had my cpu running 1.408V 512x9 for several months now 24/7....just bought a q9450 and will most likely be selling this chip so I decided to do some lower voltage prime runs to help it sell, and I'm pleasantly surprised!

i just picked up a e8400 i guess its an es. my last wolfdale was a e3110 that i had @ 4.1. so hopefully i can now get higher than 3.6. crappy e6600.

its a Q739A

thats for a q6600 . i ran these setting for 1850 on my old q6600 they should get a e8x00 to 1800

(These will vary based on your chips' VID and stepping)

Other voltages:

(All set manually do not leave them on auto)

CPU FSB: 1.4v

Memory: To whatever your ram needs

Nforce SPP: 1.4v

Nforce MCP: 1.525v

HT Nforce SPP: 1.25V

FSB/Memory:

Set Memory clock mode to Linked & Synchronous

FSB/QDR: Set to 1600 (400 FSB)

For cpu multiplier, for 3.2 to 8x, for 3.6 to 9x.

Leave Memory speed at 800mhz

Memory Timings:

4-4-4-8

1T

System Monitor:

Dynamic Fan Control set to Manual

PNP/PCI:

Set initial display to PCIEx (default is PCI)

Integrated Peripherals:

Turn off Onchip IDE Channel 0

MAC Config Turn off MAC01

IEEE Controller to disable

HD Audio to Disable

Onboard FDC Controller to Disable

Serial port to Disable

Please note these settings reflect my own setup and preferences.

Fankr you have the same ram i do just rebranded "8000" change your tras cycle time to 65, the Auto setting doesnt work well for this memory. Change the FSB strap to 333mhz, you dont need 2.10v for your memory at such low overclocks. Keep all those settings you have on disabled on Auto except Cpu spread sprectrum. I found turning them on disable like that hamperd my overclocks. You also most certantly do not need 1.26VFSB for 3.8ghz. Stop listening to these people.

You most likely have a bad batch CO, check the first page you will notice most older e8400's dont go beyond 4ghz if at all even using 1.37vcore.

Mrbungle, stock speeds the cpu is always cold.. Try upping to 4ghz and you'll be amazed how much hotter the thing gets lol

See iv gone to 1.20v to test and stuff, like for me my maximum overclock is 4400mhz 489x9, with 1.36-1.37vcore and 1.22vfsb. The problem with that is i can also do 4200mhz 1.28vcore 1.10vfsb. I play Warhammer online and all i do is pvp and the game is really cpu intense, on large pvp battles i have to turn the graphics down so iv been thinking maybe i should overclock to my maximum but im afraid to use those voltages 24/7. Since the game doesnt have a benchmark im not sure if 33fsb and 200mhz will even give me a fps increase

I have not seen an intel data sheet ever state not to go over 1.14v Vtt. If you look at the intel e8000 series data sheet, it clearly states for 3 series (P35 etc) chipsets a Vtt of 1.10v should be used with a max of 1.155v. However on 4 series (P45/X48) intel states Vtt of 1.20v should be used, with a max of 1.26v. Staying within those voltage ranges is completely safe, I'm not sure why you thought any differently.

I've been using 1.37v VTT 7/24 and didn't found any issues...

currently 7.5x600 4.5Ghz @1.375v BIOS, E8500...;)

i dont know what is up with this board?

cpu is running @ -40c and i cant even get 3.8ghz to be stable?!?! this is my 2nd cpu frist was a cheap e5400 that wouldnt break 3.6ghz and now this E8500...what gives

Lowering Vcore a bit now @ 1.22V after the Vdrop , my C0 went as low as 1.36V :D , too bad that the P31-DS3l holds me

I bought it thinking for 9X400 as my PC6400 CL6 ram will hold me :D , cant blame 36$ ram kit and 65$ board

nope. i cant. i only paid 65 bucks for my e8400 30 for my ram and 50 for my board. i already had my water cooling.

hes got speedstep or ce1 turned on in the bios which drops the multi down to X6 when theres no load on the cpu

and what about the first screen were the OP says 4GHZ , Core temp says 4GHZ , CPUz says 3.78GHZ , still the 3D mark 06 CPU score is exactly where it should be for a 4.8GHZ CPU

Cpuz does not read the .5 multi :up: As you can see it only reads 9x multi.
