An error with installing the suite or to run a particular util in the suite ? The one for the Sabretooth and vanilla board worked fine here (all grabbed from asus webbie, never utilise the CD )
Installing error. I just reinstalled RIVE last night, grabbed all the drivers and utils from ASUS site and everything installs fine except ASUS Suite II.
I have here a P979X WS mobo that when I put this PCE-N10 wireless card into it I can not get the system to boot. The windows logo will appear and then just hang indefinitely. Pull the wireless card out and the system boots and operates normally.
I have tried this wireless card in two other systems and it works flawlessly. I have tried it in every slot on the mobo with no success. I have tried a graphics card in every slot and the graphics card works in every slot. Just not this wireless card.
Any ideas? Incompatibility? Bios setting? I have updated to the latest bios.
It takes a long time this way, but I installed the Suite just one or two tools at a time. I found that Fan Expert and Probe II were giving me a problem if I installed all the tools at the same time. Installing each tool seperately for me did the trick. It's a PIA but it helped. I find that EVO Turbo, Digi Power, AI Charger, and USB 3.0 Boost to all work well and are very useful for me. EPU, Fan Expert, and Sensor Recorded were all problematic, so I did not install them the second time around. Probe II worked fine when installed individually.
I tried Probe II alone and got the same problem but I can try the others separately. I re DLed and unzipped as well to ensure something didnt screw up in the DL. I wanted to avoid it but I might have to install the pre release versions I have on my install disk.
Grabbed the AI Suite myself last night and tried with my Sabertooth - flashed up to most recent BIOS. All is well. Hopefully you don't have another system instability causing issues....
System is fine, I installed everything else without issue. I ended up going back to the version on my pre launch install disk. Outdated but still works.
We stil have no improvements passed from R4E to Sabortooth BIOS? 3 months w/o update, find it hard to believe.
I'm looking for some info on how this feature works before I go buy the drives. I am thinking about creating a EZ Backup setup with 2 x 3TB drives to store data from several external USB drives laying around.
1) Besides enabling the controller and installing the Marvell 9128 driver, does the OPROM need to be enabled as well?
2) If anyone has this configured, do you see the actual hard drive like it's natively attached vs. in a raid set? The Acronis backup software I use needs to verify a specific vendors drive is attached.
3) Does EZ Backup support GPT since these are 3TB drives? or do I need to drop down to 2TB disks?
4) Is the Marvell chip doing all the work or is there another chip involved, like a Silicon Image storage processor used in other Drive Xpert boards?
5) Is there any indication when a drive fails? Not much good if I don't know when I lost a drive.
I am already using an IRST raid set for my normal data storage, and would prefer to keep this data separately managed.
Thanks!
OK, I have developed an issue with my X79 pro. The board was running normally since I got it, and it was on the 802 BIOS that it came with. I had downloaded the 906 when it first came out, but never got around to it until last week. I noticed a couple issues since upgrading that the system was locked up some time after the monitors went blank (power save).
Yesterday I pulled my watercooled 6970's out of the system (one is sold and replacing both with a 7970 or two). As a temporary solution I was going to stick a Radeon 4350 in the system, but I could never get a VGA signal off of it. I thought it might be an incompatibility between the card and motherboard, as I took the card back out and put it in another system and it works just fine. The 4350 is a passively cooled card with no PCIe power connectors required.
Today I received the 7970 I ordered and tried to install it, but I get the same thing. I tried all the PCIe 16x slots in the system and still no signal. I have it seated firmly in the slot and the locks had flipped closed. I know the PCIe cables are secure, but I did notice that the VGA_LED light flashes briefly and then goes off.
Any thoughts?
Heh, glad you figured it out :)
lol, you're not the only one. I was really worried when I wasn't even gettig a POST code on the debug LED.
Any thoughts on what may have changed in the BIOS revisions that could cause the blank screen lockups? Seemed like the USB might gone, too, as the DPI light on my mouse and the LCD screen on my Logitech G15 keyboard were off.
Is the system at complete stock or OC'd in any way (DRAM speed over DDR3-1600 etc)??
Currently running stock on everything with the 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600's running at Auto except for changing the speed to 1600. I think the only other thing I changed in the BIOS was to automatically load the Advanced setup and to enable the raid for the SATA 6G ports.
Now that I have the new card installed I want to try to let things settle a little, then I'll start testing to see if I can replroduce the issues I was having. I don't recall setting any other BIOS timings, etc in the 802 version BIOS that might be missing now that I went to the 906.
Thanks for your help ;)
Updated AI Suite for the X79 Sabertooth is due to go up in the next 24 hours or so on this URL:

Any info whether we might get the new memory profiles used here for the R4E? Samsung 4x4 might be interesting for some Corsair 2133MHz C9 users.
Any new updates for Asus P9X79-WS ?
Bios and drivers is from Year 2011
I'd really like to see some more memory profile support. 1101 and 1202 giving me more grief than improvement over 1005
Most DIMMs can be maxxed out using the Max MHz profile as a starting point. Check the R4E UEFI guide for further info on individual parameters if need be. If the memory is not stable using the Max Mhz profile at a given frequency, there is little that can be done. Other than that, MRC or uCode updates can be give or take for some DIMMs on newer UEFI builds - nothing we can do about that.
FWIW, DDR3-2133+ is prone to read/write training drift, so obtaining unconditional stability is difficult.
