Sorry to hear that. Maybe it is time to think about the i5/i7 1156/1366 platforms? I've recently been considering making that move myself.

I just replaced my E2180 with an E8400 over the weekend.

my E8400 has a VID of 1.2500V E0 steeping. not a bad chip with do 4GHZ at 1.395V 4.2GHZ at 1.4250V I like it but wish it was a tad better.
Not bad Isira 4.3 for 1.416 V
Have to share this, it's insane - I struck gold :D
E8200 4.5GHz benchable below 1.4v at 563x8 lol - much better than my E8500 E0 was
Spi 1M 10.3 seconds

EDIT: Tried 588x8 but it crashed at desktop, however I was able to get 575x8 benched, 1.45v in bios (possibly higher than required)
PL 12 cripples memory bandwidth but it's still a nice screen :D

Hey Guys
My E8500 E0 FPO/BATCH Q22A596 (BOX - 1.26V max)
VID Coretemp - 1.25v
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/1395/e8500rf.jpg
4Ghz - Vcore 1.272
Maximus Formula @ RF
I guess much high vcore not a good batch =[
My 8500 E0 takes quite a bit of volts for 4.5GHz, on load it was about 1.44v (set to 1.45v in BIOS).
Really wish I'd kept my E8500 E0 - it would probably have done 4.5 below 1.4v (I had it at 4.4 with 1.352).
Has anyone had any experiences with the E8600?
Hi, new here. Just want to show you a OC I did on air http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=958902
I bought this E8400 chip from YMAA a while back (bottom of page 199 of this post).
E8400 E0, batch Q826A399, week 08/13/08
Didn't get around playing around with it for a while, but I can see why he runs on water - this chip is quite a hothead!
Don't think I'll go any higher than 4.5ghz on air as the temps in the pic are with a TRUE!
I know he got 4.6-4.7ghz stable F@H but I'm on air.
Nice Everest scores when paired with 2x2gb G.Skill DDR2 1200's, huh?

Excellent chip
I miss my UD3P + E8600 + G.Skill 9600's :(
What would you guys go for now a e8400 or a Q9300? Is the extra cache a winner or the extra cores going to win in new games? 2 years ago everyone was talking about futureproofing vs. gaming ect ect but it's now so I want to know. Also if you guys have upgraded since how big of an inprovement have you seen with your new rig over one of these?
I went from an E8400 to a Q9550. It's a :banana::banana::banana::banana: to overclock, but BC2 is much smoother. I would go quad, especially since the Q9300's so cheap now...microcenter anyway. Here's a couple screenies from BC2. Notice the GPU usage increase once the game gets some more cores to play with. :D

Well I'm not benching it's pretty much for gaming.
How much does the lack of cache in the Q9300 kinda hold it back vs. a e8400/e8500 in gaming? Cause Either way the dual is gonna OC better I'm sure. 7.5 multiplier in the Q9300 :/
I have a Abit IP35 Pro to put it in if that makes a difference to you guys.

that's a good overclock but noone is going to care about it now
I still care about a solid score even if the hardware is sub, the card bandwidth is retarded. Nice job.
