Sorry to hear your first card got messed up MK.
We are out of LN2 but in 1st slot the 470 now runs at x16 2.0.... Thanks IvanG for pointing that out! :D
nothing special, this card is pretty good, i don't trust afterburner at measuring voltage much so i can't really comments on what droop i have. Plus the vgpu read point on that card is kinda tricky and i don't think i can hold my dmm's probe by hands for so long :D
i cant overclock my core any more? i was able to a while back but now i cant wtf
Asus GTX 480 owner here, pleasant idle 49c @ 44% fanspeed on a single screen, peaked 88c @ 65% during unigine heaven :P

Any bios for 1.2+v ?
only hard volt-mod. You do not need a new bios . you need a new CPU ;). See my scoreQuote:

:)
I need better CPU.
920 goes only 4.7Ghz for 3dmark on DICE :shakes:
I need some help for a decision here.
After reading many reviews about the GTX 470 I still don't know if I should buy one or the Radeon 5850. From what I understood the GTX 470 is power hungry, very hot and somewhat expensive for it's performance but has extra eye candy like Physx and holds great even with heavy tesselation. The 5850 is cooler, has decent power consumption (although the toxic version was drawing more power than the 470) and is about 5 to 15% slower than the 470. I've always been on the "green team" side since my first computer (RIVA TNT2, GF2 MX, GF4 MX, GF6800GS and currently GF9800GTX that is holding fine) so I'm more inclined to buy a Asus GTX470 and I found a buyer for my 9800GTX.
The target resolution is 1680x1050 (most of the time) or 1920x1080 (rarely).
I posted here to get the opinion from the real enthusiasts.;)
System specs here, and "recent" pics from my setup here and here.
Thanks.

Some 470 fun! Just got a couple 470s and a 480, did some runs with the 470 on air and cold, that a nice little gugger! I just flash it to an unlocked evga sc bios. Only prob even with msi AB was not able to go higher than 940 core.... need to find a better bios... here's what I got so far...

Really nice ! Congrats
I think the better buy is the GTX470 even if you don't plan on overclocking the heck out of it, I noticed that your i7 920 isn't overclocked, are you planning to overclock your CPU and GPU? Nvidia's Fermi's are doing pretty well considering there still on first generation drivers! Get the GTX470 that has the larger flow ports in the rear if your going to keep it on air cooling. :yepp:

Nuff said!
I'll get a GTX 470 and report my experience later on!
Thanks!

P.S.=>Overclocking can be done easily to 4GHz (20x200) using 1.27v and temps go to about 75c (prime95, 8threads). I normally get a aftermarket air cooler when it's available, mostly from ArcticCooling, so I can get better overclocking results on the GPU.
My 9800GTX runs @ 58c with 842MHz core, 2000MHz shaders and 2400MHz ram from NVIDIA stock clocks.
MAX overclock for AM3:

Just need a good CPU :)
question ppl
tested one palit gtx480
the mem doesnt seem to go more than 2085 and gpu is at 905 at 1.138 stable
isnt this mem kindda low comparing to some ppl here who is running at 2200??
any ideas
also theres a ferrite choke whin when i changed to wc block
also noticed this
the msi ab beta 6 only works with original non modded 70.00.21.00.02/80/82
Any idea how much the VRM on the stock PCB GeForce GTX 470 heats up (stock clocks) if it does not have any cooling on it?
