Nice numbers I tried your settings at 1800 with my x3350 cpu. No good for me. I get about 5 secs in memtest before it just freezes. Thx for posting tho.

Bios 1104 from both Asus global and China site fail to install for me. Goes thru checking about 6 or 8 times and then ends without installing. Could they have uploaded a bad file?
I am currently on 1002 and haven't had trouble in the past.
Try downloading it again.
I will try that, but it will be the third time. Once from the Global site, a second time from the china site and I will try the third time from the china site.
Thanks for the pics
What temps do you get on prime95 small FTT? or with Intel test? Just curious to see with your high Cpu voltage & oc
Nice results for your 1600 mem oc'd to 1850, on the other hand your 9-9-9 timings are keeping your read/write/copy from getting higher
i had Prime Temps max. 60°
That is a great temp for that voltage & speed, must be a very good cooling kit.
with my QX9770 at 450x9 4050Mhz 1.42v my FTT & Intelburn temps go as high as CPU 75 Cē cores 68 Cē with the massive sooling setup I use (see my sig), although I also cool NB & 2x BFG GTX280 H2OC in the same loop
I have 2 Metal Pads between CPU and CPU Cooler and i am cooling only CPU and NB with the Mora Pro with 9 Yate Loon Fans, my flow Rate from the Pump was 165L/h.
Anyone cooling the NB with Enzotech CNB-S1 with decent results? or Enzotech CNB-R1?
What about the SB with Enzotech SLF-1?
Thinking about removing heatpipe city. Not able to go to water anytime soon. Looking for alternative chipset cooling suggestions.
Thanks.
Another quick question, I'm using chipset raid 0 and I'm getting raid access errors. I'm using bios 1104, don't know if that has anything to do with it but, it was shortly after I flashed to 1104 that I noticed the problems. Anyone else experience similar problems?
Thanks.
No problems for me with this bios.
Tried the SLF-1 on the SB, it fits OK. The Evercool VC-RE is a better bet IMO, fits just as well:
http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...roducts_id=212
Thanks Tyke. I have a vc-re sitting around somewhere that I was thinking to use for the SB. Still don't know about the NB.
I re-installed Vista and I'm still getting raid access errors.
Think I'll try and install without the raid and see if any other problems come up. Maybe it's my overclock:shrug:
Hi all,
Trying to up the FSB on my QX9650 but having a few probs.
Memory is no problem and processor runs perfectly stable at 3.66 GHZ with tight memory timings at FSB of 1333 and also with memory unlinked at 1600 just by upping the multiplier, but if I try to up the FSB of the CPU above 1390 I get hard lock ups in Vista.
I have tried increasing the CPU voltage right up to 1.39v, I have had VTT up to 1.35, PLL up to 1.6, NB 1.6 SB 1.55 GTL Ref's both + and - values, NB GTL ref again both + and - values and so many combinations of all the above, I have lost track.
I have spent at least two months trying to get this clock increased but without any success.
So for my first question.
What are the known FSB black holes on this mobo.
and is this thread still active?.
I will get a complete list of my HW and settings and post tomorrow.
Thanks and help please...

I believe those raid errors are from the nvidia drivers. After those raid error messages check your drives with the nvidia control panal and the under my computer. If everything is working it may probably be a error message. I had that for a long time. If you are sure it is a driver problem and the drives are functioning well you can disable the message with msconfig. Disable NVRAIDSERVICE.exe. I have read that it is only a monitor program.
It's been sometime from my last post.
My computer still runs 100% all the time, it's on night & day 24/7
:shrug:Slim142 have you made a chose of which is the best bios. I have had no real difference between the two that I can tell. I will wait till this weekend before trying to increase the overclock to see if 1104 is any easier then 901.
Hi Slim
Yes, my fourth board is really stable. Got the water cooling running fine. Played around with the CSX Diablo memory, couldn't get it to run any better at 1800MHz than my Corsair, I think they both have the same Micron Chips. It runs OK at 2000MHz, but memory performance is better linked and synced at 1800MHz. Tried the full 8GB but couldn't even get it stable at 1600MHz, haven't really played around with it though. Using 1104 bios it seems Ok, although I can get ever so slightly better memory sub-timings with earlier bioses. Can't get my QX9770 over 450FSB with any bios!
Glad to see you are still around lending a helping hand!!
Well to be realistic, I havent really tried 1104, but I just got really excited that I had it a day earlier  and changelog wasnt that bad so I thought it might be an improved 0901 (didnt know I could share the BIOS, I will do so from now on  )
I will also try to get a pair of CSX, hopefully 1800Mhz 8-7-6-18 1.9v
Really sad to hear 8gbs wont even run at 1600Mhz, as one day I would really like to fully use 8gbs of RAM :(
Dont tell me you cant get that CPU to 450FSB because you are not helping me at all! I want to run my Q9450 at 475Mhz at least! (maybe you can decrease your multi?)
And thanks for that, Im just trying to make everybody realize is just a couple of changes here and there and you can enjoy one of the best boards ever released :p:
I can get the QX9770 to 450FSB easily, but nothing higher, even if I drop the multiplier. The CSX memory is great value, on a par with Corsair, which was twice the price. 8-7-7-18 at 2T seems to be the best I can get even if I up the voltage, I can get 8-7-6-18 on the Corsair. I agree that this is a great board now that the bioses are stable, just a shame I can't get that FSB any higher :(
Hello Slim / Tyke
I'm also on a dead end with QX9770 FSB at 450, can get it to load Vista at 475but it's not stable with linked/synced. With my actual Striker II (3rd) board I can actually get it to boot lynked/synced at FSB500 /2000 but halfway loading Vista it freezes, no matter how much voltage I feed NB/CPU & I can assure you that I've tried everything, except for GTL values which I'm completely lost with although I would love to know someone who actually get's a better QX9770 OC playing with them & knowing exactly how they affect CPU/FSB (I've read the theory over & over again but I still don't get what GTL values are better/worse for every situation)
I remember I got all excited after reading original Anandtech review with QX9770 500 FSB, also with 8Gb OCZ RAM running at 2000... I just couldn't wait to the same,
I also remember long ago how I told Tyke in Asus forum that I was waitin to receive my QX9770 to run it linked/synced with my Crucial ram at 2000 & he answered something like "good luck..." I didn't believe him... c'mon if I could already oc my previous Q6600 G0 1066FSB to FSB 1950 real easy I was sure that the little jump from 1600 to 2000 was a piece of cake...but nop. I even wrote Anandtech an email asking them about the settings they used to get that OC...no answer
In fact I'm quite dissapointed with the QX9770 FSB thingy but not at all with performance & I do actually have a little envy of the E8600/8400 croud running at crazy FSB's linked/synced. In fact I've ordered a 8600 E0 just to play around with it & see it linked/synced with ram at FSB 500.
At the moment I'm still waiting for CSX to get me a matched set of 8Gb which they said they would as soon as they got some this RAM back in stock. Although it seems that Tyke's experience with it has not been so great. My first try with Diablo3 4Gb kit was not very good, it performed worse, higher timings, needed more DIMM voltage & NBv than my actual 4x1Gb Crucial 2000 kit so I returned it to CSX with the promise on their side of getting me a good 8Gb kit...lets see what happens.
CSX has informed me that when they built the 1st Diablo3 2000 kits they received a really good batch Micron D9 chips that could reach top speed with crazy low timings but last batches & possibly futures ones were not so good & has forced them to raise timings to 9-9-9-24 1.9v for both GTR/GTS 2Gb & 4Gb kits which they have also updated their web info www.csx-memory.com. I'ts kind of dissapointing after all the big fuss made with the first kits. Last news is that now they are out of 4Gb kits & are waiting to receive & new batch for testing
Hey Rodriguez
About the CPUs, well is all about the CPU batch and motherboard batch too. If they are good ones, they will OC fine. However, keep in mind you guys are trying to run Quads at high FSB speeds as well as high speed RAM (4gbs or more) which makes it more complicated.
Good luck with that E8600, hopefully you will get to achieve that speed you looking for.
I also heard about the batches from CSX coming a little more sucky than the first ones. Im sad to hear that as I really wanted to get a pair of Diablo because of that reason, but with prices up in the sky (I still cant say "worth"), things not doing so good in US plus CSX located in Europe only and hard to acquire a kit in north america, it made it difficult for me to get one when I really wanted to. Now, hearing this makes me think about it once again as a RMA would take me weeks.
I really hope ASUS doesnt stop giving BIOS releases for the Striker at least for a good time. It would be good if they could provide us with a little more stable board at high speeds.

Wow looks as if this thread has come to a stop? Hope all is well.
I have an E3110 @ 1800 linked and sync'd almost 24/7 stable. I'll post settings if I ever get it to not freeze.
It will run 100 intel burn test runs but, I get a freeze almost daily crunching WCG.
Well, Im really sorry for the delay, but 90% of this is Bitspower fault with their 2-months-ago promise of releasing the BlackFreezer.
I heard this block should be here next week. Hopefully it will be ready to purchase by then.
Will spam this thread with pictures of my rig
I have a QX9770 which I can just get to 4.5Ghz stable...
My rig is as follows;
Striker 2 Extreme, watercooled Northy
QX9770 watercooled
3 x GTX 280's watercooled on a seperate loop
Lian-Li 343b cube
Corsair dominator DDR3 1800Mhz stock timed at 8-8-8-20
SSD hard drive
X-fi sound card
24" screen
How do you get your CPU over 4.5GHZ? are you using liquid nitrogen? if now I would appreciate any comments on how to push past the 4.5Ghz barrier I'm currently at!
Thanks in advance
Gladly :)
1800Mhz FSB
10x Multiplier
1.9v mem voltage
1.52v Cpu Vcore (actually 1.55 but vdroop = 1.52v)
using corsair dominator rated at 1800Mhz I use 8-8-8-24 and leave the advanced ram timings as are... however I cant post at 2000mhz FSB unless i alter the advanced ram timings so worth mentioning!
Hope this helps! :)
Ok, I must have missed that part about the LN3. I don't see that anywhere. He is saying water in his post
Oops. It is Ufon using Ln2 for 5.13. I went back and looked one more time
Damn, you're using chilled water? My wife will never let me do that. I think I will have to pray for a better bios
look for my Post 4.625GHz with QX9650 under water with Mora Pro

getting my board next week but not sure on what memory to get
split between these 2 sets
Cellshock 2GB PC3-12800C7 Black Edition
- 2GB (2x1GB)
- 1600MHz CL7-7-7-14 @ 1.7-1.9V
- 5 Year Warranty
Corsair 2GB DDR3 DHX 1600C7DHX
- 2GB (2x1GB)
- 1600MHz 7-7-7-20 @ 1.90V
- Lifetime Warranty
i like the corsair for their lifetime Warranty and ive never had a problem with a corsair set ever
but Cellshock have a reputation for high clocking memory and im hoping to get to around 1800Mhz but only has 5 year warranty
all my corsairs have been poor clockers
the prices are pretty much the same for the corsair/cellshock
and i plan to buy 2 sets giving me 4x1GB
thanks
do you really plan on keeping your ram for more than 5 years?
Save some money and go for 2x2Gb of Cell shock.
If you are scare of compatibility, then go for Corsair.
So any new bioses?
Who sells Cell Shock memory in the USA?
TankGuys and memoryc ( ships worldwide )
CellShock didn't release any 2*2GB Kits with D9GTR/D9GTS as far as I know.
If you want to go with CellShock and Micron and 4GB's of RAM, you have to buy 2* 2GB Kits.
I use 4 x 1GB kits with noproblems at all.
The only change I needed to make was NB - 1.52V, I also use 2 different kits.
I have an annoying problem with my slow usb ports. After my last format i installed xp sp2 with all updates but 1 week ago I tried to transfer some data to a flash memory stick but it needed for 4gb-150min.LOL.I tried the other ports but same. The HDD was 90% free and the stick had 8gb capability.I have asus extreme striker ii.Any ideas?please.
Are other usb drives slow too? Maybe try formatting the drive and try the transfer again:shrug:
Enable usb 2.0 in bios...
Got my board yesterday and ive got my cpu stable at 3.6 now i am trying to clock the memory which is OCZ Platinum EB 1600Mhz 7-7-6 2x2GB
the main problem is memtest wont start
it starts at stock speeds of 1066Mhz FSB/Mem
but at 1600/1600 or 1600/1800 it wont start i only get the blue memtest screen but no info?:mad:
NB @ v1.58-1.62
Mem @ v2.0 slack timings of 8-8-8
using memtest off a usb stick
Hi Slim
I got tired of waiting for CSX to get the 4Gb 2000 GTR back in stock to get 8Gb total, I called them up to 4 times & got replied that they didn't have any chips at the moment & didn't know when they would.
I decided to buy 8gb of Patriot Viper 2000 SLI & much to my surprise this memory works GREAT all 8gb at 2000Mhz, actually running it at 1800 8-8-8-27 1.95v linked/synced QX9770 450x9 4.05Ghz, NB 1.60 NB GTL -08mv:)
Last week I also tried 8Gb OCZ 2000 Platinum, 8Gb OCZ 1800 SLI & 8Gb Corsair 2000 but was a no go.
It's actually quite nice to run Vista64 without pagefile, games & such load much quicker than with 4Gb & pagefile.
Hey man
You actually got 8Gbs to work at 2000Mhz with a Quadcore? Thats really good if you ask me.
Hopefully your stocks will tolerate 1.95 because that seems pretty high for me.
To your surprise, I ordered a 4Gb CSX Diablo kit with D9GTS. This was one of the last 5 kits available so hopefully its purchase was worth it!. All Im asking is for 1800Mhz 8-7-6-18 2T :)
The Patriot Viper are rated for 2.0v & can overvolt safely at 2.10. The hard part of running mem at 2000 with a quadcore is run it linked!, as soon as you unlink it you can run it at 2000 provided mem is good & NB can take it. That's why I'm running it at 1800 linked.
Hopefully your CSX willl run great, in the last three weeks CSX had returns (including my kit) of the GTS kits, suddenly making them have memory "in stock" even without recieving their new batch from Micron, which they offered me on the meantime. But what I asked was for was the GTR ones (all the new 4Gb kit they were going to be receving "shortly" were GTR)
OHHHH You're a lucky man I wish I also had known that Kasparz could be contacted for these kits!!!
My desire deep down in my heart was to get CSX 8Gb kit with 8-7-6 timings but I could not wait any longer. Waiting & waiting for computer parts is never a good idea because as soon as you get them something brand new has come out that has left it obsolete.:(
I'm sure I'll get back to CSX as soon as I switch to Nehalem platform for a 6/12Gb git of their RAM. In fact I'm "in love" with Micron D9GTS/GTR (but only good chips:p:), there's nothing like it in terms of compatibility & performance.
On the meantime this 8gb Viper that runs at 2000 all 8Gb!!! (unlinked) is just great also.
Well, is not that he has them in stock, but Im glad I found out he had a couple available, now I will have decent RAM!.
Second paragraph = True
Hopefully we will see Diablo 3/6Gb kits with nice Micron ICs :)
Good luck with your Vipers!
Btw, What is your Reading speed on everest?
Hi guys I am hoping you can help me with my problem. I just finished putting toguether the system in my sig and everything was working great. I was running Memtest on the memory modules (one at a time) and one of the times I hit esc (exit and reboot), my monitor would not turn back on... For some reason when I connect the DVI cable to the GPU it goes automatically to Power Save mode??? It stays on with the DVI disconnnected posting the "no signal" message, as soon as I connect it to the Video Card it shuts down (so I know is not a problem with the monitor. I also connected my PSP to the monitor and it's working fine). There are no error messages on the LCD Poster and it even shows the "en setup" message when you press del in between the POST messages (that would take me to the BIOS). Do you guys have any idea what could the problem be and how to fix it? Thanks in advance for the help.
And now it is giving me "error message" with 4 beeps right after the "Detect IDE" on the LCD poster. I have nothing connected through IDE in my computer though...
I tried with only one video card at a time on all different slots and the same thing is happening. One thing I noticed that is happening now that it wasn't before is as soon as I power up the PSU, The ROG logo lights up. Before, in order for it to light up I would have to press the power button first. I also checked the Asus Website and there are quite a few people with the same problem which would indicate it's definately the board. Any other suggestions?
Just updated from an e8400 to QX9650, also update NB/SB waterblock with air cooled Mosfets. Computer stops the boot at INIT8042. What is INIT8042 referring to and how does one solve this problem?
Thanks to all that respond.
Turned off power supply, removed memory held clear cmos button for one minute. Did not help. If it stops at INIT8042 if I understand this correctly then the problem is with the next item which is enable keyboard?
I tried clear CMOS 3 different ways (pressing the button, moving the memory RTC jumper and taking the battery out) and still no luck. What gets me is that it was working. Slim, you have any ideas? I am all out and I'll probably just RMA it tomorrow.
Turn off power supply
remove power cable (from psu)
remove all but one RAM stick
Clear cmos, just press it and release it, dont hold it
put back psu cable
turn on and check
If that doesnt work, try using the RAM stick in the very last slot (white away from CPU)
Thanks Slim142 :), I have pulled all hardware except CPU, It did get past CPU INIT. I removed the battery, cleared CMOS and will let it sit a while. I need a mental break for a while . I will get back with it later.
Hello!!
I want to buy a kit of 2x2Gb ram..
What is the best and stable, without problems kit, for striker extreme 2??
Thnx.
Thanks for trying to help Slim. I am just going to RMA the board. I'll probably get it back in a month.
RMA should fix all your problems
Make sure to list every one in a piece of paper when you send it to ASUS ;)
For all CSX owners
Something weird is happening to me.
I just got my CSX Diablo 4Gbs kit (Thanks Kasparz) and it is Linpack stable [100 times, 1850Mbs of RAM (computer only sees 2.50Gbs)] and Memtest 3.8 stable 130% (running 4 at the time each of 565Mbs). However, when I run Memtest86+ 2.01 (bootable from DOS) it gives me error on Test#3 and sometimes Test#4 even on relaxed latencies @ 1333Mhz.
Right now is on 7-7-7-18 2T 1600Mhz Trc:30 / NBv1.44 (1.47 Real) vDimm 1.84 (1.90 real)
So far, the computer runs fine and I have no freezes, BSoDs, crashes, or problems with anything. Im starting to think Memtest86+ is not a reliable utility to use anymore? (As many of you know, Linpack stresses the heck out of the PC and Memtest is full RAM). I just downloaded OCCT to try it (first time) and check.
What do you all think?
Could it be because of the vdimm drop? I noticed my vdimm is most of the time at 1.90, but drops to 1.89 sometimes. I dont know if this is a big problem.
Anyways, my G.Skills didnt last more than 3 months with 1.86 (1.92 real) so thats why Im using 1.84 (1.90 real) for now, but I will try that anyways. Thanks
Well it all depends on the load. The overvolt can be as much as 0.06 (by a really small amount of time, normally is 0.04)
So weird, I just finished playing COD5 after an hour and no problems. I also ran Memtest86+ 2.01 Test#5 and it passed it 16 times (Ran 48 minutes).
As long as everything works like it should Im happy :D
Cant wait to finish my WC to start adding volts to that NB and overclock my PC!!!
New Bios surfacing on Asus Forums. :) Time for slim142 to decide which bios he likes best. He still is undecided on 901 or 1104  or  ?
BIOS 1202
I have called Asus Support and Bios 1202 only have Enhance compatibility with certain Memory Modules. I have updated from 1104 Bios to 1202 and it works also fine with my System as the 1104 Bios.
Haha, thats because I havent tried 1104 yet  as I have no need to do so for the moment. My wc project is taking long time, but Im spending some good money on it to make sure it lasts  and works good of course
Thats good to hear, gives me more BIOS files to try as soon as I start overclocking again
Hey guys,
Quick question, Im chasing 4 Ghz on this board with a Q9550, to get this i have to run 470 Mhz FSB and the only way to boot at the FSB is with 1.64V NB.
Im on air atm but watercooling should arrive soon, if i can keep temps down, is that still too high a voltage? Can i cause damage?
Thanks
 There are plenty of folks running the NB at 1.6V, I have not seen many over that however. What temperature are you getting on the NB with that kind of voltage, what would be the key to protecting the NB. I have heard that you do not want to get the NB temperature above 65 degrees.
I too recently got a QX9650, start to overclock yesterday. I got to 3.6 and the temperatures on my 1st core of the CPU were hitting 65 degrees under OCCT. I have down started to begin the process of fine tuning the voltages dropping them until I lose stability. Could you share your BIOS setting that have allow you to get to 4G. That is what I am hoping for as well.
I might have to fall back onto this board soon because I'm sending in my eVGA 790i FTW Digital for the new eVGA X58 Board as soon as it comes out. So we will see how well my new(RMAd) Striker II Extreme does compared to my FTW Digital...
This is a nice board. But I wouldn't spend the money on it.
oh there is benefits, rock hard volts. My volts on my FTW digital barely move 0.001 when under load and not. But the new eVGA x58 has 1057Khz PWM, Where the eVGA FTW digital has 800Khz PWM. So I'm not losing anything by the upgrade ^_^. I'm guess The S2E has 500-650Khz PWM. And It's only 8 phase =/. The Better Phase/Khz PWM, The better volts.
Well, the FTW Digital came out well after the S2E so there is no excuse :D
Not that Im trying to be on ASUS side, but Im just posting the facts :D
Btw, Warboy, I hope we can share some more experiences after you get your RMAed board and I get my WC ready :D
