Hiya neighbor!
Guys! I have problems with my PC. The problem is with my Maximus Formula, I think. So, I`ll try to describe my problem. (Sorry for my bad English)
You can see my configuration at the signature.
When I use ICQ and see "smiles", I hear strange sounds from my PC. Something sounds synchronously with any animation of smile. Any smile "plays" and there are sounds in keeping time with this "playing".
Also, when i scroll IE page, I hear that sounds again.
When I start any game, i hear sounds again, but they are quite.
When I watch video, the same situation.
The first thought was that the problem is with my videocard. I tried to switch off the additional 6pin connector from my videocard but videocard couldn`t work. So, I took my friend`s 8800 GT card and set it up with additional 6pin connector====> still fu..ing sounds. Then I tried to switch off the additional power from 8800 GT and it started work without it. And sounds disapeared!!! At that time, i had my 400W power suppy which I bought with my TT Xaser VI. And I thought that the problem is with my bad power supply(bad and not stable voltage)
After that, I had run to the shop and bought Seasonic M12-700 power supply. I set it up in hope that the problem will be fixed...but...useless...........
Guys, my motherboard is new. This problem had occurred as soon as i turned it on.
Please, if you have any ideas, help me please... thank you guys...
Might be an incompatability between mobo/soundcard combo and the 8800GT you have... a friend of mine did also have weird sound probs and swapping the vidcard helped him ( same type though )
Tried a bios update ?
Ah now I get it, could be a bad capacitor, coil,... did you test the mobo outside the case ?
My P5E does this also - but then so did my GA-P35-DS4 - my quad overclocked dosent help i would think
Anyone running Crossfire?
What cards are you running and what kinda of 3dmark scores are you getting with them?
I have a 3870X2 ( still waiting for a water block ) so I can use it. But I can trade it for a crossfire deal and some other things, was wondering what the general opinion was on ATI Crossfire.
i run crossfire, 2 2900pros 512bit/512mb
22k in 3dmark06, 200+ fps average call of duty 4 w/ aa af off and rest set to max.
overall, im fairly happy w/ my cards.
Only got to 19678 so far with my cards [near enough to stock overclocks on the cards though]
In the BIOS, where is the setting that determines what temperature it auto shuts down at? I'd like to disable the motherboard from automatically shutting down when it gets too hot.
Thanks for the input guys
So what would be your opinion on a 3870X2 vs HD3870 crossfire?
My trade option is 2 Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 3870 Toxic 512MB and cash for 1 Asus EAH 3870X2 1GB
Stick with my current X2 or go for the trade?
I would just stick with the 3870X2 unless you have some water blocks for those cards.....the two card solution will OC like crazy on water with some voltage.....just look at mine. 200 MHz OC on the core isn't anything to sneeze at......24/7 rock solid gaming stable.
Today my board finally died, tried everything... I'm going to RMA my board, any body know the best way?
I've got crossfire 2 x 3870x2 @ a mild oc of 875 x 955. Besides the fan noise no probs. Since your considering water, then the noise wont be an issue for you.My first score all (GPU&CPU) at stock was 17878 3DMarksThese cards have got a lot more in them, I just had to wait until I picked my new ram (took your advice and went with the Dominator Twin2X4096-8500C5DF 4GB). Will post results soon, and update my sig.
One more happy camper running 8GB on his Maximus!! :D

I just installed my second 4GB kit, and all sticks were good.
My saved 3.6GHz and 3.8GHz profiles worked as is.
So far, but that is all the faster I usually run my system. :)
I think I am just a 3.8GHz guy!
