Here is a shot at 2.8ghz with only 1.375 volts stable :woot: .

WOW daender VERY nice! Try more volts?
Has anyone killed one of these things with volts? Every chip I get LOVES voltage and this looks to be no exception but it's for my daily rig and I can't afford to replace it so I haven't gone over 1.6v after remembering someone kill a DC opty at 1.75v or something?
Very nice.. takes me 1.4 for 2.8 GHz...Quote:

Why can't 49 be right? There are plenty of dual optys with a 49 tcase.
Here's mine:

it's just that i've seen single core ones 50C and above so seemed a bit lowQuote:

my 180 optie is 49c in that maxcast program. i thought it was a bit low when i seen it but it has no effect on the over clock so i havent worried about it since...

guys ive tried bios 704 2bt 704 2bta and the new 11/14 relese and all three reconise my optie 180 as a optie 280? this is wierd anyone else have this problem? thx
daender
yup you got a good stepping same one as mine and i can dual prime at 2760mhz using the chips defualt v-core of 1.31v (atleast thats what cpu-z shows its set to auto in the bios) and so far im stable dual prime at 3gigs 1.45v and climbing... hope yours shows the same potentail as you raise the v-core...
peace perc,
would an opteron 170 with the steping CCBWE 0534SPMW be worth it, or should i test my luck and buy one from mwave or newegg?
subzero, why are you using 8x multi, you are forcing yourself to use a higher fsb than necessary. 9x300 will give you 2.7ghz. also, ldt multiplier is not the same thing as the cpu multiplier. the cpu multiplier determines cpu speed, ie 9x300=2700. the ldt multiplier determines the speed of the hypertransport bus, which is rated for 1000mhz. going over 1000mhz will most likely cause instability. some people get away with going a little over (my dfi can do 260x4) but if you are having problems then you should lower the multiplier to eliminate hypertransport as a possible cause. ie, if you are doing 300x9, then then use 300x3 for ldt.

Will be in a week, but still a lot of time to wait :cool:Quote:

peace perc,
excellent, thanks bud, I always look at that instead of the bandwidth itself. I have 3 cpus and that an32 just isn't getting here fast enuff.........Also, Dinos, the CF board I had, it showed temps really low too, I think the probe is off by at least 10c. Might wanna give it that buffer, don't wanna end up with a fried chip. Guess u could always stick a prob on the IHS or core.
I've got my Opty 175 stable @ 2.6GHz now. Running 5/6 memory divider and (gulp) 1.55V. Max. temp thus far has been 50 degrees C, but that was a worst-case-scenario 2x Prime 95 small FFT torture test. She's been running @ 2.6GHz for over 24 hours now with nary a hiccup, and running 2x F@H WUs the entire time. 2x SPI 32M stable as well.

i would like to know this too...Quote:

peace perc,
I'm thinking about buying a 175 in a couple of weeks.... or maybe a 180... What the good stepping for the 180? I will have the funds for it, so I was thinking that I would likely achieve a higher OC with the 180, but is that the case? Is it worth the extra $? I've skimmed this thread and didn't see too much on the 180... Perc, how is yours treating you?
mines ok but i wouldnt buy it again infact i may buy a 170 and try that if i can get the same over clocks id probly sell the 180 to recoupe a little cash. kinda sucks having 650-700 into a cpu when a 400 dollar cpu would bring me the same clocks...
peace perc,
Yeah I did that when the X2's were released. Bought a 4800+ and then got smacked around by everyone with a 4400+. Now my 170's are smoking the 4800+ as well..........
wow - ok - this is good to know. Guess you end up paying about 3 bills more for a better multiplier then. hrm... I'm going to keep reading up on the 170 and 175 before I buy anything... Thx for the heads up!
I have Opteron 170
CCBWE 0530TPMW
It does 2.8ghz with 1.5v, prime stable
Super pi capable upto 2.95ghz
Wont boot over 3ghz
Huge problem on dfi nf4 ultra with pwm temps, without active cooling the board probably would fry. I have seen it reaching 80c and freeze. Anyways I done with dfi I and I will be getting new asus board once it becomes available.
