Tracers are out everywhere, Pricewatch will tell you that. The new Ballistix Z503's are only $165 a piece a newegg at the moment, I'd grab those.

gonna get 2 gigs soon but was wondering if any of you guys have bought 2 identical (non matched) 1 gig sticks and had any problems running them in dual channel... Also do you guys think it's better to spend more on a matched pair than not?

isnt the mushkin faster due to the cas 2.5 even at lower speeds verse much herer speeds of the crucial cas 3? i mean look, compare say this to this.

the first one was at 2.5-3-3-6 and the other was at 3-3-3-8. the mushkin (cas 2.5 pic) was pi 32m at 27m 2s at 80mhz LOWER clock speed than the crucial (cas 3 pic) which scored super pi 32m at 27m 6s

i know its not much, but thats 2.5-3-3-6 at only 262mhz vs 3-3-3-8 at 270mhz....

My 4800+ also has a much harder time with top HTT than my FX55 did in the same board. I think the X2's memory controllers have a slightly lower limit than the single core cpus. I used to be able to run 2.5-3-3 at 300 with the FX55, but had to go 2.5-4-3 with the X2's when running TCCD at 300htt and above. So most likely the same effect is being felt with the Microns. After 290 it will run windows fine , but no 32M completion.

Nope, my new sticks seem to scale with voltage...they're the new Z503s.

I think I'm having the same problem...X2s certainly have funky memory characteristics (low BW, lower HTT with high multi, etc.).....

Nah, I'm done gunning for 300....just trying to find a 24/7 setup that uses less than 3.0V....my processor tops out at an awful 2.8GHz (that in itself is good...but it means the memory won't be at full performance).

Same problem here, I've settled for 11x258 with 2.6v my memory controller is crapping out above 270mhz with 10x multi. Hopeing the X2 3800+ I ordered will work with 280mhz at 10x

You could pull 2.6 up to 2.8 if you wanted with no ill effects if it helped.

My sticks test good in memtest up to 295mhz and can run 2t up to 290 even with 10x multi in windows. I'm 100% sure its just my memory controller since I can do 285 with 9x multi.

I've found that you don't really need any thing more than 2.85v to max these sticks out, upping the Vdimm did nothing for me including enabling the use of tighter timings.

Both Mwave and Newegg have the X2 3800+ in stock, ordered one today and has already been shipped from Mwave (only took about 2 hours to get my tracking number after I placed order ! :D ) I beleive they both also stock the Muskin

I see alot of reports that with the crucial 2g setup that everything works fine incl. Prime 95, games, etc. even over 300htt, except Super PI. I wonder why?

Good luck! I'm only gettin 2600 10*260 stable out of my 4200. Maybe water will help

Thanks and good luck with the 3800. On extremeoverclocking, a guy reached 2.8ghz stable (air, 1.6v, 44load and no IHS) and 3.0ghz cpu-z shot :slobber: , not sure if stable @ 3.0 though.

Let's just hope they all OC like that :D

I'm gonna have to wait until the 3800 gets down close to the MSRP though, still have $1000 worth of stuff to buy after the CPU and memory for this new comp so I have to keep costs down :(
