lawry, will your custom bios work with my q6700?
Yes, please test it :)
edit: now THAT was a quick reply lol. 1 Min o.O
I will replace my current Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherbord, OCZ 2GB PC2-4200 RAM and Intel E6700 processor, with a new Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard, OCZ 2GB PC2-5400 RAM and an Intel E6850 CPU.
If my new motherboard doesn't have the 2103 bios installed by Asus, can I bootup my system with my Intel E6850 processor to flash the bios with Alt+F2 method?
Second question, does anyone have a changelog of the revisions of the Asus P5W DH Delxue motherboard?
Revision 1.04G is the latest one?
FWIW I managed to boot and update the BIOS when installing a Q6600 on a new P5W just this week. I got the micro-code error, but it posted and allowed me into BIOS. EZ Flash didn't work, but Alt-F2 did the trick. I was relieved as I didn't have another socket 775 CPU kicking around if it hadn't worked.
By the way, I'm still having this annoying problem that I havent found a fix for yet...
My P5W refuses to boot with 8x multi. It will boot fine at 9x400, but refuse at 8x400 or even 8x266 for that matter. I had this problem in 1707 bios, and I still have it with 2004. Does anyone know what causes this? :/
Just ordered my Q6600 G0, should have it tuesday. AWESOME! :D
It'll be a sh*t clocker though, always is. I'll be ready for needing 1.5v for 3Ghz or something
nice to see you take the plunge lawry, it'll be interesting to see what fsb the go stepping quads reach on the p5w , where did you get it from scan
Does anybody know if this motherboard will support 45nm cpu in the future?
Nah Eclipse. See the other thread. £165 inc VAT.
I wanted to use Scan but I don't know how long they'll be and since I'm going away soon, I wanted to get it before I went.
This thread, makes P5W DH a better board
me too getting a Q6600 G0 in a week or so.. looking forward to your results Lawrywild.
Finally, I am getting Q6600 G0 from the States, next week. Before I swap processors I need to upgrade bios. Which one you guys recommend 2206 or 2004 Lawrywild's mod? Has anybody any experience with this mobo and Q6600 G0?
I'm not going near 2205 or 2206, I'll test my 2004 and then 2103.
how the hell do i flash my bios. back to original. if i dont have a floppy drive??
c
USB flash drive. Make it bootable, put ms-dos files on, put afudos and bios on. Boot to it and voila.
If i am going to buy Q6600 is there possiblity that i will get the G0 ? how will i know which rev is it if i am going to the computer store, i could tell him to replace it with other if its not that, and they have computer there with internet so i could check the Serial number or anything else.
if you could tell me what to look for so i'll have some idea whatever its B3 or G0
i almost forgot the 2nd question, should i update to 2206 , i will must anyway if its G0, but if its not i dont want this beta to mess up stuff.
so its like if or if, should or should, because if they dont have the G0 at all i wont have the upgrade, but if they do i will need to check it so i will make sure i have to update. please inlight me m8s :D
thanx
Look for SLACR on the box, rather than SL9UM which is B3.
You can use my modded 2004 bios, 2103, 2205 or 2206. Your choice.
Yep, blind as a bat.... LOL
