have to take using a board I can't change the cooler on. Is there a way to replace teh cooler on the Vregs? If so I could maybe buy that part or something I guess. Can't belive my clocks on wate rare so :banana::banana::banana:ty with intel vs AMDs in the past ESP after all the hype. For the money and time reformatting and setting up all my crazy aps and servers it will cost me to change MB, I almost feel like just keeping what I have and waiting a few years until something better comes along (if it takes that long)...
Oh yea and has anyone got EVEREST running? It Shuts my PC off when I launch it :( I did find this thread so I will try later tongiht.

Shoudl I quit using everest anyone else using everest?
the 7/25 bios did the same thing to me. I stopped use their batch file and flashed it manually and haven't had a problem since... OH DFI doesn't warranty beta bioses so my suggestion to you is buy a new bios chip and you can hot flash the old chip to get it working again and you'll have a backup bios chip. I got my replacement chip here
http://www.biosman.com/
Sorry I'm going to be uber lazy and not read through all 92 pages of this thread :p:
I'm considering a build with a Q9550/9650 (if Core i7 is either too expensive or not amazing enough). Would this board be a nice stable model to get a Yorky up to 4GHz?
Layout is near perfect and I looooove DFI :D
Cheers,

I finally got around to installing my LT x48-t2r and I get nothing, no fans, no power nothing. I do get the standby LED though! but the power button and power sw jumpers get no response. Tried diff CPU & RAM, bought new PSU, tried with/without vga card (4870 X2) but nothing won't give me any signs of life besides that standby LED. Tried insulating board from standoffs using antistatic bag (horizontal mounting) and still same thing. Also tried tightening/loosening mounts on cpu & nb to no avail... So annoying as no retailer in western australia carries these on the shelf so I have to order and wait til Monday :(
Clear CMOs and take Battery out .. turn PSU off ... unplug PSU .. do this all at sametime and then push the power button in a few times.... then put battery back in switch Cmos jumper back .. plug PSU back and see if that works.
Aslo just try one ramm stick for now and find out what slots are the first ones to fill first.
If no go.. try it out of the CASE.
I have had some chips (admittedly all dual core) that need strange GTL settings to get them to run when they are new but later change to relatively normal GTL's as the CPU burns in. Now I'm not exactly saying go murder your chip but rather give it some physical. If I had your chip I would try giving it some voltage a bit of heat & some hard work for a good 1~2 weeks & see if it settles if all else has failed.
CN :)
hey gys,
decided to move my crucials to use with my i45 board. so im looking for a 2x2gb kit of 1066+ ddr2 ram for my ltx48
any opinions on some proven sets that work well with this board? or x48 chipset

opinions?
I just ordered one of these, hope it rocks
