Particularly depending on how tight or loose your ram settings are, how much voltage you've added to MCH, even the ambient room temperature when you boot. I've even had my computer lock on me with everything stock for no reason at all during a boot, pressed the power button, pressed it again, and it booted like nothing happened. Could even have something to do with the power strip you're using or your power supply.
When random electrical things start to occur, it's wise to look at the electric devices (voltages in RAM settings, power supply, etc) as opposed to, say, calling Ghostbusters.
