Using an e8400 here, why is it that in cpuz the core clock jumps from 1998.0mhz to 2997.0mhz while the multiplier jumps from 6x to 9x @ 333mhz fsb. Is it suposed to be doing this?
thanks.
Thats because you have the power saving thingys on. Therefore when the CPU is idle it reduces the multi to 6 to save power and when its under load it increases it to 9.
They are called
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)
C2/C2E State Support
x C4/C4E State Support
CPU EIST Function
(Thats what they are in my BIOS, I don't know about yours)
MaByBoI,here you guy diable these in bios.edit-fatguy got there first
Limit CPUID Max to 3............................[ Disabled ]
No-Execute memory Protect.......................[ Disabled ]
CPU Enhance Halt (CIE)..........................[ Disabled ]
C2/C2E State Support............................[ Disabled ]
C4/C4E State Support............................[ Disabled ]
CPU Thermal Monitor.............................[ Disabled ]
CPU EIST Function...............................[ Disabled ]
Virtualization Technology.......................[ Disabled ]
will this effect my overall performance? or is it going to result in being the exact same?
it will keep your processor from dropping in speed and voltages while idle.if you run it ar 3.9ghz when idle it stays 3.9
Hi guys. Just received a new E8400 revision E0 FPO/Batch Q839A219. Is this a good batch? Please share u'r results.
DFI DK X48 T2RSB Plus $159 or
DFI LP LT X48-T2R $189
I have 2 4870 512MBs, that is why I am considering a x48 to crossfire. :)
or any other boards?
Thank you
well my new E8400 EO Q843A771 vid 1.23 is turning out to be a very good chip.
heres 9x473@4257 w/1.23v

Ooo very nice Radaja  So u had to sell that E3110?
yep i did and i wished i hadnt,but i needed money.but now its all good,was lucky enough to get a better cpu.thank you god:D
Oh well, still thats a awesome CPU you have now
yea.even though the Xeon had a much lower vid 1.16 it neede 1.39 to do 9x500@4500. this new one only needs 1.32v to do 9x500@4500
Very nice  I wish I had that CPU under my phase change :p:
i wish i had your phase change on my cpu
im going to have go WC for sure now, otherwise it wouldnt be fair to
this cpu.:D
I was going to get WC, but it would cost $700 to $800 for a high end setup, my phase change only cost $1070. So for an extra $300 I get -50C temps, instead of 50C :p:
that seems pretty steep for WC.im just going to get the 240$ kit from swiftech.
this is just an amazing cpu.9x458@4124 w/stock vcore 1.237v bios/1.216 cpuz load.:D:D

and 9x500@4500 w/1.32v cpuz load :D :D :D

and 9x514@4626 w/1.34v cpuz load

Have an e8400 that I got last year, ordered it shortly after they came out. Ran it at 4.05ghz for well over a year using LLC on a P5K Deluxe board.. Got a quad and a new motherboard earlier this year and had put it away until last week, was bored one night so I thought I would try it again using the Gigabyte board. No signs of degrading after 1yr+ using LLC and countless hour of Prime, IBT, and LinX. I think these chips are a lot harder to damage than some believe. You can see the date in Orthos, 1/23/08 in the first ss. The second ss was a LinX run I did last week in the EP45 UD3P board well over a year later.
BTW that's an awesome 8400 you got there radaja. 4.5ghz-1.328v:up:
How does the newest batches clock?
well i cant speak to all newest batches or E8500-E8600's,but my new E8400 EO, OC's real well.
batch Q843A771 vid 1.237 bought it from newegg 3 1/2 weeks ago
just look in my sig,4500 w/1.32v is pretty good in my book.
